Let's not forget that several federal judges have ruled parts of the sex offender registry unconstitutional: living or working within a thousand feet of a school zone, offenders having to supply all phone numbers and social media info, etc. The man is trying to put his life back together. And for once, I hear a story about a sex offender without a victim (yeah, I get the fact that there could've been a victim, even several victims). But luckily, this man was caught before he damaged a child's life, beyond repair. I'd spend my time worrying about repeat offenders, and those who haven't learned from their mistakes. If I'm ever in Durham, I'm going to stop by Lily's for some pizza.
@@robinnewhouse1563 what the fk is wrong with you people. this man is probably more successful than you and youre mad at him. from his perspective he was in a dark place, and the law came and pulled him out, punished him severely, and put him in a direction that says "I can provide for my community" and you people turn and wish death on him. forget the fact that nearly all sex offenders never commit that crime again, its not enough for you. even though violent murderers are highly likely to re commit the crime, youd probably be more ok with the murderer than the sex offender. this is a psychological issue, people get incredibly upset when other people have sex or masturbate, this is a real phenomenon, people get upset over other peoples *legal* sex lives, when its something illegal people wish death on that person. I promise you, person who 1. has no psychology background and 2. has never done any research into this, I can promise you, you are only mad because it involves sexual nature that you disagree with. fact is, this guy probably just goes home and watches tv, wakes up, and goes to make pizza. if you want the death sentence, get ready for death camps to come back. you migh find yourself in a death camp one day.
Do these exact laws help improve the lives of their victims other than constantly throwing ranches in their way to get them to not testify and get out of court settlements?
Leave sex offenders alone! Especially if they have already paid for their crimes, and admit what the did was wrong. The registry needs to be abolished or reformed. Reformed in the sense that people can be taken off after certain amount of years.
Thank you. Not excusing what I did at all. For 20 years now I've been dealing with the fallout of my horrible decision! I petitioned to be removed from the registry last October in Durham but no luck. Will try again this year. Enough is enough

It's because deep down inside, Americans have an infatuation with violence. This is why the media and Hollywood glamorize it. You can take a person who is a POS, who does drugs and verbally abuses his/her kids and maybe ends up murdering their kid. Society will find a way to forgive that person. They will say that it was society that made that person. That they are mentally sick and need not be demonized for it. YET....if you have someone who is a pillar of society, educated and a great father/mother, but one day makes a horrible mistake of touching one of their kids inappropriately, they person gets demonized for life. They get treated like a monster.
I think he deserves another chance but I have to ask this, were you hoping she was real or something? I’m glad she wasn’t, he was prepared to do it THINKING SHE WAS and that’s enough, he would’ve done it sooner or later and thankfully the girl wasn’t real.
True, I actually thought that they ended this practice a while back because you have to have a victim to be convicted, who is going to testify/ the detective? without a victim you can't even have a case, this conviction astounds me from a legal standpoint.

There are alot crimes that require you to be placed on the registry that are victimless, I know these laws and the registry are important for violent offenders. The problem is the ones that aren't violent. Society only sees it as a sex crime and the person and their loved ones will suffer as long as they are on the registry. Just as sin is sin a crime is a crime the only crime required to be on a public list are sex offenders. Once a person serves their time and follows the law they shouldn't have to relive their mistake over and over for the rest of their life. The guy in the video is trying to make a living. Next he'll have to post a warning.
Family member of mine was molested by a repeat sex offender who "Did his time" he got out of prison after 7 years got a job at a rec center so be could be around boys and molest them. This was long time ago before the registry was formed today those registry's are the only thing that keeps these monsters from repeating. It's a fact that once someone does this they keep doing it because it becomes an addiction much like drugs. Can the registry be abused by some lawmakers I agree it can be I think judges should take into account a professional such as a psychiatrist who evaluates the offender. This incident the man owns the pizza place he knew he was meeting a 14 year old for sex can't see how that is not clear cut.

