Oww, makes my knees hurt just watching you crawl over the hard rock! That hyperbar rack is pretty neat. My old rack had a titanium top bar with a guide groove machined into it. Walter Mayerchik made several for our group, wish I knew where he got off to.

My family originally settled in the Ball Play, AL area. One of the men had an outpost near Turkey Town. For the indians to be in that area, there had to be caves and other natural structures. If I was to go into that cave, I would be checking out the types of rocks.

Wouldn't it be a lot safer to anchor the ropes to two trees instead of one in case the soil gets loose and a tree gets uprooted?

Yeah that doesn't happen with ropes and we also choose trees that are alive. It's perfectly safe to rig to one tree and use the proper knots.

@@tag_caver Okay you know about this a lot more than I do but where I live in Washington State healthy living evergreen trees fall over on their own quite often.

@@Shadowman-1960 yea that is not really an issue here with caving. In my 21 years of caving I have only heard of one person choosing the wrong tree and having issues with it falling while they were on rope.
