I made this on monday just with a different method. I vacuum packed it and souis vide it in the instant pot for 36 hrs then presure cooked the potatoes, carrots and cabbage in the meat juices with a little beer. First time I've souis vide and it's changed my life lol.
im waiting on my new instant pot duo evo and when it comes in,first thing im gonna try is the souis vide function,i pre ordered it becuse it was out of stock so its not coming until 23rd of march,my birthday is on st pattys day,so im goong to make my corned beef like this but next time the way you did it,i cant wait to try it,i have an instant pot 8 quart ,but i bought the 6 quart duo evo or evo duo lol just because of the souis vide function, did it come out perfect?
I pressure cook my corned beef too. I cook the corned beef the same way for 90 minutes. I, then put my veggies in and hit the soup button It comes out perfect Thank you for your video
This recipe is a great guideline for how to do corned beef and cabbage. I've just recently gotten an instapot/pressure cooker and have done a whole chicken, roasts with potatoes, carrots, mushrooms & onion (in a foil pack on top of the meat for the whole cook time of the roast and it came out beautifully) and was definitely going to do corned beef as well. So this guideline will be perfect! I plan on adding onion to my veggies and instead of all that water, 32oz of a dark beer (type unknown at this time but a Kona Brewing Nut Brown & Guinness has been used before and been wonderful). I also plan on adding a clove of garlic sliced up. Thanks for putting this out there and Happy St. Paddy's day early!
Glad you enjoyed the video DL... thanks for sharing that!!! The beer sounds like a really good addition... thanks for watching and happy St Patrick's Day to you also!!!
I too have always used beer. Usually a good German beer or something just as good as a German beer, the original Style Michelob. I wouldn't make a corned beef without the beer. like the other reply said the beer makes corned beef really good.
Yeah I was going to say he forgot the beer, Pearl onions, and garlic. But it looked amazing anyway. Might have to make it for Christmas instead of my usual tamales.
That is Amazing! I did it that way a couple of years ago and I will never go back to stove top or even crock pot. The only thing I did different is I used a 12 oz can of Beer instead of the Beef Broth. Then I added additional water once the brisket was in. The beer takes it over the top. It adds a mellow flavor to the Corned Beef, you don’t taste the beer flavor. I don’t even like the taste of beer, but for this dish, it is necessary! Give it a try! Thanks again John , love to you and Baby Doll. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!☘️☘️☘️☘️❤️❤️❤️❤️!
That sounds like a really good combination... and I totally agree with the only way to do it... thanks for sharing your method Barbara and happy St Patrick's Day to you from me and Baby Doll !!!
I need your corned beef and cabbage. It was the best corned beef and cabbage I ever ate. Thanks for your video pressure cooking is the way to go with corned beef
This looks great I am going to try it. the only change I do is fill the spice pack in a tea ball so the seasonings don't get all over the food and you still get the flavor.
This was perfecto!! The best. Watched different videos on Corn beef dinner. Thank you for not cutting off the cabbage stem.. I do this too, none of the other videos did. Enjoy your videos
Woo I've been doing instant pot corned beef since after last thanksgiving. My mom was really hungry so I took my normal boiled corned beef out after 2h instead of 4, and it was tough. So I did a few experimental cooks in my instant pot at home for next thanksgiving and yeah, it does corned beef right. So tender!! Will try this recipe on the next one, looks great and a John Sanders recipe has never once disappointed on my instant pot or my foodi grill! I use the duo evo plus.
This wonderful. I haven't cooked corned beef, cabbage, etc in the pressure cooker before. I am definitely going to try it.Thank you so much for the demonstration.
Mr. John I usually do mine fat side up after I score it and rub the seasoning packet in. I just feel like when the fat melts with the seasoning the meat taste better and is more tender. I'm going to try it your way this weekend! Thank you for all of the videos, some of us young cooks like them very much
I'm sure your way works well also... I've never tried scoring and rubbing the seasoning in but that does like a really good idea... thanks for sharing that...and thanks for watching!!!
In our home, we always served ours in a bowl with a ladle and transfer the meat and veggies to our own individual "bowl / plate" much like an 8" wide soup bowl that's shallow, we ladle the juices over all and it's like a wet stew? LOL but it's GREAT!
Perfection! I'm making that next week. Oh my gosh, I love the idea of handles on the inner pot. If my OG Instant Pot stops working or it finds a good home, I would definitely look to replace it with that one.
