I'm glad to see people standing against this.
I know i did wrong, but I'm still a human being and still an American citizen.
I served my time and it was a long time ago, i should be free.
Having to register is not freedom, it's life on parole.

Hey man I was convinced at 13 when the "crime" happened when I was 9-10 years old I was molested since birth and was lied to by my grandma that I was a only child and then all of a sudden my mom came home from prison wanted me home I acted out of trama and not being taught it was not okay to have sexual touches with family I know it's embarrassing But I was. Tier one the probation was horrible and in helpful in helping me through my trama and what it does to others it just made me feel even worse about my self when I was a kid! Finally got off the registry I had my whole teenage hood stripped from me my "victim" even told the judge she wanted me home in the house no actual victim would want their abuser in the same house so it further proves the laws are unconstitutional and are more damaging then get the real people who go after children help so they don't do it again they dont do that so it proves it's just about putting people in their system so they can slowly strip our rights back in the day if you were caught raping a child you would be killed right then and their I'm not saying kill all SO's but the ones who deliberately go after kids Your strong man keep going as I have been fighting all my life and have lost everything at a young age can't find a job or housing or be able to protect myself from ignorant gang bangers I'm never allowed to be "free" for something I did as a kid when I did my monthly polygraphs that I passed everytime I had to go to a special guy to be able to determine weather or not I can get off the registry he even said I am sorry you went through this and he stated he has seen many kids in my same situation have their life wrongfully ruined and it was normal to be sexually active at 10 even earlier life and he then made me fill out a sheet and I he said I was good to go and told the court I was not into kids and not a threat to society and I got off of it and will fallow me for the rest of my life I got my state gun rights back but never federal still got to ask "permission" and not to mention I have received no justice actual justice against the guy who did it to me and my older sister and older brother the people who were supposed to protect me never did and never put him in the dirt or in jail you no one is alone in this world ! And that was honestly the hardest thing to grasp in life god bless! No one is alone in this world the laws are screwed up

I am a woman. I am a victim. It is the only crime that there's no forgiveness for... You can even kill a cop, serve a good amount of time in prison, and not have these restrictions once you're out. I believe in forgiveness. I also know the government is really great at wasting our money. I hope any man reading this who is on the registry, did his time, gone through therapy, and has not reoffended... Is able to find freedom off the registry.

This should be deemed unconstitutional. Someone can kill and dismember their victims and after they serve their time can move forward and live a normal life. A Sexual Offender can't seek help before acting on an impulse and then after they do their time, they continue to be incarcerated by these extreme requirements. In Florida, they recently changed the 1,000-foot mandate to 2,500 feet, the equivalent of 9.5 street blocks making it more difficult than ever for these individuals to find allowable housing. Basically, they are being set up for failure.

I was forced on the sex offender registry by Saint Clair shores police department without any charges. In 2015-16 I was charged with failure to register when the computer made sudden changes without notice to me. I proved in this trial I had never been charged by Michigan or any other u.s. jurisdiction court military or otherwise for even a first offense let alone habitual. I have been verifying since 11-02-2007 and the alleged charges are from the same date. The courts looked for a year and three months finding no charges anywhere for me. My name was to be removed because of this proof yet the public defender I had during this trial in 2015-16 stood against me trying to get me to plead to a 24 year sentence. Again this case was dismissed with prejudice by the judge as I have no charges. This same public defender was running for county prosecutor during my trial which did reflect in his representation of me. Fast forward to this year and he is again charging me with failure to register because their is no court of ajudication against me anywhere in America under any u.s. jurisdiction proven as such. Yet on the registry I'm listed as a tier three offender. This same prosecutor is now trying to convict me for failure to register again violating the law. I also have proof that he changed my charges on the registry to a military conviction which is false again and I proved in the trial from 2015-16. I also have proof he changed the logic and ruling of the same trial to a nolle prosequi judgement.
The proof is on my favor to not only have my name removed from the registry but I also have grounds for a lawsuit against Michigan for this problem. As well as a lawsuit for taking my children from me based off of these false charges. All the lawyers I talk to in the state of Michigan have refused to take up my cause and trust me based off the registry alone.
I am not a sex offender, I have no charges anywhere in America or in the military and the only reason I'm on the registry is because my name is the same as someone else. This is the only reason. please help. I'm listed as a tier three and have never been. Charged with a first crime let alone any second or third case at all.

