Dude! Yes queen! I wish more people would do this video. For me synthetic for powder is annoying. It absolutely effects the blending on powder pigment. I bought like 3 Mac 239 brushes before they switched to synthetic. That’s a brush I believe needs to be natural, the fact they changes the 217 is sooo sad to me! That brush gave a great blend.

Holly Quinn you can also try the Hakuhodo J series, they are amazing, and don’t get me started on the more expensive ones 😍

I'm gone be real. I love the real hair brushes. I haven't even tried the new ones and honestly don't want to. I figured they would perform like you said. MAC I'm sorry but I agree with Kelsee B.

I wish Mac would make a natural and synthetic option. I've been running around like a headless chicken collecting the natural brushes I need. I'll just have to take great care of them so they can last a lifetime.
Do you know if you can sill get the 221?
With those prices and the quality, I might as well buy Wayne Gross brushes. Real hair brushes provide a better application with certain products. I don’t know why they had to fix what wasn’t broken like you mentioned.

you make me fall back in love with my MAC eyeshadows.. I have a palette I made with all neutrals and I am going back to it.. I recently used them .. been buying to many random things that I have been dissatisfied with.. going back to MAC.. by the way.. bought the new Hourglass eyeshadow in Myth.. HATED IT! a POWDERY MESS!!

I was so disappointed when I heard MAC was going synthetic, but I was hopeful that maybe the new brushes would be good. Too bad they’re not. When all of MAC natural brushes are gone, I guess I’ll be buying more Wayne Goss...

The new synthetic Mac brushes sound like they’re going to be very similar to the Sigma ones that are alike in shape. When I first stated to learn eyeshadow techniques I was learning with sigma. Like the dupe for the Mac 217 ect. As soon as I went over to a Mac 217 & my Wayne Goss, Hakuhodo Brushes Of the same or very similar shape it stepped my game up so much. Made a huge difference. I have 1 Mac 217 & a heap of the Wayne Goss & Hakuhodo equivalents because I feel the natural hair makes all the difference for me.

I own only ONE MAC brush and it's the #217. I am IN LOVE!! with that brush. I've put it to rest bc I don't want ruin it and it gets old or shred. I didn't know they were switching out brushes. I'm hoping to find the old and stock up.
Hi Kelsee after watching your consistent uploads on Tom Ford products I decided to purchase the Travelers Perfecting foundations in shade 120 Macassar. I received it today and OMG what a beautiful finish it gives I am so in love. I will definitely be exploring more of his line because I'm a high end girl as well. I never even thought his line had a shade for deeper complexion. Again thank you I am loving the constant uploads and content, keep them coming.
I'm a Wayne Goss chick so after I found out MAC changed their 🖌 to synthetic I have not purchased any, not a one. I will be keeping & taking very good care of the original & few MAC 🖌 that I do own.
I love my natural hair MAC brushes! They are the first brushes I’ve ever purchased! So I am sad they changed them. But I will be going to MAC this weekend to get more of the natural hair brushes before they are all gone! Thanks for the video Kelsee!

Hey Kelsee. I'm with you. I love the 217 and 239, too. I have 10 of each and I'm not a MUA...lol. You're definitely right about needing to pack more eyeshadow on with the old 239. I may pick up a few new ones. The 217 is so perfect the way it is, though. I know you're happy that you have a lot of them.
Super informative & helpful, Kelsee! I love MAC brushes & was pretty shocked when I heard they were making the switch to synthetic hair a few months ago. I've only picked up one of the new synthetic brushes so far and have only tried it once so I'm still on the fence. On the other hand though, I have had my eye on the 135 brush for a while now and after hearing your review, I'm definitely going to pick up that one as well. It looked like it applied your bronzer very well! 👍🏻🙂💕

I wanted to see if you were going to compare any liquid foundation brushes but you didn’t. I have a synthetic one and a real hair one and I 1000% felt that the real hair one was better but I saw these great reviews about the other one that I thought maybe I was just crazy. After watching this, I’m convinced those great reviews are payed for. These synthetic brushes suck. Even when you asked at the beginning of the video which side was better, I said “left” immediately. (My left, your right.)

I have the Wayne Goss brushes and I love them. I do have 3 of the 217 brushes but am disappointed that they changed it. And the fact that they did so at the same price point. Quite frankly, natural and synthetic brushes don’t perform the same. Thanks for this review! 😊
thank you for an honest review and presentation of side by side comparison. Much appreciated. Mac is sneaky, to your point why justify paying same exact price for a lesser material, cheaper production? VERY unfair to consumer and also dishonest, I only started investigating this today when looking at my 217 brushes. Old one has no S behind it and new one does. I am in need of a new 217 however, I will see what options I have. I love MAC like you, been using their product since my teens as well and you're right, this is hard to accept. If they had integrity and honesty as a business, ethically speaking offer old inventory still, with new (less costly) inventory at a reduced price and see how sales are affected. That would be the right way of doing business, to please the CUSTOMER, not trying to look good. And like other comments stated, this was never announced? I agree with you that most brands with synthetic brushes most likely charge way less for similar quality. Mac are losing customer's faith and loyalty if they will continue on this path... Wow. Surprising.