@Yossi I wish I could. I was never given exact studies, just the results. And those were given to me by a licensed practitioner who counsels such offenders. The department of Corrections is well aware that the risk of reoffending (actual new crime) is low for sex offenders. However, due to multiple factors, society sees all such offenders as irredeemable, even if it's a one-and-done situation. I've met plenty of young men who were doing time over such situations. Even more sadly, such offenders are SUCH a concern, yet they are discriminated against legally and are essentially wholly ignored when it comes to assistance. They must maintain housing in most cases, while on supervision, yet we have restrictions that limit their choices and ordinances that outright ban them in some places. We are fine with them working and serving the rest of us, but nearly completely deny them the very things that make life enjoyable or even tolerable, such as housing. Most of them that I've met have given up. They dont try to improve their lives. Not because they believe they should, but because society says they should give up. And that's across the board, with no regard to the actual crime or circumstances, just the label. Do some research- only something like 15% of sex offenders are the ones we hear about in the news. A good portion were teens sleeping with other teens (consenting but not legal). And probably 10% are folks who stopped to pee and got caught. A good portion of men convicted in the last 20 years were cases where both parties were intoxicated (meaning neither could consent) but, due to gender, they were prosecuted as if they weren't- there's a double standard there. The idea still seems to persist that men can't be abused. Most treatment programs have left shame-based treatment behind because shame increases the risk to reoffend (for anyone) dramatically, and increases suicide risk. Most of the research I've heard of comes from Canada, and on US servers I can't find much on it. But I also don't have access to the networks that professionals do. Sorry can't quote the studies. But I can quote experience.
A school is close by. He’s on the list for trying to rape a 14 year old girl that turned out to be a cop. So that’s the reasoning. Maybe he should’ve picked a location where he knows allowed to be

I just came across this video. That man is trying to live his life. I am a registered sex offender also and I am trying to get along with life. What I did was horrible. What I did I am regretful for the rest of my life. I destroyed a life. I destroyed someone's innocence. But that doesn't give people the right to dictate to me how I can live. This fellow and others like me are trying to live normal lives. Leave us alone and let us show you that we can do much better.
I echo this bro. Same. 7 years in, been out since 2020... now I'm finding when I need help I can't get it due to my past. I worked, went to school, educated myself in a lot I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. I have dreams and goals and I wanna help people, in part because helping people is the right thing to do anyway but because I feel I owe society something beautiful. But rn I'm struggling to literally survive. I can get food stamps, and I can stay at the mission. Or live in a clean and sober transition house like I just got out. I just want a second chance to prove that I can contribute. When does that happen?
Or a lying politician registry. I want to know if a manipulative sociopath has moved in next door, pretending to save the children for votes, etc. Ok so I'm kind of joking but also kind of serious in the sense that our society has the very insecure habit of thinking certain crimes require a registry while some do not. Drivers that speed or drive under the influence tend to be far more dangerous than most people on the registry.
Oh boy these people who never get convicted of sex crimes would shut the fuck up if they were put on a list like that and not allowed in a car that is not public transit or emergency vehicle Not allowed to purchase alcohol and possess alcohol anymore (same with every other drug legal except caffeine) Additional charge if driving with a child in the car, seen as a liability and danger hazard Etc. I bet these people would be begging for a second chance.
One way to avoid being a registrant IS TO AVOID AN ONLINE SOLICITATION CHARGE INVOLVING A MINOR at all costs! So avoid Whisper, Backpage, Craigslist or other similar sites so you do not end up being charged!
@@charlessmith263 it would be better for society if law enforcement didn’t waste their time posing as adults on adult dating sites with the intention that they are gonna make someone break the law. It overfills the registry and dulls it’s effect it was intended for.
@@ryaj2356 I think stings are a great way to identify predators that otherwise will get away with doing horrible things to children and go unnoticed. Nobody forces a predator to break the law. Only caveat being we do need a way to deal with the repeat offenders. As a convicted s.o., I recognize that, while so many now are good people who found themselves in untenable situations and made poor decisions, there are indeed those who maybe should be dealt with stringently. Lifetime imprisonment is unrealistic in totality due to the cost vs benefits. Look at so many places that don't have life... Here in Washington, I'm on registry and supervision for the rest of my life. I'm 35. Tbh I'd rather disappear, just blink out of existence, than live this way.. it's not worth it.
@@absolute0rez repeat offenders can be dealt with when it happens. They'll have their stuff recorded in police files, keep it that way instead of making a name and shame list. Can I ask what you did? the fact that this man is trying to live a honest and true life and is regretful of his actions shows that hes rehabilitated and deserves a second chance. the registry puts people pn there who did not do anyting with intention including nearly ten percent of people on the Autism spectrum and who have other neurodevelopmental disorders and they are put on there even when it is found they do not fit the crieteria for their crime and ther police messed up. but they get on there due to the accusers instistance just becasue they want their lives ruined. yes truly dangerous offenders need to be put on the registry which is what it was intended for, people like this absolutly not.

