If there is something I miss, it is Kenyan pilau sukuma and fresh meat. Watching your videos makes me want to come back to Kenya for a visit
Am happy you liked our Kenyan food dear😊
In Kenyan restaurants if you use spices alot, many people won't come.. even just tomato paste people say it causes acidity so they prefer fresh tomatoes
Wow....thanks for the info 👍
The same applies to oil. We don't use a lot of it.
I still enjoy my Togolese/Ghanaian food minus the okra
Also when in Kenya spicy doesn't necessarily mean Hot. Kenyans can use variety of whole spices and herbs like garlic, ginger, cardamom, rosemary, coriander etc. Like Pilau rice has a lot of spices. Pilau is very spicy but not hot. But when Nigerians say spicy they mean chilli hot if am not wrong
When you visit nyanza region u will find that ugali of maize flour mixed with cassava flour and sorghum flour
Wow....that's great
I can see why Morris needs to stop teaching you. Pilau comes from the coast of East Africa due to indian and arabic influence. As for pepe, not many kenyans cook with it. Especially in hotels and restaurants where they make big portions of food. What you can do is request for it to be cooked in your portion. Each house hold makes their food differently. Personally I loooove pepe. I always treat myself with some Nigerian/Ghanian food from Mama Ashanti in lavington. I love your videos! Keep it up.
Thanks for the info😊
I also love pepper and my family had to adjust their taste buds 😅
🤣🤣🤣
You're like me. I absolutely love pepe. Since childhood. And I've eaten from Mama Ashanti countless times
Kibandaski foods are always top notch, very fresh and tastier
Yes💯
You are doing great Princess Sarah bee. I love your interest in learning the culture.
Thank you! 😃
Pay a visit to Western kenya or nyanza , their I
U'll find ugali made of casava wheat flour sorghum etc
Thanks princess for appreciating our Kenyan food. My favourite is ugali/sukuma. Different tribes in kenya have their staple food. Western brothers we call them shemeji, they love ugali/ omena or fish. The pilau is mostly coast region food. But you can eat ugali for a whole year with different accompaniments and not get bored.
You can also try the famous kamba muthokoi and kikuyu mukimo with fermented uji(porridge)
Wow....thanks for the detailed explanation 👍
Wow....thanks for the detailed explanation 👍
Christmas came early for you!
Yummy! U got everything right. That's of course SOME of the Kenyan foods. Notice the fresh ingredients?
Others have presented Kenyan foods, but this is tops, indepth. Please don't compare...
When u go to Mombasa, try authentic pilau (pilaf)...
That Chef is goood! And clean. And the food must be yummy... Should aim to grow bigger. Those talents are underemployed.
Do.not.swallow.ugali😂😂
i watched it to the end.. so much information about kenya food... my best Kenya food is Chapati, Matumbo and so on
Wow....thanks for watching Ay👍
Just remain in kenya,we adopt you..ur kiswahili is giving😂😂❤
Sukuma is more acidic than bitter. If you want bitter, look for indigenous managu.
Thanks for the tips 👍
Sarah bee, the way you roll Ugali lump in your palm is very reminiscent of Western Kenya. They do it exactly like you have done. Also in Western Kenya, Ugali is made of a mixture of Maize, Sorghum and Casaava flours.
Wow...so much similarities 😄
Maize flour, sorghum, cassava and small cement so that it holds the stomach.

Hi Princess. You've made me salivate (invite me next time). Ugali served with Omena is my favorite. I would also say it's part of my community's staple, given that I come from the lake region (even though I live in Nairobi) where ugali with fish is a common dish.
You make great video happy to see you enjoyed kenya
Asante Sana 🙏
Did you see the one she was eating sugar cane wee this girl is some else yaani she was chewing that sugarcane with passion even speaking to it.
Search the old song called,Am going back to Kenya.....

Hello, my sister... The the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of the father and The fellowship of the Holy Spirit be your portion...