1 what you did was wrong. But so is a system without hope. I’m glad to hear about your rehabilitation. As you wait to somehow be absolved, don’t dwell on it. Think about how you should live and act normally ish. Be positive even though. Listen, your already on the register, if someone is looking they will know, most people are just too busy, also if you are a good rehabilitated person let people see that in your actions. I kind of think of it like a ghost walker in the movie After Earth. I don’t act scared just be normal and calm. Other than that I suggest the registration be extended to all crimes. I mean if everyone is so judgmental let it be. Why wouldn’t a person that wants to know about sex offenders want to know if they live next to a burglar, bank robber or killer. If we are going to throw stones let’s get a bucket! Done let it get you down anymore. Take it as a challenge to be the best whatever you want to be.

In California Bill sb-384 is a crime-based system and when the DOJ determines an individual's tier level Thay don't consider an individual's risk level score. In Jan of 2022 judges will start using risk levels score at sentencing. to determine tier level. I would think this would open the door and require that all offenders risk level scores prior to 2022 be considered to determine a proper tier level.

How can sex offender registries be constitutional?
I believe they are objectively clearly unconstitutional and the severity of punishment of being freed from prison but placed on the sex offender registry is far worse than the time actually spent in prison. They are unconstitutional for being “Cruel and Unusual Punishment”. They are unconstitutional for often being applied backwards in time and thus repeatedly add additional new punishments. They are unconstitutional for being based off know lies. They are unconstitutional because they frequently cause extremely harsh punishment upon those around a registered sex offender, like the spouse or child of a sex offender.
Sex offenders can be subject to conditions like being made to live under a bridge with no shelter from the elements other than the overhead bridge, no running water and no electricity; conditions which would be illegal in any prison. They can face a technical violation for being late to an appointment, walking to close to some location they might not even know about, driving through a county which requires them to notify the local police before entering and leaving that county, for going to a library or church where it has been made illegal for them to go, for playing some online game like Dota 2 and failed to inform everyone in the game they are a sex offender, etc., etc. These laws change from city to city, county to county, state to state, and frequently change in time and there is no excuse for not knowing the law. Perhaps worse of all, if the sex offender is married with children, the children become free targets of abuse by society, the abuse of which is ignored. Such abuse done to the child of a sex offender would normally be considered a heinous continuous severe emotional abuse of a child over periods often in years and sometimes for a child entire childhood, yet such abuse becomes sanctioned by the government.
There are real sex crimes that really happen for which people should be severely punished. But, the USA has gone into a sex crime hysteria that is very similar to the Spanish Inquisition or Salem Witch Trials. People get arrested and sentenced to harsh punishments over minor crimes, often where no one was injured, sometimes where no one but the perpetrator was involved, sometimes where children are just doing some sex play with other children, but it is now considered an extreme crime where once it was considered a healthy part of growing up.
Did you know where the victims age is under 12 that almost 8% of the perpetrators are other children under 12 and that almost 38% of the perpetrators are under 18? A kid playing doctor or show me can end up convicted of a sex crime and registered as a sex criminal until 18 or longer. Teens are normally hit with a surge of hormones making them want to be more sexually active while at the same time often being naïve and confused about their sexuality, which often results in exploratory behavior that is not indicative of the rest of their life. Teens have been convicted of manufacturing and distributing child pornography because they too a sexually posed selfie and sent it over the phone to their boyfriend.
