I work at a dealership in the pdi department and I just pull them off with a fishing string and then a 3m eraser wheel and use alcohol wipe then put new ones on all the time
I added the black GMC letters to be installed on my truck at delivery and the dealership did a crap job so there's a lot of micro scratches on the paint in the middle of the letters, any recommendations for how to polish that?
I am going to use this method to remove the chrome lettering of my Colorado pickup, then replace with blacked out letters, matte finish. I think my ride will look MUCH BETTER afterwards 😎👍
There are adhesive removers that will do it easily and won't harm the paint. Rapic-Tac makes a great one. Be careful with the heat gun also. Better to use it at more of a distance, not right on top of the letter so you heat up more area of the metal. You can burn the paint or make the metal expand too much and crack the paint. Wear gloves too.
This method only works because your truck is literally brand new and the adhesive hasn't had time to really sit deep into the truck. If that truck was 4 years old or older this method would never work.
If you use the 3m eraser wheel. It's easy to remove the residue. Doesn't damage anything. I've done it to all my vehicles.
Then a paint correction is needed

Not entirely true you can burn the paint if your not careful

I have a black one similar to this and was literally thinking about just waiting until it sits out on a 90⁰ pittsburgh day

Looks like it’s starting to rain?

Use dental floss behind the letters after heating up. No chance of damaging it.
Alot easier with someone heating adhesive BEHIND it while you pull
That's such a better way
He is WAY too close with that gun. Know that paint will bubble if too hot. Hes a pro
Com'on guys , are the red emblems that ugly and worth the trouble to replace? Most people will never notice lol
