    Yeah I’ve been in and out of landscaping for years. A summer here a summer there but I never actually got into the management and pricing side so and it was confusing at first. it would be nice to show these young kids a more descriptive detailed way to price if you could.

    About time you got back in front of the camera, I missed seeing you, Mike!! :)
    Walk behind brush hog (TOR BRC28 or Billy Goat) would be a good rental option for that job. Might only be a few hundred for an hour or two and could knock that all out much quicker than string trimmers. I don't know how that would affect all the other numbers, though!

    Just recently had my first recurring client set up. Her first mow was 110$ for just under 4k square foot of lawn. Why so expensive? It would have been even more expensive going off my regular pricing but i want to get customers before worrying about pricing to much. Her backyard grass was overgrown like crazy, the grass itself was just over a foot and a half tall with insane humidity captured under the grass causing mold AND grub growth. I checked the grass before mowing and yes its a combination of grubs and mold. Then there was some Japanese beetles to boots growing on some strange weeds iv never seen before that started growing in the lawn where a tree branch fell and was left for supposedly a month or so. The whole backyard is half the lawn size and requires push mowing because its on a lower level tier'd section with no access for riding mowers. I gave her a bid on weed management as well which would have made the total 385$ but she wants to wait on weed management. After the first mow I had 8 40gallon trash bags full of grass/mulch and lawn weeds. Took me about 3 hrs in sweltering heat. But now that her lawn is under control the regular cut is 35$ for our mowing bundle which includes trimming, debris pick up, and blowing. we charge 0.01$ per square foot and round down to the nearest whole number. We have a travel fee but right now with the heat causing all mowing jobs to be bi weekly instead of weekly, we have a summer special of no travel fee's within the county. Now lawn mowing is a 2ndary thing my business offer's as we primarily focus on lawn water issues. So Irrigation/sprinkler systems, french drains, gutter cleaning, downspouts, pressure washing. We offer mowing for a little extra side money and offer incentives to bundle mowing with other services so our customers can get a slight discount for using us for multiple services.

    Two guys with Sthil kombi units could knock out that HOA area no problem and would be safer than having heavy equipment rental. I have run into issues with a area like that before and crush storm water drainage that was unknown to be in place. We ended up have to redo the Swell and added Riprap to keep in good standing with customer.
    I’d say two guys on a hot day would charge closer to $50hrly and buy the guys refreshments to keep hydrated.

      It’s called overhead recovery. The equivalent is raising your hourly rate a bit more.

    • @mobiussquadron

      I imagine its where its for a company for a large project in which case $100 isn't much. I'd imagine that's somewhere between a 1,500-2k quote with it being manual labor. Say 10 guys @ 30 an hour would probably take 3 hours~ (guessing here) so Labor would run 900 ish, with a 600$ profit for the company? If someone had equipment to have it cleared in 30 minutes I'd guess about 650-850, but they are paying more for the lack of equipment on site.
      I doubt they really tack on much of an e-fee , if any at all, for regular retail customers with a basic yard.

    I don’t understand why he is push mowing that yard. It way slower and more physically taxing. If I need to cut customers I think I would have cut every push mow yard a month ago. I really don’t understand why you’re doing it. If someone could explain that would be great.

    • @downunderfulla6001
      @downunderfulla6001 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That yard if not wet/soggy needs a ride on/stand on first time at least. But normally a Ride on/stand on are for industrial or large scale properties. No one wants a lazy landscaper ejecting clippings all over the place. A push mower should always be used on residential properties.
      It also shows how professional you are wether you snip/edge first or spread all the long edge trimmings everywhere over your work.

      @Mike Andes I'm interested to know how you sneak that 100 dollars in on the bill 😆. People don't throw a fit about that?

    • @jleuty591
      @jleuty591 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or how do you even present that in your first bill is what im asking I guess. Cause I know yall can give an estimate right over the phone and usually do from what I see on the shorts clips. And it just usually goes "were gonna charge you $39 dollars weekly mam" and they are all like "oh yea great."
      Where does the conversation go after that to present your e-fee.
      100 dollars seems like a lot TO ME to add.
      Is it over time or just first bill? Curiosity has got me here.
