I have a stg3 2.0 makes 300 wheel hp 350 wheel tq with 2 bolt ons, mishimoto intercooler and PLR intake. On 91. With the 10sp it is not a car to be underestimated.

This 10sp has been around and people know its legs. 4 years in the accord alone and there are tons of 2018 accords making more power than my car and havent broken yet. Now im sure if you go upward of 450+ it absolutely will not hold up. I built this car so my wife could drive it to work, and I could press the sport button and it goes into lunatic mode when im bored.
Agreed! I just installed an intake and the flex fuel package with a tune from Hondata and 😳. It'll keep up with the stock Coyote mustangs and still get 35mpg on the interstate. Great balance

Sam, I suggest you redo this race but with a different driver in the manual Accord. I still expect it to lose but at least it wont seem as if you were racing an amateur. After that horror show from the driver I expect that Accord to have significant wear on the clutch and pressure plates
I love the race videos. I wish that the drivers would switch cars after half of the races, especially when manual transmission cars are featured. I know many of those cars are privately owned. Very often they are sweet rides, but the owners dont do them justice with their driving.
There is no denying the civic type R that vehicle is hard too beat and is the best in it's segment and a blast too drive. But the boy racer looks kills it for me I'd go with the Accord.

Automatic transmissions are now faster and more reliable then manuals. I have seen the new 2.0T accord in a 10 speed automatic beat a manual 2017 and 2018 mustang 5.0s at the drag strip. Accord gets them off the line by a full car or more and it's over. Love my accord, fun fast and very reliable 🤘🤘
Accord its a family car with a turbo. It cannot take fast corners because its too heavy, it wont hold a full track cricuit competition because it will overheat, brakes wont last . You cannot drift with an accord or make donuts
It's pretty simple the rwd stinger will beat the type s, the type s and the awd stinger will be dependent on the driver and best launch who will barely squeak out a win. There saved you some time.
Umm... double clutching would be even slower. You have to clutch to go from gear to neutral, let the clutch out, then clutch again from neutral to gear. Double clutching is for non-synchro transmissions, which are very rare now, but may still be found on heavy industrial equipment.
We just bought my daughter a 2021 Accord Sport 2.0 with the 10 speed auto, for her college graduation present. That car is awesome! I love to drive it. I have a Lexus ES 350 that is great to drive. That accord is so nice, though.
I own both a 2011 335i (xDrive) e92 coupe and 2019 Accord 2.0T Sport 10-sp. My 335i (6-sp. Auto) is considerably faster than my Accord A10 and takes off like a bat out of hell with no wheel spin, while the Accord doesn't have good traction (soft suspension and torque mounths) off the line, but even from a roll of any speed I have left all 2.0T Accords in the dust that had the guts to race me when I am out with the 335i. The 3.0L Turbo Bimmers are real fast. I like my Accord for a daily, but man that 124mph top speed really kills me. I 've had slower cars I beat on the highway pass me because of the dang speed limiter. I recently drove a newer 340i loaner while my 335i was at the dealer getting fixed (Bimmers break down all the fricking time) and it was even faster than my 335i. Your buddy's "inline 6" turbo Bimmer probably needs a tune up or repair if you are beating him with your Accord. He probably has a vacuum leak and doesn't know it. I had one and my 335i lost 25-30% power. My advice to you is NOT to try to race the 6 cyl. Turbo BMW's. You won't win, even with a stage-2 tune, especially if the Bimmer is AWD. Just look at the perf. stats. 6cyl Bimmers are in the 12's in the 1/4 mi. The fastest I 've seen a stock Accord 2.0T do the 1/4 is 14.1 sec. That's a big difference and translates to several car lengths. You will have to show me a video spanking 6 cyl. turbo Bimmers with your Accord, because I beat 2.0T Accords all the time with my 335i, and just by owning both I can tell you I would not even tune my Accord for more power unless I upgrade the suspension or put coilovers on it to keep the front planted, and it will probably need an LSD to get a decent launch to stand a chance against a 6cyl. Bimmer. The suspension setup and motor mounts on the Accord are not made to even handle the power that it comes with from the factory and torque steer will be very costly to eliminate, if that's possible. You can see in this video the tuned manual Accord steering to the left for a few seconds after the launch, and so did the A10 Accord but not as much as the first with more power.
I hope both are excellent drivers and actually know what they are doing. Even so. The Accord is going to get demolished. The 10 speed auto fairs much better against the Type R then the manual Accord.

It takes less than 2k to get the Accord to almost 400Hp.. Just need the Type R turbo which bolts right on and a tune.. And you have 360-380ish HP to the damn wheels..