People need to realize harassing offenders can make them more likely to do something irrational. Just because someone commited a crime like that doesnt mean you get to treat them like a second class citizen.
Of course what he was convicted of was horrible, but if excons can actually hold onto a job and become a productive decent member of society, encourage them! Especially if they genuinely understand what they did was very wrong. We shouldn't discourage them from holding down a job. We already have too many excons who once off probation or jail, are unproductive either because if the criminal record, or some other reason. Job security is important for lower recidivism. And I would apply this reasoning consistently, even paroled homicide offenders should be able to get a job.
So,this publicity , that if it leads to harm, makes this TV station culpable. So, we've taken the legal defense of practical impossibility away when we allow cops to sit in air conditioned offices, pretending to be someone they are not, playing on the computer trying to entrap people for money? That's what it boils down to. This is because he was not allowed to use the defense that their was no actual victim, just a cop. The jury would not have been presented with that very important information. Also, this guy has probably never gotten into serious trouble before. The definition of entrapment is encouraging someone to do something that they would not do on their own accord. Then the problem becomes that while the law allows an entrapment defense, most states go on to explain why you cannot use it. I think those decisions need to be made by well informed juries. Did this guy run afoul of the local good ol boy crowd and did some of them in the police department target him? This is proof that the internet is dangerous, not just for the ones we immediately see as vulnerable, but for everyone
Okay, what was the illegal thing he did? Clearly it never went to sex as it was a cop actually. Did he send photos or ask about photos. Did he know she was 14 early in the ”relationship” or had he gotten emotionally atached before the confession?
The illegal thing he did was sucked up into an online sting where adult predators known as law enforcement go to dating apps and pose as adults to start and establish relationships with known single men on the site looking for adult females to have relationships with then use that platform to build a fake case by at any point during the relationships to change their age and trick men into committing crimes. What he did was victimless by all measures and the practice he got swept up in should be highly illegal and considered a massive waste of time.
@ryaj2356 it's on the books in most jurisdictions as entrapment, however law enforcement, while they legally are not supposed to, they are allowed and encouraged. Chances are high, had these detectives not convinced these men who fall like he did to make efforts, they would likely never have.
The funny thing is, coercion and deception like that are very illegal on paper but authorities can still use them with impunity. It only gets prosecuted if it's a regular citizen.
Odd are the police established a relationship for one to two or even three weeks then changed the age once they knew they had a hook line and sinker. Generally law enforcement isn’t required to not be an adult at first to get the gears moving. They can stay an adult for months even talking on phone as an adult to get them sucked in. None of this interaction is part of the end game of the sting operation. The operation begins when the cop changes the narrative. Then every little word is viewed and used differently than it otherwise would be once that line is crossed. If the John backs out, they can also say I was just kidding and keep working him until the end of that sting operation has concluded. Be rested assured tho, they keep the profiles of these guys.
I can't find the business online. Says it may have closed. I'm not defending him; all I care about if the food is good or not. If it was good, I would have eaten there, if it was not, I wouldn't.
I’m sorry, but you’re telling me that’s the first and only time he’s tried talking to an underaged girl? Nah, it’s the only time his ass got caught. He KNEW he was speaking to a 14 year old, what do people think he was intending to do had that girl been real?
And still, the only real concern here *should be* is the pizza good and the price reasonable. Just as with a trans pizza maker, what this guy has or hasn't formerly done with his genitals has nothing at all to do with whether he should be selling pizza. How about an expose' on how many pizza shops have had terrible Health Department violations but are still allowed to remain in business? Is that not much more relevant to public safety than this Karen-esque nonsense non-story?
One, that doesn't make sense. That would mean there can't be a first time for anything, which then means nothing can ever occur. And second, how can he know he was talking to a 14 year old...when he wasn't talking to a 14 year old. That's like charging someone with murder for stabbing a scarecrow. It *could* have been a person, but it wasn't, and literally nobody was negatively affected in any way.