Could you do a video on how to preserve the life and or take care of your brushes in order for them to last years, like the ones you already have had for years. Especially since I don't plan on buying any of the new Mac brushes, how can I help preserve the life of the brushes I already have.
I see the date on this, but girl, i did not know until today. Why change the classics? Thankfully, l i do have my favorites and some doubles, but man, now i feel like i have to be extra careful. They should have kept the 217, 219, 239, 227, 109, 187 and the 224 japan version (france 224 a bit scratchy). These are my favs in addition to the long gone but still loved 180 and 225. I understand environment stuff.....but you dont mess with a woman's tools.
Okay I read reviews on the Mac website and a lot of them said the new ones aren’t as good so I thought the natural side would look better. Before she said which sides were which I thought the natural side was the right one. Buuutttt the original ones are blending way better, but the new ones put out more pigment. Kind of just preference I feel like

I can't take the 217, I tried, spent 5 mins blending crease. I just cant.
I'm going to miss the natural hair brushes, thank goodness I purchased backups of the 221,239, 217 and the 242!

I loved the review. I wish mac would've added the synthetic brushes to their line. I feel they switched due to people constantly harassing them about being cruelty free. But I'm sure those people were buys other brands to begin with. I have an abundance of mac brushes and sadly they will be my last as i won't be getting any more. Unless i find the natural hair ones hiding in a store. I wish i bought more of my faves so sad about the change over.
Sorry I am commenting on an old video lol I have three of the new MAC brushes. I like them. I haven't had any problems. They are all face brushes. I would never pay $40 for an eye brush. I just wouldn't. I do not like the 116 either. I am getting rid of mine. It already has rust on it which is gross.

Johanna90 i don't really mind as i never bought their brushes but for the price of one synthetic you can get a set of synthetic brushes on Aliexpress that perform very well. You can try Beilli brushes. Their are very good n extremely soft
Sonia kashuk makes some really good brushes that are natural. The most expensive brush in her line is 18.99 and you can get them all at target. If you want superior quality natural hair brushes at a similar price to MAC, Hakuhodo brushes should be your first stop

Awesome Vid Kelsee. Love your stuff!!! The change makes me sad.... :-(. I think the best alternative for me in terms of natural hair is MORPHE for the price.....what do you think...?

looks like all brands are changing to synthetic - I'Mm thinking one of two reasons - cost or animal cruelity. La mer and Tom Ford to mention a few
I think it's to save on cost =save by using cheaper materials and maximize profits, not lowering the prices on the cheaper materials.
Not sure how I feel about it yet. The 217 and 221 are my all time favorite. I guess I can put up with some extra blending in the name of ending animal cruelty.
It's for the vegan market. You can collect animal hair without cruelty to animals...

Cannot even tell you how damn mad I was at this change. I wish that they had kept the original natural hair line and added the synthetic ones as another option, so you could choose either natural or synthetic for the same brush! I’m so paranoid now about losing my 217! I bought the 217s and noticed the difference straight away, it’s way too stiff and feels like a mini plastic paddle foundation brush. and does not blend out eyeshadow the way the beautiful fluffy natural 217 does. Any artist knows there is a massive difference in performance between natural and synthetic.

I totally agree with you +Kelsee Briana Jai ! MAC are a makeup artist staple, an integral part of any decent MUA's kit. They should always have both natural and synthetic options available so MUA's can get the application they are trying to achieve on their clients. This jumping on the bandwagon with the ALL Vegan trend is fine for Tarte or similar brands, but MAC really dropped the ball as a professional cosmetics brand...Not to mention, they didn't appear to put any real effort into making a quality facsimile of the original brushes. From what I can tell they didn't put a lot of thought into choosing fibers or ensuring the correct cut for the intended use of the brushes. There are companies that manage to make a fluffy synthetic blending brush perform damn near as well as natural hair brushes...consider iT cosmetic brushes, Sephora's brushes, and Real Techniques. MAC really doesn't have a leg to stand on with this brush release it's a major disappointment
Mac should've combined synthetic & natural hairs. Zoeva has great quality eyebrushes & price point is excellent.
I'm sooo sad lolol MAC brushes were the first high end brushes I ever bought with my little Einstein Bagel coins in my freshman and sophomore year of college. Now it's been 10 years and all my MAC brushes are still going strong... I just wish I had known so I could have gotten more 239s and 217s and what's worse is that my Macy's in my mall is closing down and MAC is gone😭😭😭

MAC was going to be my professional line that I wanted for personal use. I am disappointed about the change and price point. I would just stick with my Sigma before I pay the price for the new ones. Just my thoughts only....dh

Just an FYI MAC changed its brushes because of people complaining about animal cruelty. It's a pain for us artist. I prefer to buy my brushes in store and now I gotta online shop for natural hair.

I'm not the biggest fan of synthetic hair brushes. I probably won't be buying these new ones.
The synthetic brushes don't even look like the original brushes. They're smaller and much more dense. Sigma makes great synthetic brushes. I don't know why MAC couldn't do the same. I think they may have shot themselves in the foot with these brushes. MAC appears to be continuing on the down trend.