The way you compress that ugali 😂😂😂😂 you deserve to be called a heroe
🤣🤣🤣I suffocated the life out of the Ugali
You didn't try the Merus food Mukimo. Kwanza you do it with some matumbo thank me later 😊
And food ya watu wa mulima matoke
It's interesting that you liked the omena, most kenyans would prefer the greens, egg and beef
Who are most, i prefer omena
Me too I feel omena Is bitter
@@williamwatitwa3534 si kila mtu anapenda omena kama wewe. 3 out of 10 kenyans love it
Very true
Bitter omena was not fried in oil first
The best way to try that is on different times “days"
Oga morris me am salivating while watching 😂😂😂
😂😂😂Sorry
I enjoyed watching this video so much and enjoy our food
Glad you enjoyed it
Omena is a Luo word but we use it mostly. in swahili it's called dagaa but just use omena in kenya if you go to tanzania then use dagaa they don't know omena😊
Dagaa ni kiswahili?
@@missmollyn_lifestyle yes
My mum used to mix omena with githeri (maize, beans, waru), very yummy.
@@jsam477😂😂😂😂😂are you for real si mulikua Muna nyamba
Thanks for the info 👍
Sukuma wiki or kale becomes bitter as they age, while their younger leaves are more tender and flavorful.
Me I always eat Nigeria food in Switzerland I can even cook obono egusi I started eating pepper in Europe you need to cook for moris Nigeria food it’s the best
Wow....you've been Nigerianized😂😂😂
Kuja kakamega siku moja😊
Even Bungoma
Sarahbee, send me some matubu - 🇬🇧, i am hungry.
That is the foood we all eat. Matumbu and omena, the best
🤣Okay.... very delicious 😋
When some visitors enter Kenya, they will have to modify the cooking to suit their taste. How many West Africans, especially the Yoruba and Ghanians would cope eating Kenyan food without pepper? Why don't they mix the vegetable with the sauce to get soup like it's done in Nigeria? Do they use curry, thyme, seasoning cube, etc to cook?
Most Kenyans don't like pepper that's why they rarely use it,so in order to keep everyone happy especially visitors, when you request for it,you'll be given.
For spices, I can only say for this particular restaurant....she used royco and salt mostly.
Health reasons is the reason why most Kenyans don't use a lot of spices and pepper. Stomach ulcers is common here, if you cook spicy foods, you are likely to worsen some people's illnesses. Better be safe. But you can find spices here. Personally, I cook 2 sets of foods if I am hosting to cater for those who don't eat spices.
Hahahaha it's like asking Nigerians to modify their dishes to accommodate for Kenyan visitors or other foreigners. While in Rome do as the Romans do and enjoy the diversity in cultures.
I find it weird some Nigerians feel like when they leave their country, they expect to see their culture and ways of life in other countries. I thought the purpose of traveling was to get to experience a new culture of the people living in that particular area and not imposing your cultural norms and beliefs on people you are not related to. If you feel you cannot accept that we are not the same and we differ culturally, it is best to stick to your country. Don't go around making a fool of yourself trying to find Nigeria outside Nigeria. You visit someone, you eat what they serve you and not try to criticize how your host cooks their food. Having an open mindset will take you far.
Not everything Yoruba and Igbo 😅
Everybody has different methods of preparation....for some we wash the rice....for some we like pilipili...it all depends on the chef
Well said....thanks for watching 👍
I must find somebody to tell ' sorry is your case '😂
😂😂😂
Some meals are pepared better by the people in which culturally that type of meal is the main...like if you would love to enjoy pilau get to Swahili community in kenyan coast. Ugali and omena, fish the luo people are best, nowander you enjoying the omenas coz they are prepared by an expert in that
i love this girl, come and visit while in Kenya.
You are doing a great job 💪
Princess, i am happy you love omena. Next time you come back to Kenya , please visit Kisumu city on the shores of Lake Victoria in Western Kenya to enjoy more omena . Cheap.
Come back again Princess.

That man is a liar am from western Kenya bt rice or pilau isn't a taboo just that they believe it cant hold a stomach,, instead use it for lunch hour then something strong in the evening
Lol....don't mind him,he was just joking
Ugali,omena has always won🎉🎉🎉
🏆 🏆🏆
I love kibanda food ❤
Upnext .......street food ...mutura vs smocha!
Ugali should not be bitter unless the maize was not good.Am impressed about swallow😢.I we swallow herebwe will be choked😅Sometimes it can hard.Soft one is advisable especially for those swallowing.
It's the sukuma that was a little bit bitter😊I really enjoyed the Ugali
Sukukuma is always bitter when it is summer in Kenya or if te whether is changed that Hy it comes bitter 😊 and u have to know their two different of sukukuma wiki
This was enjoyable to watch. But Morris is not factual. Pilau is very much a Kenyan dish but its found throughout East Africa you can think of it as the East African version of Jollof rice. Also to note is that Kenyans dont mix proteins in their stews for instance you cant mix beef with chicken or fish ir eggs. Everything stew is cooked separately. Thanks for the video please also teach us how to cook fufu and pounded yam
Yeah I noticed😊thanks for tuning in 👍
I always take my meals here
That's great....a friend recommended that place
Mathmatiss
Koloo(colour)😂😂😂😂 i love Nigerian accent

She said kakulashon.... And the government is still silent 😂😂😂😂... Thats an offence 😂😂😂😂😂

Sarabeeh sambaza hiyo pilau huku...
Walai😂😂😂nameza mate
Swahili food is properly prepared in Mombasa city.Nairobi is a scam😅
bitter leaves ask for mtoo
They didn't wash the rice, wash at least once, not to remove the pearlness of the rice but make it clean
Oh okay....thanks 👍
Tha ascent makes the video more juicier🥰
Where is the kachumbari for eating pilau,??
I think she didn't prepare it🤔
Nigerian can't eat food without pepe 😂😂😂. I didn't know that. I guess they are used to hot spicy flavors. I can eat food without or with hot spicy ness. I can eat bland foods too with little to no flavor with salt only. I get used to the food as I eat it. It is the mindset and how you relate to the taste of the food. I'm more focused on skipping oils, we really need to use only flavorings & spices to the food.
PRINCE ILL FOLLOW YOU EVEN IN NINGERIA EVEN THOUGH YOU RUN AWAY FROM US IN KENYA.HOW MUCH IS THAT FOOD IN NIGERIA HERE IN KENYA ITS ABOUT 2K
Thanks for the support😊everything was 500ksh which is almost 4,000naira