It has become incredibly easy to convict someone of a sex crime. A misunderstanding involving a child can result in a child molestation conviction. A person can get convicted for looking at a web forum where adult sexual pictures are posted and some spurt of child porn gets sent into that forum and whoever is using that forum doesn’t report it, they can be convicted for not reporting it, even if they never saw the actual child porn. Parents have been convicted for taking a nude picture of their child in the bathtub. Some teenage girls have learned the power they have and wield it as a weapon, thus if some boyfriend or male they know pisses them off, they make a false claim of sexual harassment or rape. It has become the in thing for some people to claim they were abused 20 or 30 or 40 years ago, where the only evidence is them just now saying it happened, and people are being convicted over this. That is right, people are being convicted of sex crimes on the word of one person with no other evidence to support it. Accusing people of sex crimes in this manner has become a political weapon and a tool to gain money from the powerful and wealthy.
Again, I do want to stress that real heinous sex crimes do occur. However, we have gone from the extreme of ignoring rape victims to convicting so easily that many innocent people are caught up and severely punished. When it comes to sex crimes against children, about 90% of the time the perpetrator is a member of the family or other close relative. Then the sex offender recidivism has been repeatedly lied about, stating it is extremely high when in fact it is one of the lowest of criminal recidivism rates as is shown below:
Most Likely Case Recidivism for New Sex Crime: Error Margin : Time Period
4.00% : (-2.66%; +6.00%) : from time of release thru end of life
2.55% : (-2.16%; +5.16%) : after 1 year of no new sex crime thru end of life
1.63% : (-1.51%; +4.32%) : after 2 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
1.04% : (-1.00%; +3.55%) : after 3 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
0.66% : (-0.65%; +2.87%) : after 4 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
0.42% : (-0.42%; +2.30%) : after 5 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
0.27% : (-0.27%; +1.83%) : after 6 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
This is from an analysis of dozens of studies from 7 different states covering 56,006 released sex offenders and their recidivism for new sex crimes. By state the sex offender recidivism for a new sex crime is: Ohio (8.3%), Arizona (3.25%), Minnesota (10%), California (three studies 3.35%, 4.05% and when technical offenses were removed 1.34%), Washington (3.72%), Maine (5.10%), New York (2.10% which takes into account 25 studies).
Even using the worst-case example centered around Minnesota’s higher value the figures end up being:
Years from Release Worst Case Recidivism For New Sex Crime
10% from time of release thru end of life
7.71% after 1 year of no new sex crime thru end of life
5.95% after 2 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
4.59% after 3 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
3.53% after 4 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
2.72% after 5 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
2.10% after 6 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
1.62% after 7 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
1.25% after 8 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
0.96% after 9 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
0.74% after 10 years of no new sex crime thru end of life
For other sources not in this analysis the values are: Colorado (2.61%), Connecticut (2.7%), Indiana (1.05%), Iowa (3.23%), Tennessee (3.5% rapists & 4.7% statutory rapists), Michigan (2.5%), Australian Broadhurst and Maller Study 1992 (8.4%), Australian Broadhurst and Loh Study 1997 (9.4%), Florida Levenson & Shields 2012 (5.2% & 13.7%), Virginia 2005 (8.17% & 3.6%).
These values are relevant for all types of sex offenders and if you pay attention to the pattern, which holds for all criminal types, the risk of recidivating for a new crime decreases the longer an ex-convict is out without having committed a new crime. If you combine these fact together, then the whole “Stranger Danger” sex offender risk is a massive fabrication. Yes, it does happen, rarely, and when it does happen it makes big news. But more than 90% of sex offender never re-offend with a new sex crime and of those who do re-offend, if a child is involved then it is 90% likely they are a close family member to the child, not a stranger.
Add on to this the harshness and length of the sex offender registration, which has become a harsher punishment than prison time and in many cases ends up being for 20 years, 30 years or life. Of the close to 900,000 registeres sex offenders, a great many of them try to move on with their lives and then the punishment directed at them also ends up punishing their spouses and children. Did you know that hundreds of thousands of children are suffering terribly because of the social punishment that gets directed at them for being the child of a registered sex offender?