These registry laws will be expanded to LGBT including those who do any of the following: take cross sex hormones for either reversing their development or appearing as the opposite birth sex, forced and unforced sodomy, and for heteronormative people, charges for fornication and adultery will be included. However cars, houses, bank accounts will all be confiscated as they were no doubt part of the crime. Police chiefs who enforce this will be brought in and there will be blackmail and financial incentive. If they don't like it and want to fight back, political dissidents and LGBT organizations will be branded as terrorist categorically. Death penalty will apply for doctors who prescribe Prep, HIV meds, cross hormones as well as people who promote it. Can a sex offender travel to another country? How can sex offender registries be constitutional? I believe they are objectively clearly unconstitutional and the severity of punishment of being freed from prison but placed on the sex offender registry is far worse than the time actually spent in prison. They are unconstitutional for being “Cruel and Unusual Punishment”. They are unconstitutional for often being applied backwards in time and thus repeatedly add additional new punishments. They are unconstitutional for being based off know lies. They are unconstitutional because they frequently cause extremely harsh punishment upon those around a registered sex offender, like the spouse or child of a sex offender. Sex offenders can be subject to conditions like being made to live under a bridge with no shelter from the elements other than the overhead bridge, no running water and no electricity; conditions which would illegal in any prison. They can face a technical violation for being late to an appointment, walking to close to some location they might not even know about, driving through a county which requires them to notify the local police before entering and leaving that county, for going to a library or church where it has been made illegal for them to go, for playing some online game like Dota 2 and failed to inform everyone in the game they are a sex offender, etc., etc. These laws change from city to city, county to county, state to state, and frequently change in time and there is no excuse for not knowing the law. Perhaps worse of all, if the sex offender is married with children, the children become free targets of abuse by society, the abuse of which is ignored. Such abuse done to the child of a sex offender would normally be considered a heinous continuous severe emotional abuse of a child over periods often in years and sometimes for a child entire childhood, yet such abuse becomes sanctioned by the government. There are real sex crimes that really happen for which people should be severely punished. But, the USA has gone into a sex crime hysteria that is very similar to the Spanish Inquisition or Salem Witch Trials. People get arrested and sentenced to harsh punishments over minor crimes, often where no one was injured, sometimes where no one but the perpetrator was involved, sometimes where children are just doing some sex play with other children, but it is now considered an extreme crime where once it was considered a healthy part of growing up. Did you know where the victims age is under 12 that almost 8% of the perpetrators are other children under 12 and that almost 38% of the perpetrators are under 18? A kid playing doctor or show me can end up convicted of a sex crime and registered as a sex criminal until 18 or longer. Teens are normally hit with a surge of hormones making them want to be more sexually active while at the same time often being naïve and confused about their sexuality, which often results in exploratory behavior that is not indicative of the rest of their life. Teens have been convicted of manufacturing and distributing child pornography because they too a sexually posed selfie and sent it over the phone to their boyfriend. It has become incredibly easy to convict someone of a sex crime. A misunderstanding involving a child can result in a child molestation conviction. A person can get convicted for looking at a web forum where adult sexual pictures are posted and some spurt of child porn gets sent into that forum and whoever is using that forum doesn’t report it, they can be convicted for not reporting it, even if they never saw the actual child porn. Parents have been convicted for taking a nude picture of their child in the bathtub. Some teenage girls have learned the power they have and wield it as a weapon, thus if some boyfriend or male they know pisses them off, they make a false claim of sexual harassment or rape. It has become the in thing for some people to claim they were abused 20 or 30 or 40 years ago, where the only evidence is them just now saying it happened, and people are being convicted over this. That is right, people are being convicted of sex crimes on the word of one person with no other evidence to support it. Accusing people of sex crimes in this manner has become a political weapon and a tool to gain money from the powerful and wealthy. Again, I do want to stress that real heinous sex crimes do occur. However, we have gone from the extreme of ignoring rape victims to convicting so easily that many innocent people are caught up and severely punished. When it comes to sex crimes against children, about 90% of the time the perpetrator is a member of the family or other close relative. Leading research supports what you say my friend
Can you cite the study?

@@ryaj2356stop making excuses he literally admitted he knew what he was doing was wrong and still did it
Odd are the police established a relationship for one to two or even three weeks then changed the age once they knew they had a hook line and sinker.
Leave the guy alone. Nobody would of ever known if the media wouldn't of been sticking their nose in everyone's business. Literally
@@robertkinsey1098this is the police, hand over your hard drive, NOW!!!!
It was a sting by a cop
@@jrenee8303 I cannot believe so many people are defending him
He wouldn't get any of my money

The moon, I guess. I'd like to see the hysterical crowd try and fund that one.
These comment are sad asf dawg THE GUY KNEW THE AGE WAS 14 yk this was a bad thing already even though it was a sting BUT THE GUY THOUGHT IT WAS 14YO like idc he did what he did an that cant excuse him lookin at these comments they would rather worry bout an felon THAN A DIAPER BANDIT

