PLUS we got pure prisms early to fill in any missing mats for her skills. Arash still has many uses though, he can slot in to help with super awkward nodes that you just can't loop on normally (at least, not until buster looping later on)
Camelot part 1 disappoints alot but at least part 2 is more entertaining. Not as good as some of the first fate works but still entertaining. But honestly Arash's moment is one of the best in all fate, in a show full of cynical versions of heroes like kiritsugu and archer emiya a simple hero like Arash that sacrifices himself for the sake of everyone is very beautiful
Weirdly enough (I know I'm in the minority here), I preferred the atmosphere of the first one, more relaxing and trying to make us care about the village and the refugees. Part two was for me : too much. Too much stuff happening on the screen and not much happening at the same time. Part 1 took it's time, Part 2 felt rushed (especially the ending where it's almost "we did it, ok thanks byyyyyye"

To give some context on how much content was cut, the two Camelot movies has a total runtime of 3 hours and 5 mins including the credits and other fluff. In comparison, the read time of all the story cutscenes from the game at a reasonable pace is 9 hours. As such, one of my favorite characters in the entire chapter, Arash, didn't get much exposure on the spotlight. It's a good thing that the 2nd part improves a lot and Babylonia is close to how I want that chapter to be adapted!
The two cut servants from the original was Hundred-faced Hassan and Tawara Touta. Hundred faced was the assasin from fate/zero, the purple haired girl. Tawara is not shown anywhere else except from ingame, also happens to be a mostly forgettable servant, no matter how much praise he gets from other Japanese servants. Since you already watched part 2, it was supposed to be Cursed arm, serenity, and Hundred-faces that was supposed to fight tristan togther. A missed opportunity, but i think it was fine with what we got.
I really wish they adapt this way better but they have let an incompetent person direct it, character get cut out, good art but stiff animation for something that is a movie and basically cutting all character development Part 2 is a lot better with a better director but the problem from part one is too much that part two still suffer

They really screwed up adapting the Camelot singularity into a movie trio instead of a series. There is just so much exposition that gets left out in favor of oooh shiny that it actually hurts the movies and brings them down. Camelot had my favorite plot up there with Babylonia and you can really see where the difference between adapting a movie series and adapting a TV series from the game comes into play as the Camelot adaptation leaves out so much character development and growth it ruins the impact of certain revelations and deaths. Arash was an actual character we got to know as we played through the singularity instead of having only a couple lines, so his death was way more impactful as it left Chaldea down a very needed member and friend compared to the movie, where he only had 3 lines then died.
My favorite part of Camelot is the fact that the final boss counts for two sources of bonus damage from the treacherous knight I rolled like 2 days prior
This singularity was, in the VN, one of the best. It was so well written (along with all of its characters), that the best line in it (and probably all the fate media I've consumed so far) came from... Yep, not a main character, not a supporting character, but... a background character. "...and at the entrance to the desert, someone reminded me I was human." I don't think I've ever read a line this beautiful; and even more so knowing the context behind it.
Man's missed Arash Airlines moment from the game. Sadly this Movie couldn't adapt most of the little things that made this chapter loved my the community to GET this adaptation. I can say that after the Camelot chapter, Babylonia and Grand temple of time are very much a good if not decent watch for ya. Will say one thing, they did Arash's sacrifice justice.

Kara no kyoukai already has an anime adaptation so you can start there, mahoutsukai no yoru is also getting a movie adaptation soon. Camelot is just an epic fail. Like there's nothing to complain about the music, the animation, but what even is the plot? Non-fgo player will have a hard time just understanding what's going on. And the fact that this is meant to be a theater movie just make it worse. I'm almost certain that a dozen of people there dont even know what fate is. Just as a comparison, I watched Babylonia as my first fate (yeah you read it right, fuck watch orders. and although I didn't know who Mash or the guy were, I still somewhat had a great time). The arash scene will still be one of the best moment in fates for me though. its like a gem in this shithole of a movie.

