Went to school for 3 years near that park in Louisiana...had to make a stop in my last week just to say I went there. 4 of the holes were completely underwater and there were homeless people scattered throughout the entire park. The grass was insanely long and I've never been more sketched out being on a disc golf course. Other than that, great layout!
LOVE that you guys are putting this pod onto it's own channel! Not stirring here, but Tour Life is orders of magnitude better than that other Foundation podcast and I like that I won't need to subscribe to both in order to catch Tour Life.
In response to the Edwin Stats, a better stat to look at than birdie rate is score variation. A hole with a 60% birdie rate that also generates a lot of over par stokes is still a good hole.
LOL I used to give terrible reviews of Dash's Track to have it all to myself. We had free reign over Dash's for about 5 years. We were the only ones maintaining it for the longest time. We built and added benches, the 19th whole picnic table, the 9th hole table that was stolen and we created the split fairway for hole #4. We never saw anyone on that course for years. Then Brodie ruined it for us. J/k we were happy to see people enjoying our hard work finally.
Just to touch on what Uli said about Cliff Drive in kc. There has been CRAZY stuff, including bodies and a butchered horse. However, the craziest thing ever at a disc tourney also happened there during a quite large event. A guy was shot during the event by some very random guy. Helicopters flew over quickly and found the shooter.
dude really said “we’re not in the middle of nowhere” and then said they were over an hour away from wichita and kansas city he described exactly what people mean when they say “middle of nowhere”
As an AM and disc golf content creator, I loved going to Emporia every year for disc golf. Definitely a destination city for disc golf. Also the vibe around the community is incredible. They are so welcoming and everyone know about and enjoy disc golf. A feel you don’t really get anywhere else. It’s ingrained in Emporia’s DNA and identity. My only complaint recently is no longer having AM and Pro the same weekend last year. It was great for AM’s to meet the pros and also spectate. 2023 was the first time I didn’t go to GBO/DDO (besides COVID) since 2015. Didn’t hear if pro/Am is same weekend this year, but if it is, I might have to make the trip down again!!!
I'm probably the oddball here, but I've played in Emporia and I've played Eagles Crossing. Friends and I do a big disc golf trip every year from Michigan to somewhere else, and St. Louis/Eagles Crossing was our destination last year. Great course, lovely lovely people that run it. But yeah, it's a hike. Not so far off I-70, but it's 90 minutes from STL. And also, it's expensive! That round was nearly $40/person. I think if some more pros went and did vlogs playing Eagles Crossing, it'd get some more traction for sure. The Big Money Skins should have done it, but it was such a debacle. As for Emporia, I do agree that my husband and I felt welcomed. Cute enough little town. Didn't get to play the Country Club, but we did play Jones Supreme. Too far to be a destination from Michigan, and Jones... Supreme was cool to experience, but I'm not sad that layout's gone. If Jeremy can make the Country Club more of a destination, I see some potential there, as, well, you can find Emporia on a map, unlike Hawk's Point or whatever the little village near Eagles Crossing is called.
is the platform for the stats kept for the PGA tour available and used for members of the USGA? Do ball golfers in general use the same app/software/whatever?
I have played tournament already and this did suck it was raining and was hard to keep screen to act right when when water driving on it was pretty bad rain but still terrible experience.
I do think the new scoring rule states that you can use paper score cards, that the TD actually has to provide them for each round. I may be remembering wrong though, I need to go back over them before this next weekend.
Shoutout to Edwin coming in hot again with great stats. But also, shoutout to Brodie (& Uli?) for making the decision to reinvest in the podcast and bring Edwin on in the first place (in addition to the other new staff). Between Edwin's stats and the wild stories (both of which your staff help you do), you guys are increasing the quality and uniqueness of your podcast compared to the others, and it does not go unnoticed.
You guys "forgot" about the Raptor. IMO that is the worst infringement so far. Talk about completely ripping off a logotype and paste it on products actually sold.
Uli hinted at it: Conner needs to throw everything on hyzer/ same shot shape. Dude was throwing every angle and shape, throwing backhand and forehands, which just caused a lot of errant shots.
The full potential of the ECC is so untapped. The disc golf destination approach is the way to go. At a minimum, I would build out rooms for overnight stays/airbnb and overnight camps with pros. Tons of revenue potential beyond tournaments. Build a high ceiling common room that holds 300 people...a gathering space for tourneys, but also seconds as a wedding venue with overnight stays for the whole wedding party (a cash cow). DG camps & tourneys, pickleball camps & tourneys, weddings...everything with overnight stays on site. So much potential!
Love the timer popup, would be nice with chapters also, love to hear you guys talk about stuff you are passionate about, but as a europian i rather listen to Discgolf than NFL :)
Everyone on the card keeping score is welcome at the amateur level. No push back at all. It is keeping the cheating down for sure. I played a tournament last month and one person messed up the score card at least 8-9 times each round.
Most par 4's are a complete joke ,,your only throwing a putter, midrange into the green everytime ,,thats not a challenge ,,holes need to be lengthened ,where drivers are still needed for the second shots, Pauls -18 at dglo, was made by constantly throwing close, from only 200-250 ft away, not a big challenge in itself
It would be a terrible decision if the PDGA designed an app for casual rounds. Competing directly with an outside company within disc golf would be terrible for growth and investment going forward. DGPT tournaments one thing, my casual round on a local course completely different.
Someone explain to me why I would want to pay $75 or whatever it is to join the PDGA to play in a $65 C - Tier tourney in the AM division where if I win I don't get money back. Instead I get a towel and some lame disc I'll never throw?
If you are not a PDGA member and you want to play in a tournament, you have to pay $10 more than members to play. So if you play 5 or more tournaments, you break even or save. Also if you are a member, you get like a 50% discount for the Disc Golf Network. Which that alone is like a $50-$60 savings. So if you only play a couple a year, then maybe it isn’t worth it.
@@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf ah I get what you’re saying. You don’t get any savings by being a PDGA member in my country and I don’t have DGN anyway. Here the PDGA membership is super cheap.
I have already played a few tournaments this year, and everyone keeping everyone’s score was easy and quick. Never huddling up on the teepad! Why would you do that?
As for Kratos, he is a mythological character that’s thousands of years old. Unless that image of Kratos that Ledgestone used was art from that game, it should be just fine. Any image of Kratos is gonna look similar because there’s an agreed description of what Kratos looks like. Obviously they are utilizing the familiarity people have with Kratos from the recent God of War games visually but it’s not like anybody conflates the game character with a disc golf product.
another thing that FPO has that MPO doesnt, a lot of these ladies are very attractive. Lets just be real. There are times when i specifically will watch a round on whichever platform just based on the attractiveness of the card. Lets go ladies!

The dg podcasts Foundation/tour life, banter and gossip. A few interesting guests The upshot, intelligent and interesting analyses of the dg world. Staggered stance, if you want a headache
4 people keeping score is absolutely stupid. that said, it doesn't work too bad...but it's overkill that doesn't need to be done. Totally unnecessary. There are much more causes for backups and waiting than scorekeeping.

Udisc went downhill, they focused more on DEI garbage than their product. I canceled my subscription over a year ago. At some point they went astray from their original mission and it's costing them. Boo hoo.
I stopped paying for usisc. Crazy to charge so much, but I only play once a month or so. It'll be sad to lose all my 6 years of history but not worth paying just for that.

Curios on the Edwin Stats how Eagles on the Par 4 & 5’s were factored into the Birdie percentages
They are treated just like a birdie.. even an ace.. anything better than par counts as a 'birdie' for the sake of 'birdie rate'