Hey hjey... It was such fun doing this.....Did just what you did but with Guinnes Stout.....It was yummy with first serving ....And for two days after ! I have one more Corned Beef Flat to use and it's going to be equally as delicious and enjoyable to make....Thank you for putting this together.....I just loved it... :) !!
So glad to hear the Z...I ate on mine for 2 or 3 days too...lol... it is a truly impressive meal... thank you for trying the recipe and sharing your results!!! Vita Z!!!
Thanks for the video, John. That recipe looks awesome and I am anxious to try it. I really like the features on that new Instant Pot model...Always something to tempt me to buying a new kitchen gadget...LOL I really like the idea of the handles on the pot liner....the diffuser and separate release buttons for releasing the pressure... Off topic- I am also intrigued with the new Blackstone Indoor 17" Electric non-stick Griddle (only at Walmart currently)... Thanks, as always for all that you do on your channel.....
John I wanted to tell you I followed your recipe for this and it was out of this world so tender to OMG thank you. I have a Ninja Foodi Happy St Patty's Day
Jelly 007 - All’s well ... the 3.5lb brisket just fit onto the 6qt InstantPot & 90 minutes on high cooked it well. The veggies at 5min were perfect. Thanks again.
I have all the faith in the world in you... you will be the star of the house tonight... please let me know how it turns out!!! And thanks for watching!!!
Totally agree on leaving the core of the cabbage intact for cooking, been doing that for corned beef since I was a kid, total mess otherwise. Not much effort at all to cut it once it's cooked an makes life so much easier. I've been starting the meat for 90 on high, then dropping in veggies the size of the smaller potatoes you had in and moving it to medium slow cook, drop cabbage quarters in about an hour before its going to be just about falling apart which is how I like the corned beef. Going to give this approach a shot, the speed may be well worth it, will see what effect it has on the brisket texture vs my normal method.
You did it....! Thank you so much...I can't wait to do this....it's perfect! I have two pkgs(in case I ruin one)....I have the 6qt. I LOVE that one pot wonder...handles are super.. Handsome machine...isn't it? Alrighty...I really wanted you to do this...I love having one place to come for everything...My pksg are the flat...I'm sure it doesn't make any difference..:) Appreciate seeing the difference with potato sizes... it's just a very yummy meal easy to make...Thank you again..:) ( I have the Guiness Stout & think I'll try that with one of the pkgs)
I can't wait to hear how yours comes out vita Z... that Guinness stout sounds like a really good idea!!! glad you enjoyed the video Z... thanks for watching!!!

I'm cooking this right now. I saw mushroom stock at the store and had to try it along with some Guinness. I sliced an onion and put it in there too because it just seems strange to me to not have onion in a dish like this. I hope you'll do videos for shepherd's pie and Irish stew. Also, do you have any good ideas for how to use that cooking liquid? I'm thinking I might use it to cook some rice.

Perfect Meal!!! Way to jerk at an Irish Girls Heart, John. I could never go without Corned Beef & Cabbage on St Patrick's Day. I've got my new costume all ready to go on the 17th and our CLAN Marching will begin. We couldn't do it last year, so I have double efforts to make up for the lost time. Now all I can think about is eating the IRISH SUPPER. Did you know you can turn it all green with a little food paste colouring? lol I also have 2 Steam Diverter covers for the Pressure Release Valve for the Foodi. One makes a whistle like an old steam train did, and the other is a silicon yellow minion. They are available all over the place. I think I got mine on Amazon. Now I've lost all Interest in my Instant Pot and dedicated to the Ninja units. I even got Ninja pots and pans now because of their durability and scratch resistance. And I can use metal utensils in them. I don't but I could. I'm a bit shocked you didn't clip off that silver skin on the top. I hate that stuff on my meats. I always brown meats to put a good sear on them, before I pressure cook them. I'd like to know if the bay leaves made any kind of a difference in the taste? I've not used it in this, but I do in may other things like stews and stoups. Then I simply pick them out the same way. In the compost they go.
Glad to hear a true Irish girl enjoyed my corned beef and Cabbage video!!! I hope your the celebration goes well and y'all have a lot of Irish fun!!! (One less thing to clean....) I like the beer suggestions that I'm reading here. Personally, I'll ditch the bay leaves - can't ever taste them - and the carrots - my least favorite veggie, unless shredded and cooked down to a mirapoix. Your cabbage looks great!
