R.I.P Rashaan Salaam. Sports pressure is a serious thing. He reached a level I'm sure not many could understand the failure he must've felt right before deciding to end it. Great college player. Hopefully his legacy lives on in a positive way.
He also played in 2000 for the XFL's Memphis Maniacs and did very well. Had the league survived for a second season he may have gotten that second chance. NFL, for as much smack as it talked on the XFL had no problem poaching a lot of players from that league. One season wasn't enough to rehab his image with the NFL enough to get him a camp invite but two may have. That's a pretty big omission from the story
I like that "one more day" approach.. we all should apply that to our lives. Anytime you/we feel like giving up at something, tell yourself give it 1 more day. Work/business ventures can change overnight. Studies, you might not get it today but the lightbulb could come to you tomorrow. Relationship, yall not getting along today, never know what tomorrow will bring... but I will say relationship wise if it's a constant that yall not getting along, you probably be better off letting it go...
Giving it one more day as you said really impacted me just now. Sometimes we all go through things and have good and bad days but it's about knowing one bad day doesn't mean you have a bad life, and one bad thought doesn't mean it should be the end of your life! Stay blessed JC and thanks for the content as always. 🧡🙏🏾
One of his fellow Heisman nominees recalled going out on the town in NY the night before the ceremony. Salaam was noticeably nervous about winning the award, not losing!!! Apparently, he already foresaw the pressure the NFL would put on him once he had the Heisman, unsure about living up the label. His companion, a defensive player, tried to reassure him to see the positive and not let it psyche him out. Clearly he never got his mind right about the transition to professional football, by his own admission smoking away his career one joint at a time.
This is true for all of us. You can have wild success one day and then it’s all gone the next. It’s how you handle these ups and downs in life that make you strong.
One of the big problems with being truly great at something is if that thing gets taken away from you or your all of a sudden not great at it anymore for some reason then who are You? Your identity has been tied to that one thing so long it becomes who you are not just what you do. (at least that's how it appears) So at that point you feel like nothing because all your perceived value is tied to being great at that thing. Makes you feel like a failure and you feel like you let everybody down. Being great can be a blessing and a curse
About Ben no longer having professional structure… I remember a life where I almost lost basketball forever and I began to wild out for 9 years because I was in a league where the beauty of the game was stripped and my occupation was reminiscent of basketball principles, but my coworkers didn’t have the mentality I have.
I always thought it i retesting how Marvin O’Connor & Casey Jacobsen’s careers intersected in that tournament game…and how they both didn’t have success in the league, please don one or both of them stunted! Love the content man and keep blessing us! These youngs need these examples along with good guidance from parents n coaches…much love bro!

Kordell Stewart was the quarterback; Michael Westbrook and Ray Carruth were on that team too.
It is from He where we come and to he whom we shall return. Peace on his family. RIP. Mercy on his soul.

Him and Ki-Jana Carter in college!!!!
Carter was my favorite RB at that time I thought people forgot about him. He couldn’t get it going either but he’s still here
What’s crazy is my dad named me Rashaan after him .
I remember him & Erik Kramer was all our Bears had damn I’m gettin old😢
They had Curtis Conway too. But yeah, we're old.
One of the greatest eight man football high school players ever and a underrated track star as well
All you said is 100 percent right jc.
Great message at the end. Give it one more day

U know what’s crazy I was gonna ask you to do more nfl stunted growth stories cus it’s a lot, RIP 🙏🏾
Even MLB and NHL stunted growth
He was a hero of mine growing up in the 90's. It's a very tragic story and I feel very sad for him. He was a great athlete and a great human being.
Sometimes I am critical but this is a very well did video JC! Big ups
One of ur best videos as far a story telling from your end. Great writing

Will you be doing one on Darius Miles, the Alabama player who has been charged with supplying a gun used in a murder?
I've been seeing that on the news. Damn these off court activities these athletes get themselves into.

You should do Charlie Ward,, ka-jana Carter, rocket Ishmael and ishmael's little brother can't remember his name
Facts. 🙌
Qadry was the rockets younger brother. He actually had a pretty nice career.
Quadry was First Team All America at Syracuse; Nine years in the NFL and a Ravens Super Bowl Chip.
That Kobe arm band steal was assault 🥹🤣🤣
Can you do Penn Srate runningbacks or the Houston Cougars QBs from the early 90's? All failed in the pros.
I just said he should do ki-jana Carter next he was a running back from Penn State in my opinion he was better than Rasheed Salaam
If you’re going to do more football players you should do firmer running back Eddie Lacy.
I would like to know more about the short life of Keith Lee from Memphis St.
You know he's still alive, right?
@@TheRetroWoman80 I must be confused. I would love to watch a slick nine minute recap of his career.

Did you read the recent SI article about NFL players reacting to their former teammates dying young, on in some notable cases taking their own lives?
Still waiting for Carlton Hines
He was the one who was a slinging dope, right?
Do one on Matt Ryan

We need a stunted growth on peter Warrick and Allen iverson , and mike Vick
DaMn bro died on my bday smh rip 🙏🏾
We need a Kenny Brunner story.
Jason White. The OU quarterback would make a great stunted growth!
Lol that dude was in college forever
I don't think Jason White was good enough to begin with to count for Stunted Growth. He went undrafted.
@@capriquariusc1652 He did win the Heisman though.