Thus, they can be watched chronologically, which is currently : First Order- Camelot-Babylonia-Solomon. The other singularities: Orleans, Septemb, Okeanos, London, and America aren't very good stories anyway, and many consider Septemb to be the writing lowpoint of the series. That said, the series seems more so something targeted at existing Fate, specifically FGO fans, rather than something meant to draw new people into the franchise. It's Chapter 6 of 8 for part 1. (First Order/Fuyuki isn't one of the numbered singularities.) It's like starting the LotR trilogy with Return of the King disc 1 having only read the Hobbit, or Star Wars with Empire Strikes Back after watching the first 15 minutes of The Phantom Menace. It simply lacks the context of the previous chapters, made worse by being so condensed to fill such a short runtime. Thus, Camelot is the least intact of the four adaptations, as Solomon's length was mostly from raid battles and Fuyuki lost very little aside from some dialogue establishing characters that most going into the film already knew and assumed to have happened offscreen. Meanwhile Babylonia got a two season anime. Things dropped from Babylonia are pretty big in number too. 1. Hundred Face Hassan from F/Z. This singularity was sort of a Round table vs the Hassans war, with Ozy as a third party they needed to recruit. Hundred Face, having so many bodies, helped pad out the numbers. She didn't do as much as the others, but she was there. 2. Touta, who hung out with the Hassans and Sanzang. Rice man. 3. The "Other Villages" under Hassan control. This was where Arash got a lot of development, along with Touta. Arash was the one who moved the gang from place to place by basically shooting large pieces of wood from his bow while everyone held on. This was also where they established his suicide attack's existence. 4. The setup for Gramps in part two. When The gang first meets Ozy, his head falls off. He casually picks it up and places it back on, but it was teasing the fact that Gramps beheaded him before the gang showed up.
Arash used to be my main 1st turn clear in the game but that job stolen by A Caster Who Isn't Archer. His uses sacrificial rituals to kill other casters.
Da Vinci's lore is a bit interesting because she willingly genderbends herself where he's actually guy in Fate History and just turns into a girl with the form of Mona Lisa because she's a genius.
Keep the grind going with Fate series, I would say to take a look into the Fate Grand Order promo videos which are from Ufotable and the visual are amazing. I'll add link below but keep in mind other mobile games are kinda copying Fate's video promo style
I really don't get why they cut Hundred Faces. In game she is how Ritsuka meets Nitocris, HF kidnapped her, she is Cursed Arm's ally and she is how they invade the prison Serenity is in. Meanwhile even in game Seremity does nearly nothing for the chapter.
The Camelot movies did alot of things that I really don't understand why they did it. While yes adapting a 9 hour gameplay session into 3 hours is good they cut out alot of the key points in the Camelot singularity like Holmes filling in Ritsuka and Mash on Romani's some what peculiar existence and Holmes as a character who's quite key to the story in Arc 2. Also Arash having 3 lines and dying is quite accurate to the game so props to them for that lmao.
Yeah I kinda love and hate these first FGO movies, I love them because as a FGO player it's really cool to see some parts of the story fully animated but at the same time I hate that they didn't want to commit fully to them so they end up being literal exposition dumps with fights in-between because they have to stuff so much story in so little time and for anime onlys they also give off the impression that this is a valid form to experience the story of FGO when it isn't even close to the original considering how much had to be cut, fortunately Babylonia got an actual anime to fully develop the story and Solomon is short enough to be accommodated by a movie so they certainly realized their mistakes eventually. Anyways great review, funny as always, keep it up bro👍
Part II is SO MUCH BETTER. Obviously, the Mobile game version is the best version of the story simply because it has more time to flesh out characters.
I still don't understand why the boy in the holy selection(forgot his name) is not as "pure" as his mother. I mean he's a child! How much of a sinner could he be!?(And yes, I play FGO, I don't remember it being explained there either)
I liked those hassans there the extinct almost of the hired to assassinate the sha or sheik during the rule in middle east and they are from persia area. Though the JP portrayed are more like a ninja. And in the prototype drama cd is an ingredient of a perfect vessel of the dead apostle. Next is the fate zero and fate stay night series with 3 routes based in visual novels.
If you want to take a break from mainline Fate/ and like Waver's character from Zero, I'd recommend Lord El-Melloi II case files. Just a warning though, the first half is anime original and when they do adapt the light novel, they don't start from the beginning. Also, Gray is best saber face. Unfortunately they don't go into her backstory. Basically, the villagers wanted to use her body to bring King Arthur to the modern day. Since Gray was born, they used magecraft to make her look more like the king, to the point that she hates how she looks.
Well if you don't want to enter the gatcha hell that is FGO you could watch the cutscenes that people have uploaded on TH-cam so that you can experience the full story that is if you want to spend 9+ hours reading
Tbf ritsuka doesn’t really know any form of magecraft besides using mystic codes(stuff that helps with a magus’ magecraft) to help his servants. If he were to stand around he would just be a liability.
Pretty much everyone agreed that this didn't turned out to well. And it's shortcomings even more aperant when you look at the Babylonia adaptation (and let's not even bring in the Solomon movie.).
It was quite surprising they added a Chinese folklore to the mix. (It’s caster.) But like she should’ve been able to clap the cheeks of the Roundtable. She has a disciple that can travel 108km in a flip, make heaven turn into hell, uses a staff that weighs 17k pounds and has immortality. WHY ISNT THAT STAFF BREAKING THE CASTLE ANYWAYS.
Half of the issues you pointed out get fixed in second part. This would be a great series for 12 eps but it just doesn't deliver as 2 movies despite having good premise
I heard from someone that they didn’t use the game’s story but a stage play’s adaptation of it. Probably why hundred faces and touta wasn’t there. And if I’m wrong it’s probably because adapting it into a movie would cost them time instead of using it for plot relevance.
This movie was seriously bad. Them skipping stuff from the game really just sucked to be honest and if you're an anime only,good luck trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Ost's were like you said really good and animation was also decent. But part 2 is really a lot better so they somewhat saved it I guess. As always really nice review, keep up the good content^^

