Kyrie Irving in High School | Sophomore Highlights

- Here is MKA 5'10" Sophomore guard, Kyrie Irving. Before attending national powerhouse St. Patrick High School, Kyrie played his first two years at a small private school; Montclair Kimberley Academy.
During his years playing for MKA, Kyrie averaged 26.5 points, 10.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 3.6 steals. He also, as a sophomore, became the school's 2nd 1000-point scorer. He led MKA to it's first NJ Prep-B State title, that same year.
The first part of the video shows the Prep-B Semi-Final round; MKA vs Solomon Schechter (2-time defending champs). The last part shows MKA vs University, where Kyrie scored 47 points. (This was only 1-point shy of his career high of 48 points). - กีฬา
99 in layups, even then.
It's wild, he looks the same as he does today, just shorter. The jumper, handles, reflexes, agility and speed were all there already
Keep in mind he was a 5'10 gard that averaged over 26ppg, 10 assist, and 4 steals as a sophomore.
@Bquitin a sophmore
Yeah, that following summer he sprouted up to 6’2”
Pure talent
yeah against 5 foot 2 asian kids in that league...

it's crazy how much elite talent can standout even at an early age. He isn't tall here, 5'10" at most, but he seems to just be moving at a different speed from everyone else. His open court speed is insane, his change of direction and balance are insane, his back cuts are too quick for defenders, his ability to finish with either hand, his jumper. The way he just ran back to block a shot at the corner of the half court. NBA players are just different breeds.
A Sophomore He's 5'10 I assume Starting Varse PG And hits a GW Fadeaway 3 in the corner? He's a beast.
15-years old, a legit sophomore.
*Irving and curry one on one, Irving puts it up, it's good, Kyrie Irving from downtown*
He was good...but he didn't have the level of respect/recognition he deserved, his early years in high school. Nobody really knew who Kyrie Irving was during this time - unless you were from NJ.
They know now. Im 24 and played naia in college. I cant think of another player as popular and with the colt following he has to not be the best player in the league. He is by far the most exciting to watch in the nba! For him to not even be a top 5 player in the league to have the popularity he has is just credit to his game.
@@Shane.Roberts obviously they know now dumbass he’s in the NBA.
Then how did he get to duke if he wasn’t rlly known
@@jaybuckets3189 aau, camps, exposure and transferring to st pats
@@Shane.Robertsnba really be black balling him
Congrats to Kyrie for earning the NBA All-Star Game MVP...new video will be released chronicling his rise to the NBA...will feature highlights dating back to his Freshman year in high school.

Yeah. It was for the NJ Prep-B State Tournament, Semi-Final Game. There's about 4.3 seconds remaining in the game, and Kyrie's team is down by 1; 52-51. Then he hits a gamewinning fadeaway 3 from the corner.
WestOrangeHoops that’s the school I go to, it called Golda Och academy
It all we talk about
this was varsity ? everybody looked so small
Yeah this was varsity, for MKA. He played his first two years at MKA, and then his last two years at St. Patrick's.

Nice footage!
Thank you...more footage coming soon !
Bruh Kyrie had CLAMPS back then damn
No dis to Kyrie but it's very easy to look like Gary Peyton on d when your guarding a bunch of 5'11 unathletic white boys
John Davis he’s actually very good on defense just only chooses to play it 100 percent his all either when he wants or important moments
@@johndavis9321it’s been talked about he’s a great defender he just doesn’t do it as much in todays game bc it takes a lot of energy
Was kyrie irving their whole team or what lol
@Raphael Aronson u were the same team as kyrie
what an atmosphere !
Kid with a bright future above him, I could see him in the Cavs and with that ball handling he would make a good point guard.
nah he ain't never making to the nba
im thinking more the celtics
Celtics now
Nets would be a good team for him too. I hope he gets to play with KD soon
I think he wins 2022 championship alongside KD too
This guy should be in the nba.
Hahahahahah
This guy was first pick in 2011 NBA Draft lol
Vuk Obradovic Its a joke
Still could do acrobatic layups in highschool
Kyrie got quadruple team in 1:37
Man this dude just gifted! God given ability and Genetics? Has any one ever saw his dad ball? I wonder how much of his game did Kyrie get?
Even back then he was Mr. 4th Quarter.
Was that you that said "yeahhh" at 4:09 ?
I hope he makes it to the nba. Maybe he can win a chip with the cavs one day
Kyrie was a beast.
Funny you say that, my son is 12 and a legit 7th grader balling with other "7th graders" that are about to turn 14 before the end of the school year in 2014.
Destine for greatness.
U was right
Yeah he started dunking that season, his sophomore year.
he looks more athletic here, just shows how tough the nba is
when did duke start looking at him?
Who filmed this?
A student of ours back then.
Sorry you got ur response 7 years later lol.
many nba superstars played JV. Chris Paul and Michael Jordan played JV as sophomores.
Still does play good defence
when Jordan played high school that was a different time. its not like it is today. and Chris Paul CHOSE to play JV as a freshman and sophomore. he didn't want to play behind his brother who was taller and slightly better/older. but he certainly wasn't not good enough to play varsity.
This Kyrie kid has good potential
Bro imagine him hoopin' as a toddler O.O
i swear... that goal looks like my 40 yr old 5,0 grandma could reach. that thang small.
Karmaa Really niggA
MAAN WHAT A BEAST!!
Did Kyrie do some intense weight lifting at this age?
ths is ridiculous considering he was 15 years old!!!!
Lol why dose kyrie look so small when hes on the nba court lol
I’m number 32 for Immaculate in the thumbnail. Is it a way you can send me that pic I’d appreciate it.
Kyrie was the real deal as a freshman also.
Yea

His style of game is still very similar lol.
I was expecting some kid crossing everybody over
he gonna be NBA player
is this JV or Varsity
i moved to west orange when he was in the 8th grade all i heard about as far as Basketball was Kyrie this Kyrie that. He lived up to all the Hype and MORE!!!!!
He is The Real Deal!!!! I hope next Season he can stay healthy all the way through!!!!
and Get the Hell Out of Cleveland if they don't bring someone else in to give him some breathing room!!!!!
Maybe if lebron comes back they can win a ring
@timoslice97 hell no; Derrick went to Simeon High
its crazy theres no legit sophomores now

Lol no
When did Kyrie Irving studied in Montclair Kimberley Academy? and when did he transfer to St. Patrick High School?
Mka first two years
St.parricks last two
I told y’all he’ll be a bust
...
his teammates were trash. good thing he moved lol
o3t0r1ya he ain't move just transferred to another private school.
D 1990 ....so he moved (aka transferred) to another school...
No he moved because he said it was to easy for him and needed a better challenge but i agree his teammates were pretty bad lol
So fundamentally sound, and a complete dog... at that age, is ridiculous