I tell you this people need to be more worried about drug dealers give kids drugs exchange for sex. Then some person like this guy and all these parents need to keep their dam kids off the internet because teenagers are going to lie about their age then when they caught the man always goes to prison or jail the teenagers think it's funny to lie to older men then go out and do it again and again thinking it's funny the laws need to be changed if the teenagers lie to older men on internet then the teenagers need to registry also and go to jail or prison so should their parents
He knew the girl was 14, pedo
Where were these teachers when I was in high school?
Rename it Predators Pizza
These laws and punishments are already in place in Poland, Hungary, Uganda, and Russia.
He has learned nothing. He's blaming the internet for his image... while chatting with a 14 year old online.
I would vote with my money and NEVER spend money there. WTF would you call it "Lillys" a little girl's name?
Also who are the other 3 owners partnering with a registered offender to own a business?!
@@BMFstudiosNYC I've learned that there is always trash protecting pedos.
@@BMFstudiosNYC he TRIED to offend again! You're acting like we are all just finding a random chomo and harassing him for past crimes, we are not! He tried to harm another child, AGAIN!

im sorry but we all make mistakes really i make mistakes all tyhe time didnt care ..it was a child under the age..and what his texts saidwere philthy..now if was your child would ya being saying the same stuff give him a chance..no y wouldnt so think bout parents out there this has happened to and how hurt they were and that child growing up thinking bout this poss going into anxiety or even sucicide...who knows.. now he dealing with the public..
By reading some of these comments, you can tell how many child ticklers are in here...aren't you all not allowed on computers?
Soooo true! Just as with homophobes, the ones griping the loudest are usually closet cases themselves. Thank you for outing yourself.
He should be allowed to live his life BUT, if he wasn't caught and that really was a 14 year old girl, you can almost guarantee he would have tried to meet up with her. He only stopped chatting to children because he was caught. People who aren't attracted to children/teenagers would not continue a explicit conversation with someone if they knew that person was under-age. Everyone should be given the chance to make positive changes in life but the parents aren't wrong for not wanting children anywhere near him.
There is no proof he had done it before or after with kids.
If there were then he would have had that stated in the sentence and been in the reportage
Then the sex offender recidivism has been repeatedly lied about, stating it is extremely high when in fact it is one of the lowest of criminal recidivism rates as is shown below:
Most Likely Case Recidivism for New Sex Crime: Error Margin : Time Period
4.00% : (-2.66%; +6.00%) : from time of release thru end of life
2.55% : (-2.16%; +5.16%) : after 1 year of no new sex crime thru end of life
1.63% : (-1.51%; +4.32%) : after 2 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
1.04% : (-1.00%; +3.55%) : after 3 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
0.66% : (-0.65%; +2.87%) : after 4 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
0.42% : (-0.42%; +2.30%) : after 5 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
0.27% : (-0.27%; +1.83%) : after 6 years of no new sex crime thru end of life

Give him a chance, give him a chance, a chance, another chance... omg, is all you hear from these dudes. Some of y'all must be sex offenders, riding so hard for this man and defending him. Always want forgiveness for some extreme wrongdoing. I don't know what to say about this man, but good luck to him and however his life turns out.
I don't condone his past behavior, but I DO want him, since he has returned as a member of the community, to move forward and better himself. He's paying taxes, not wasting my taxes rotting in prison.
Gotta say beat it jack.

I appreciate giving people a second chance I really do and that was my first thought seeing this. But,his apology is"We all make my mistakes and you know, mine happened to be fairly significant."The victim in question was 14. I'll pass on that pizza if he still owns the place in any way
There was no victim. It was a cop pretending to be 14 in a chat room. Why would he apologize for hurting someone if no one was hurt.
@Rise Over here305 How do you know this was entrapment? He could’ve contacted “her” first for all we know
@@SpookeyClown it was even worse, it was a cop on a dating site intended for adults to meet other single adults. If anyone has used a dating site they would know if you want to target people who are more susceptible, you go to these sites. They are already single, they are willing to be in a relationship, they haven’t had any luck the old fashion way, basically it’s kicking a guy while he is already down. It should be illegal and considered a waste of tax payer money when there are more important crimes going on without detection.
Yikes, the sheer number of comments defending him... Did a whole bunch of people from a sex offenders forum flock to this video or something? I can't even tell if it's somehow a bunch of bots or actual people who are apologists for this specific type of crime. What do you all think he was gonna do if he met up with that minor if she was actually real? He admits he knew "her" age the whole time they were conversing. You're gonna tell me he just made an honest mistake? Y'all are disgusting. He can get another shot at life, fine...but not anywhere near kids! I'd tell you to bring your kids around his shop if you feel so secure about him, but I wouldn't wanna subject innocent kids to that.
Full time liar.
Well he is white. What do you expect
