It can definitely be done either way, this is just the safer option and a much easier way to learn. I to this day still have my truck in the pocket on the coping when I do these and I highly recommend it. It'll help for other tricks too!
I’ve been skating for years and I’m fairly decent but I e always avoided transition or anything ramp oriented because my center of gravity seems to be in my forehead or something lol. Hopefully this helps me with these basics today on my sesh!
IM SO CLOSE TO LANDING THESE. I can 50 50 grind and stall but i cant bring myself to keep my back foot on when coming back in. I know its all about commitment.. I WILL GET IT TODAY 🤘
Been watching all your vids mans. Hope the knee been good. I just started skating again at 40 years old me and my 19 year old son took it up. Been 20 years. I was pretty decent when I was younger. But man it took me a month just to be able to skate without pulling muscles every time. Body is getting used to to it. I’m trying to learn rock to fakie but the fear of hanging up is getting me. Also I only have a 6th mini ramp to practice on. Wish there was one smaller near me. I live near Philadelphia so I skate pennsauken skate park in New Jersey. Grindkings built it about 2 years ago and it so nice and smooth. I find at my age I really enjoy transition skating more than street. Even though the fall on transition can be worse. I find just carving around really fun. But I want to get my axle stall and grinds back so I can do a nice line. I can do rock to fakie. I’ve done it a few times but man that fear at our age is unreal😂😂
You skate at all the parks I skate. I'm 42 and am having problems getting this trick. I'm a pretty decent skater, it's just this trick has always evaded me (axel stalls and Slappy's). Teach me please? Haha
This is precisely how I just taught myself. Wish I would’ve watched this sooner!
I've always locked the trucks all the way over and brought them back in. Never been a back pocket guy, but I'll give it a go. Very thorough video.

Any chance you could do a Backside or Frontside 360 tutorial?🌪
I plan to do frontside 360 at some point! Still healing from this extremely stressful knee injury so I still can't pop my board. It's so brutal.
My issue is that when I do it, my body weight is still in the ramp and whenever I try to stand up on the ramp, I always undershoot it
Same here i stall but i feel im always on the inside of the transition and when i try to lock in with my heels my trucks slip out