If he 'shouldn't go free', then why is he walking around outside of a prison? You either complete a sentence or you don't. As it stands, the registration keeps people in an incomplete sentence status even if the convicted marries his wife whose parents had him prosecuted for dating while 17. If he slips up with the Simon Says stipulations of the registration, he gets to go back to prison to provide free labor to the state for profit which is part of the goal.

      • your current proof of registration, that’s usually four pages.
Serve your petition to the Superior Court in the county you’re registered in. Have them make a copy, deliver one copy of your petition to the DAs office in the same county, and one copy to the law-enforcement agency that you register through.
If your conviction is in another county, other than where you register, you’re also have to deliver a copy of the petition to the DAs office in that county, and also to the arresting agency that handled the investigation of your case.
Once that process is completed, you’ll have to fill out form CR-416 which is proof of service. Take that copy back to the Superior Court in your county and the process is completed. Within 2 to 4 months you’ll receive a copy of form CR-418 from the court informing you if your petition has been granted or denied

Screw this. You touch a kid or anything involving children or rape you need to be on the registry for life. And no legal guns for you. You really should be in prison for life. Its an unforgivable crime. They are KIDS. If you go after minors you are ALWAYS be a risk. A threat. Yo see anyone wanting this registry go away makes me SICK

Go cry somewhere else, you take a life too seriously. We should pass the law where people with dumb ideas have to register, so the public knows whose opinions are irrelevant, like yours

Seems you are very clueless. Anyone can end up on the Sex offender registry, in some states urinating or skinny dipping can cause you to register, teenagers having a relationship or sexting can end up on the sex offender registry. Majority of sex offenses are not what we all think when we hear the term. Roughly 25% of people on S.O.R are Juveniles, children doing acts against other children. Even Youth adults at a bar or college who slap a girl on their rear can end up on sex offender registry. Sex offender registry is very board and isn't narrow, not everyone on the registry has a victim and not everyone victim is a true victim either for example statutory rape, relationship between a adult and a teenager four years apart. Keep that in mind that people are not monsters or sickos because of their past, but humans who made a mistake in their life's. Anyone can end up on sex offender registry but it should not define who they are.

@@alexlaborde385 Sounds like your a story teller, I did some research on your claim and it can not be verified. PA also require those who committed violent sexual offenses to register for "LIFE". Not sure why you are looking over your shoulder, statics shows that recidivism rate are extremely low and research shows that it is those who aren't on the registry committing violent and sexual offenses. Your more safer hanging out alone with someone on the registry list then hanging out with your teacher or coach. over 80% of cases of sexual offenses come from someone they know, keep that in mind.

@@alexlaborde385 I am very confused about your statement, so your saying the individual you been with for 20 plus years is making the claim of some type of violent sexual offense that occur, where the individual was on the registry but some how vanish from the registry list despite the fact there is no merit of this claim. Did I summarize it correctly? Only time I've seen someone who wasn't require register on the S.O.R after a sexual offense are police officers, for example TN Memphis police officer raped a little girl over several months period and wasn't require to be placed on the registry but children at the age of 7 in some states are place on the registry. Seems to me that we have a fail S.O.R system, where it doesn't work for you either if what you are saying is true. Which is more reason why you should be supporting the removal of sex offenders because it simply doesn't bring any one justices. Those we think should be on it are not, and those who are on it shouldn't be. Do you think a 7 year old kid should have to be on the sex offender registry yet in your case a grown man some how vanishes from the registry?

Because they’re living breathing beings in the flesh that have god given rights and constitutional rights, the SOR goes against that. Also you don’t even know them or what they were convicted of, you have zero facts besides an inaccurate representation of them online and you just eat it up. Talk about having a low IQ