Looks like if that civic was like almost every other civic I've seen with 250# of speakers and amplifiers in the trunk, it would have been perfectly matched. Honestly tho, the early 2000's V6-6 speed Accord was fast as you could possibly need on public roads. I had to watch my speed in that car because it went stupid fast and was so smooth and quiet, it was hard to keep it under 100 on the highway
2020 2.0T Sport 10spd with a K Tuner here…it never gets old seeing the dumbfounded look from the drivers of Type Rs, Mustangs, and WRXs when they’re getting walked by a grocery getter.
10 gears vs 6 will always be better, car can stay in its best rpm range a lot longer. To bad they don't make more trans with more gears for small vehicles

Certainly an interesting drag race, but I'd take the Type R 10 out of 10 times for a fun, driver-focused, with one of the best manuals out there, and a shockingly good EPAS system. Then again, I've always enjoyed twisty back roads over straight lines ;)

I own a 2018 2.0t 6 speed. Very rare to find and Inlove the car. Just changed to eagle exhilerates and I think the main issue here is no traction. I used to peel 1-4th gear and I’m stock. I still think the 10 speed might be a little faster but much closer now. I can’t burn the tires in 2-4th now. The car is probably 0.5 seconds quicker to 60 now is my guess. My car is paid and waiting on new type r in a few years. The 10 speed accord after break in is sub 5 seconds stock lol based off c and d. I owned a stage 2 wrx and also the new tundra. My accord is still the best all around car I’ve owned. Sad there’s no more manual also.
The looks of the R only offend people who are cluless about aero so dont feel bad. Some people buy boring slower cars that blend in with the masses lol The R is made for drivers which is why they sell over sticker and the Accords are discounted.

Excellent and fascinating as always! It's amazing how quick the Honda 10AT is, and imagine it even faster and tuned in the Type-S. But also consider the following: This race with the Type-R, maybe get a tuned 10AT Accord if you can. But up against the K5 GT and Sonata N line as well!

On a freeway no - from a stoplight, meh - the Rs boost is limited in 1st and 2nd and its a notoriously hard car to launch giving the full send 10spd a nice handicapped R to take advantage of ....once in 3rd tho the R walks the Accord easily - the R makes 290whp on full boost stock - 380ish whp with e30 tune - murder an Accord - Accord turbo sized for more low end torque - R turbo sized for top end pull ....this is why these dig races look so close....thats where the Accord is tuned for 0 -50mph city driving while the R is tuned for 60-174mph open track driving. Both 2L motors
Honda limits the boost in 1st and 2nd on the R because the fuel pump cant keep up with full boost in those gears - once full boost and traction combine in 3rd - the Accords will get smaller and smaller in the rearview the faster you go Sweet spot for a stock R is a 60 roll in 3rd.....full boost and traction = max acceleration

Looks like if that civic was like almost every other civic I've seen with 250# of speakers and amplifiers in the trunk, it would have been perfectly matched.
Honestly tho, the early 2000's V6-6 speed Accord was fast as you could possibly need on public roads. I had to watch my speed in that car because it went stupid fast and was so smooth and quiet, it was hard to keep it under 100 on the highway

I test drove the manual and the auto 2.0L Accord and even though I am an advocate for sale the manuals the auto is better suited to that engine.

10 gears vs 6 will always be better, car can stay in its best rpm range a lot longer. To bad they don't make more trans with more gears for small vehicles

Had a 2018 6speed and it would just roast the tires if you got on it. Traded it in for a family vehicle in 2019. All of these videos showing the difference with the 10 speed AT have me wanting to take a test drive…

Certainly an interesting drag race, but I'd take the Type R 10 out of 10 times for a fun, driver-focused, with one of the best manuals out there, and a shockingly good EPAS system. Then again, I've always enjoyed twisty back roads over straight lines ;)

I own a 2018 2.0t 6 speed. Very rare to find and Inlove the car. Just changed to eagle exhilerates and I think the main issue here is no traction. I used to peel 1-4th gear and I’m stock. I still think the 10 speed might be a little faster but much closer now. I can’t burn the tires in 2-4th now. The car is probably 0.5 seconds quicker to 60 now is my guess. My car is paid and waiting on new type r in a few years. The 10 speed accord after break in is sub 5 seconds stock lol based off c and d. I owned a stage 2 wrx and also the new tundra. My accord is still the best all around car I’ve owned. Sad there’s no more manual also.

Excellent and fascinating as always! It's amazing how quick the Honda 10AT is, and imagine it even faster and tuned in the Type-S.
But also consider the following:
This race with the Type-R, maybe get a tuned 10AT Accord if you can.
But up against the K5 GT and Sonata N line as well!
That Honda 10AT would pair well with the CTR engine for the Type S compact sedan that's replacing the ILX.
It really would! And should be able to easily handle extra power from the 2.0T
But I thought even the new mystery compact Type-S was getting the 3.0T? Which either engine regardless is an exciting prospect.
Something about those 10 speed Accords just blasts off the line, but I can also understand launching a manual isn’t the easiest thing to do and takes practice. Great video as always 👍🏼

On a freeway no - from a stoplight, meh - the Rs boost is limited in 1st and 2nd and its a notoriously hard car to launch giving the full send 10spd a nice handicapped R to take advantage of ....once in 3rd tho the R walks the Accord easily - the R makes 290whp on full boost stock - 380ish whp with e30 tune - murder an Accord - Accord turbo sized for more low end torque - R turbo sized for top end pull ....this is why these dig races look so close....thats where the Accord is tuned for 0 -50mph city driving while the R is tuned for 60-174mph open track driving. Both 2L motors
If you're ever in Texas I'd love you to run my Accord 2.0 with a CTR turbo. FBO, E30, 10AT also :)

R owner here, besides the handling what’s so impressive about the R is the top end, it pulls harder in 4th gear than in 2nd/3rd gear
Honda limits the boost in 1st and 2nd on the R because the fuel pump cant keep up with full boost in those gears - once full boost and traction combine in 3rd - the Accords will get smaller and smaller in the rearview the faster you go
Sweet spot for a stock R is a 60 roll in 3rd.....full boost and traction = max acceleration
Who the hell is driving the accord? huge driver error.
