    Carlos is the most underrated driver on the grid. Everyone sings Charles praises and say Ferrari is the problem not him. But Charles has a crush on every barrier he sees while Carlos has been far better. The RB academy definitely has a bizarre duality to it. On the one hand it's an absolute mess with driver mismanagement all over the place. On the other hand, their academy output is a lot better than that of the other F1 teams. The path for junior drivers to get into F1 may need another look.

    • @LawVS

      It's got some really good candidates and a very good pedigree; but right now it's gotten too bloated and focused on JUST F1. If they used Super Formula more, that might be a more compelling yardstick for F1 alongside the new F2 cars.

    Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz, had they both been promoted to RB from Toro Rosso, would’ve been the most balanced driver pairing on the grid. Max would still dominate but Sainz would definitely have put him under pressure. It would almost be like Hamilton and Rosberg at Mercedes.

    • @LawVS
      @LawVS  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Max and he know how each operate, at least at the beginning. Carlos would be able to shine in the early 2019 season and assert a decent input in the car. But yes, Max would still lead.

    The other thing to consider is. What does Red Bull have that no other team has directly on the grid?. Answer... 2 teams, 4 cars and 4 driver spots under their control. While they are not directly running both teams. As far as the shot callers for who goes where and when it's the same people that make the calls, Give seats to drivers. Also while their are deals done with customer teams. It's not the same as what Red Bull can do. Maybe if Red Bull didn't have that luxury they wouldn't treat drivers like they do. They would have to be like all the other teams.

    • @LawVS
      @LawVS  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Of course. It's great influence but they really should use those 2 junior seats to give new drivers a chance and help keep the younger drivers rolling...instead of keeping old rookies in limbo and hiring an old hand for marketing purposes.

    Since this channel seems to delve into the realm of what ifs, How about mapping out if:
    -the Kvyat/Max switch would not have occurred in 2016 each finishing out that season at RedBull/Toro Rosso respectively
    -Max's personal team pushes him to leave RedBull (as they said they would if nothing happened soon)

    Carlos is a classic Team Leader character. If he wouldn't have moded to Renault and then to MacLaren, his skills as a team leader wouldn't have shown especially if he played second fiddle to Max.
    Carlos might not have the outright speed and racing Genius of Max, but has a very intelligent and cool head on his shoulders that can not just focus on his own driving but the entire team's performance and build a good team. Its a quality that is seen in very few like Schumacher and Hamilton and a few others. That's something I would say Max lacks. On 26 November 2018, it was announced that Albon had been released from his Nissan e.dams Formula E contract after rumours he was to sign for Scuderia Toro Rosso in Formula One. On the same day, Toro Rosso announced Albon would join the team for 2019 alongside Daniil Kvyat and thus Albon's relationship with Red Bull, which had ended seven years prior, was restored.
      So I guess Red Bull would have kept Brendon Hartley at that point or have promoted someone else, although I'm not sure who.

Max’s raw talent and hyper-aggressiveness were exactly what Red Bull wanted, and they were content to let him develop that and nurture his talent, even if his hotheadedness led to costly mistakes. They have not shown the same willingness to develop any of the drivers in that second seat - it is very much a sink or swim position. Never a fan of speculative videos like this BUT if we're talking about Sainz, I'm in.
    Redbulls driver program is the worst it just keeps losing its own talent to other teams. Like Alpine but worse and less of a public display. Liam Lawson like Sainz shouldn't be resting its hopes on Redbull for 2025.
    For all of Markos speculation it's a Ferrari Academy driver in Redbull in the other seat for this year and next. You have a whole other F1 team and neither driver was ready to partner Verstapen in 2021?

    I think there is more to this issue. It's not just at Red Bull, all the academies are going to have to dump drivers who are anything less than spectacular because there just aren't enough seats. How many Red Bull drivers are in F2 this year? If Lawson is the best chance at a drive for 2025 and if he is given a couple of years to develop that shuts the door on all the others. They will have to go find drives in other categories. If they impress in those other categories maybe they will be considered for a seat in F1 a few years from now. Which in turn closes the door for some other driver who might just have won F2.
    I'm not saying this is a problem that needs to be solved. This is just how it is. Merely being good is not enough to get you a seat.

