Back in the day I always use to catch this and use to argue with Psypokes Admins who insisted that a level 9 Pidgeotto didn't exist. Still to this day the Pokemon yellow walkthrough on the website doesn't have it listed.
Fighting moves against Pidgeotto say they're super effective because the game only checks the first of the target's 2 types when calling the effectiveness text. It's still only 1x effective because the 2x for Normal and .5x for Flying cancel each other out.

This means that Kanto appears as a location you can visit in more gens than as a location you can't visit. Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 7 all feature Kanto in some capacity. Gen 5, 6, and 8 do not include a version of Kanto. (Unless GameFreak throws decides to throw Let's Go Johto into Gen 8)
In the future you can save yourself time by using more effective switch training e.g. when you were switch training charmander instead of KOing Pokémon with pigeot you can use Pokémon yet to evolve like oddish

I’m really thankful for these videos 😮💨 I’m working on a living dex challenge with all the Pokémon being from the generation they’re come from originally. These videos make it so much easier to be able to just see exactly what’s available where I am at in the game so I don’t spend too much time in routes searching for Pokémon I don’t need.
Yellow and Crystal definitely have some of the best sprites for sure, though I can't help but be biased toward the animated sprites of Gen 5 since that was the apex of the 2D art style for Pokemon.
Actually, in the U.S. versions of the games, there were more in-game trades for Pokémon that evolve via trading: Sun and Moon: Haunter for Alolan Graveler (-> Alolan Golem) Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon: Phantump for Phantump (-> Trevenant)
He gives you a different trade evolution in USUM I think. He also takes the piss out of fucking Mindy when you talk to him after trading if I'm not mistaken.

I think it would be interesting if you did a catch em all series a bit like what jrose started a year or two ago but never complete. like a series of catching them all in ultra sun and ultra moon every episode you catch as many Pokemon as you can before a trial and then over the course of the series you evolve all the Pokemon and by the time you finish the series you will have an almost complete living dex for ultra sun and ultra moon note (edit): don't do this like a professor oak challenge, do it like you're catching them all during your playthrough

Gen I doesn't properly display type effectiveness against dual-type Pokémon, but it does do the proper damage. So while it said the Fighting moves were super effective against Pidgeotto, they were really doing neutral damage.
In B2W2 you can trade an Emolga for a Gigalith, it's kind of an Easter egg as you need to trade a Boldore for an Emolga in BW with the same person. That and Steelix in Gen 2 and 4 are the only trade evolution Pokémon you can get from In-Game trades

I’m guessing that part of what makes it so tedious is how incredibly broad the Safari Zone is, and how the items mechanic works. Since you get the National Dex before the 9th badge, you basically have to take at least a month in real time to get all the items you need to get the highest encounters like Bagon and Beldum (They all require around 120 value, which is about 24 items, which you can only obtain every 6 hours, so one of those alone takes 6 days). That’s mostly what would take long.
In blur japanese version, its an in game trade, u trade a machoke for a haunter and u will get gengar and another that u can trade a kadabra for a graveler u can get golem at the end. In ultra sun and ultra moon u can trade a phantump for a phantump u can get his evolution and in pokemon sun and moon u can trade a haunter for an alolan graveler u get alolan golem at the end
I had a feeling there was one in the Japanese version, just wasn't sure about the English version. I remember these being programmed in the English version by accident, since there was a line in Cinnabar saying "The Raichu you traded me went and evolved!" and it should've been one of those trades.
See I had an easy time with Charmander since I trained it north of Cerulean City with loads of Oddish, Bellsprout and Venonat. Until it could easily handle Diglett's Cave of course. As for other in game trade evolutions (I can remember if it was Sun/Moon or UltraSun/UltraMoon but there is an in game trade for Phantump which evolves into Trevenant via evolution.