In game she is how Ritsuka meets Nitocris, HF kidnapped her, she is Cursed Arm's ally and she is how they invade the prison Serenity is in.
Meanwhile even in game Seremity does nearly nothing for the chapter.

The Camelot movies did alot of things that I really don't understand why they did it. While yes adapting a 9 hour gameplay session into 3 hours is good they cut out alot of the key points in the Camelot singularity like Holmes filling in Ritsuka and Mash on Romani's some what peculiar existence and Holmes as a character who's quite key to the story in Arc 2.
Also Arash having 3 lines and dying is quite accurate to the game so props to them for that lmao.

Yeah I kinda love and hate these first FGO movies, I love them because as a FGO player it's really cool to see some parts of the story fully animated but at the same time I hate that they didn't want to commit fully to them so they end up being literal exposition dumps with fights in-between because they have to stuff so much story in so little time and for anime onlys they also give off the impression that this is a valid form to experience the story of FGO when it isn't even close to the original considering how much had to be cut, fortunately Babylonia got an actual anime to fully develop the story and Solomon is short enough to be accommodated by a movie so they certainly realized their mistakes eventually.

I liked those hassans there the extinct almost of the hired to assassinate the sha or sheik during the rule in middle east and they are from persia area. Though the JP portrayed are more like a ninja. And in the prototype drama cd is an ingredient of a perfect vessel of the dead apostle. Next is the fate zero and fate stay night series with 3 routes based in visual novels.
This movie is the homework you have to do before you can watch Camelot part 2.

If you want to take a break from mainline Fate/ and like Waver's character from Zero, I'd recommend Lord El-Melloi II case files. Just a warning though, the first half is anime original and when they do adapt the light novel, they don't start from the beginning. Also, Gray is best saber face. Unfortunately they don't go into her backstory.
Basically, the villagers wanted to use her body to bring King Arthur to the modern day. Since Gray was born, they used magecraft to make her look more like the king, to the point that she hates how she looks.
Yeah the first Camelot movie was...bad. But I did enjoy the second one and I hope you do too

Tbf ritsuka doesn’t really know any form of magecraft besides using mystic codes(stuff that helps with a magus’ magecraft) to help his servants. If he were to stand around he would just be a liability.

Pretty much everyone agreed that this didn't turned out to well. And it's shortcomings even more aperant when you look at the Babylonia adaptation (and let's not even bring in the Solomon movie.).
It was quite surprising they added a Chinese folklore to the mix. (It’s caster.) But like she should’ve been able to clap the cheeks of the Roundtable. She has a disciple that can travel 108km in a flip, make heaven turn into hell, uses a staff that weighs 17k pounds and has immortality. WHY ISNT THAT STAFF BREAKING THE CASTLE ANYWAYS.
Funny thing is that the Monke king in Fate is still alive yet got gatekeeped by the Saver class Buddha

Half of the issues you pointed out get fixed in second part. This would be a great series for 12 eps but it just doesn't deliver as 2 movies despite having good premise

I heard from someone that they didn’t use the game’s story but a stage play’s adaptation of it. Probably why hundred faces and touta wasn’t there. And if I’m wrong it’s probably because adapting it into a movie would cost them time instead of using it for plot relevance.
I’m back and yes I think they did use the stage play. I skimmed some footage I found here and yeah I didn’t see touta and hundred faces there.
This movie was seriously bad. Them skipping stuff from the game really just sucked to be honest and if you're an anime only,good luck trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Ost's were like you said really good and animation was also decent. But part 2 is really a lot better so they somewhat saved it I guess. As always really nice review, keep up the good content^^
