Acetic Acid + Water = ??? (acetate and hydronium ions)

  • When acetic acid, CH3COOH, which is a weak acid, is mixed with water, SOME of the H's come off of the COOH group of the molecule. They are given to nearby water molecules, and so two new ions are produced: CH3COO-, which is known as acetate, and H3O+, which is a water molecule with an extra H, and is known as the hydronium ion.
There is an equilibrium between all of these substances.

What's the easiest way to convert acetic acid in vinegar to the SCFA acetate?

Why does the acetic acid donate the hydrogen and why does the water receive it? They both seem "happy" without the process so why does it happen at all?

We have a measure for their “happiness” in this situation … it is called Ka
Higher Ka = more willing to lose the H
      Acetic acid is 1.8x10^-5
Water is 1.0x10^-7 (smaller, less willing to give away H)
Which is why we say it goes from acetic acid to Water

if you use acetic acid+ h20 (contamination) making your acetic acid become negative. Can freidel crafts reaction still take place?

Can acetic acid be used to lower PH in a pool?

    Please Balance it
    CH3-CH2-OH = cH3OOH+H2O
    With K2Cr2O7 & H2so4 ions

    Question, does this show....
Acetic acid + water = acetate, which then is converted to Acetyl-CoA?
I'm trying to find the optimal pathway to Acetyl-CoA, which I assume starts with acetic acid (Apple cider vinegar).
So, how to I get from acetic acid to Acetyl-CoA?

I regret to tell you I have no idea what Acetyl-CoA is

    • @warkmard-dw4dw
      @warkmard-dw4dw 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Acetyl-COA-A is a part.of the Krebs energy cycle. It's essential to produce mental energy. Upon further research I've found BHB (Beta-hydroxybutyrate) is converted to Acetyl-COA
"Neurons take up BHB by MCT2, converting it to acetyl-CoA. As a result, BHB may serve as an alternative energy substrate in hypoglycaemic conditions"

    Acetic acid H2o2 in water
    What happened
If above diluted solution will storage in plastic or polymer
