Love watching the Roses but Canada did very well with only 14 players on the field.

Really enjoy the women’s game , the less pressured defence allows the excellent skills to shine . The first try with the throw to the tail could not have been executed any better , the co ordination required to get the timing , lift , and throw so that the ball is taken in a position to isolate a number of Canadian forwards is incredible .

I thought that Amber Reed had a good match and her try was probably the pick of England's five. After missing last year's World Cup I hope that both she and Natasha Hunt make the trip to NZ this autumn.

Great to see the irrepressible Meg Jones back in the team. She's been a standout in sevens. Canada are improving.

I was more impressed by a 14 team Canada than England. I understand that it is a new coaching team and they were ringing the changes in the squad, but that performance was quite a long way off the standard that they were playing earlier this year, imo.

England are missing a step since Middleton left.

Alcroft should have touched the ball down on instead of allowing it to go into touch. Overall not the best performance from England. There is a lot to work on.

Putting Abby Dow on the bench is unforgivable, something the previous head coach Simon Middleton would never have done unless Abby was not fully fit. This new or standing in coach should stick to his old role as forward coach and find someone better!

He's just shifting players around, and seeing who goes where.
The strength in depth of England, is ridiculous. And it's a problem. That's how good England are. Dow and Breach are often benched. Ridiculous.

If there was a WC final next week I think that Abby Dow would be assured of her place on one of the wings and it's a toss-up between Jess Breach and Claudia MacDonald who would start on the opposite flank. Helena Rowland didn't feature at all yesterday but I'm sure she'd be guaranteed her place at 13 and it's between Heard, Amber Reed and Megan Jones who would start at 12.