    In my honest opinion, one thing I’ve seen that I’ve questioned if was part of the Red Bull problem currently is their partnership with Honda as much as I’ve seen improvements from Yuki I genuinely do not ever see him in the Red Bull beside Max. I think they have two different of driving styles And I feel like that has a blocked a seat from a potential up-and-coming driver. I think Yuki would be great with a midfield team. I think he’s a very good midfield driver, but considering the pressure cooker that is Red Bull and the fact that they try and get drivers up into the top team to be battling at the front of the grid I just don’t see that for Yuki. I hope he stays in the sport And I hope that if Red Bull do drop him at the end of the Honda deal that he’s able to go find a seat in all honesty at this point, I would be OK with seeing Yuki go to William Haas alpha or if Alpine, really looking for a PR stunt, reunite, the duo of Yuki and Pierre. I feel like that is what is caused a lot of the blocks is because he’s there. Yes he’s grown a lot as a driver but I still do not see him at Red Bull. I do however see him at a midfield team doing really well. Am I honest opinion him blocking one of the seats for this many years slow down the conveyor belt of young drivers coming onto the grid from the Red Bull program That’s controversial but if you look at the statistical history of Red Bull, how many drivers on that junior team have had as many seasons as Yuki has without getting put into the big team, it just raises questionability as to if he’s there for the Honda partnership, and if they are kind of stuck with him right now, I think of a different environment with more of a smaller team that is separated from one of the big teams like hass Williams any other midfield teams really I think he would do a lot better in those environments I’m questioning part of why we’ve seen Yuki have these outbursts and anger episodes is partly because of the pressure of knowing that everyone expects you to move up to the main team, but that he has never gotten the call up could be weighing on him. There could be a lot that’s not known, but I would really love to see him drive for another team and I definitely believe that he is what slowed down the conveyor belt of drivers in the junior team

I think they deserve more praise than criticism for being in a driver flush position. Lawson realizes, just as Piastri did last year, that he must sit on the sideline, but be race ready - his time will come. If Lawson isn't going to stick around, it would be better for Williams to sign someone else who would have long term possibilities. Hell, even hanging onto Sargeant is better loaning Lawson for one year. At least you get some consistency, and the possibility of Sargeant finding some form.

    IMO hiring Ricciardo was RBRs biggest mistake for this year. Danny Ric takes the seat of any potential upcoming talent from F2 and there are plenty of those - that's assuming Yuki's seat is safe because... well, Honda. OFC Danny has not yet had many chances to show his talent, but I just think the risk of taking a new talent is well worth the risk of sacrificing an experienced driver. AT doesn't need an experienced driver like Ricciardo, they need raw talents like Max or Piastri in order to build them up for the Red Bull seat. I don't think Ricciardo will ever return to the Red Bull team, IMO there are greater talents that should be built up in AT in order to promote them to Red Bull eventually. AT seem to lose track of what their actual job is - bringing talents into the top team.

      Indeed. Checo was a "legend" in 2021.

    It's Marko and his inability not to be an old git that gives them problems.

    • @jvomkrieg
      @jvomkrieg 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And nah, i think what we would be talking about now is Sainz being burned out and having to rebuild himself. Red Bulls 2nd seat is a poison chalice because the team is geared around one guy more than any other team on the grid.

    Very interesting take!! But then again, if Daniel wasn’t a “wuss” (wanted to use a different word here) and didn’t leave RB for Renault, who knows what would’ve happened;)

    Sounds like Red Bull just needs to focus on developing drivers, instead of trying to find the next Max Verstappen. Guys like that are once in a generation or once in lifetime drivers. Let these young guys develop and if they cut the mustard, great, if not, they get cut. But they gotta stop comparing everyone to Verstappen.

    one thing I disagree the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP had that controversy never happened Verstappen would no have been champion he didn't win fair and square LH should have got 8th championship the only thing I disagree with with the 2021 when you said max would have won anyway, NO. FIA screwed up.

    • @LawVS

      I'm referring to the cutthroat promotion/demotion spree from 2017-present. If Carlos had stuck around in Toro Rosso for one more season, things would've been SO MUCH SMOOTHER. Like him.

    • @obud3777
      @obud3777 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Perhaps true, but the cutthroat promotion/demotion has delivered a lot of good drivers to F1, and Carlos and his father didn't want to be in a team with Max again, because they knew what he was capable off.@@LawVS

      You can't really compare Lewis to the modern rookies though. Max? You can't really compare him either since he came in with only one season of single seater racing behind him. I'd say Oscar and Liam are the best rookies since Lando.
