How My Life Has Changed Since I Moved From America to Australia

  • I've lived in Australia on a working holiday visa for 8 months now, and I almost don't recognize who I was before I left the United States. This is my journey as a mid-20s woman who moved from New York City to chase my career goals to Sydney Australia to live out my dream of traveling full-time.

I count myself blessed that I live in such a wonderful country which I only came to by chance. Remember this always! YOU WORK TO LIVE! YOU DO NOT LIVE TO WORK! So many people just keep digging in to keep up with expectations that can have serious results for mental health. That you picked Australia to get yourself out of your stressful lifestyle seems to have been a stroke of luck, or was it. No explanation why you picked Australia. Having the sun beat down on you for mainly 12 months is a blessing but also the laid back nature of Aussies would certainly help. Added to a high level of wages, health care among other items of livability, you have seemingly hit the jackpot for yourself. Good story.

Australia has changed and become more stressful just like the rest of the western world sure, but we are still quite laid back compared to most, even the anzacs bro how many military’s are you going to see in world war 2 cruising around with shorts on having a laugh and strolling through a warzone like a tradie on lunch break.

@@Jackmonkey66666hghinnv Well if it's any consolation, I can't tell if you're trolling either. I mean telling me about what a bunch of aussie soldiers did in WW2? Newsflash, it's not the 1940s anymore and Australia today is nothing like what it was back then. People are laid back in small country towns, not in Sydney. Australians in the major cities are generally the total opposite of laid back. It's a very high stress, aggressive culture while being a politically correct nanny state at the same time. If you want to see what a laid back, friendly culture is like then go to southeast asia or south america.

@@earthwormjim3269 bro are you faded that’s kinda the whole point of cities period, there’s no city on earth that is heavily populated that’s “laid back” or stress free that should be a no brainer. The ww2 reference was to point out the Aussie spirit at its finest is laid back and chill, just because it’s not like that in the cities doesn’t mean it’s not still a thing in Australia in general.

Sometimes we take for granted the place we live, well done 👍 Australia is a place of new beginnings, it takes a long time to build family here , many come without their parents or siblings and leave large families, children grow up without grandparents ,that’s the hard part , being a big country just moving to another state can seperate family, I believe this is why people are so friendly, those with large families have it all, but many struggle and are looking for belonging . If you come here this is the tough part of Australia even though to get back home is a day away . Most return for this reason , but many regret it, too.

I've stumbled on this video because I think TH-cam has run out of things to recommend to me. And I'm bored enough to watch. I don't say that to be negative toward you, it's just a sad reality of where I'm at.
I encourage you to chase your dreams but grasp them with both hands. And APPRECIATE them. Those of us with invisible disabilities (mine is, Autism, ADHD, depression, enxiety), don't get to dream, lest they be crushed. Each. And. Every. Time.
    Good luck to you.

I thought this would be another vid the same as the others on this topic. It's not. It is really wonderful. I'm loving the narration and thoughtfulness.