That would be a great first recipe if you ask me...I didn't sear mine but you could definitely do it on the instant pot... the beer sounds like a good idea too...thanks for watching!!!
What model # for your new Instant Pot, It funny how we all cook different, I use my Ninja Foodi along with 2 cup of beef broth, I leave the air fryer basket in and just fill the up to the bottom of the basket the Corn Beef never is in the broth, I cook pressure mine for 1hr and 5 min, the take it out to rest, put in my Veg along with the cabbage and pressure cook it for 20 min, you do great work a lot better them some on youtube
It is model...PRO CRISP AF 8... and I agree that we do and I think youtube has kinda exposed that a lot...lol...I never watched my mother cook this but I think she cooked her cabbage etc a good bit further than this and I never had a problem...lol... but now I research everything as I'm sure you do and it has taught me a good bit and I have had some considerable fun doing that... but thank you and I'm glad you enjoy my videos!! And thank you for watching them!!!
Probably doesn't mean much in this situation but I serve it fat cap down too so I think it presents a little better but I'm sure it would be fine in this situation either way...thanks for watching!!!
Hey John I want to ask you where did you buy that quick cool attachment for the instant pot pro crisp because I ordered one from Amazon but it's not the right 1 so where do I get the 1 for my instant pot pro Chris and air fryer please help me or anybody can help me
Yeah I called Amazon and I looked online but they only have it for the evil dual plush they don't have it for the same instant pot that we have so I'll try that again or I'll call instantpot I saw your video for a whole chicken that seems pretty good brother alright looking forward to eating really healthy right now I'm making a yogurt and I got 3 more hours left so I put it for like 9 and 12 hours and then I'll strain it then I got Greek yogurt for tomorrow morning yummy yum yum great job on the videos brother from David from Toronto Canada
@@JohnSanders Just to let you know......the dinner I fixed yesterday was awesome! I followed your directions using the Guinness instead of broth and OMG!! Perfection!!! Keep up the good work! Oh......I also use your Whole Chicken direction.....perfect every time!

I think you are going to be impressed Bruce... let me know what you think and thanks for watching!!!
I think your ceiling cam would be in trouble when instant releasing the pressure ;)
Still waiting for the Pro Crisp to be released here in Europe... :)
It is a very nice machine!!...thanks for watching!!!
Hey Mr.Jelly. What’s your theory on why you cook the meat with the fat cap down?
Probably doesn't mean much in this situation but I serve it fat cap down too so I think it presents a little better but I'm sure it would be fine in this situation either way...thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Every video I've ever watched...all put fat down.. :)
Would you say that Instant Pot Pro Crisp is better than Ninja Foodi MAX?
HI John, could you just clarify something for a UK viewer such as me? Is the corned beef salted by the producer?
Yes... or... if I understand it correctly... it is actually brined in a liquid salt solution...thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Thanks John! 🙂
Hey John I want to ask you where did you buy that quick cool attachment for the instant pot pro crisp because I ordered one from Amazon but it's not the right 1 so where do I get the 1 for my instant pot pro Chris and air fryer please help me or anybody can help me
It's been awhile but I got it from instant Pots website
Yeah I called Amazon and I looked online but they only have it for the evil dual plush they don't have it for the same instant pot that we have so I'll try that again or I'll call instantpot I saw your video for a whole chicken that seems pretty good brother alright looking forward to eating really healthy right now I'm making a yogurt and I got 3 more hours left so I put it for like 9 and 12 hours and then I'll strain it then I got Greek yogurt for tomorrow morning yummy yum yum great job on the videos brother from David from Toronto Canada
Instead of the Beef broth, could I use a Guinness beer?
I'm sure... and that might be better!!! Thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Just to let you know......the dinner I fixed yesterday was awesome! I followed your directions using the Guinness instead of broth and OMG!! Perfection!!! Keep up the good work! Oh......I also use your Whole Chicken direction.....perfect every time!
Thank you very much for sharing your method and results... glad you enjoyed it and thanks again!!! We do whole chickens here a lot also!!!
The recipe isn't listed??
I may try to tow it up and add it to the description in a little while...thanks for watching
What no onions?
I debated using one under the roast cut into small pieces instead of the trivet but decided not... but I'm sure it would be good with one...thanks for watching!!!
