Mid 2020 I kept seeing a thumbnail for Lovebites show as a recommend. Finally clicked out of boredom....Was Instantly captured by them, You could say I'm ADDICTED!
The one thing that makes Lovebites stand out from almost all the other Japanese metal bands is the fact that they sing in 100% English. That, and they have two of the best guitar players you could ask for.
Yup. They definitely fit mostly into power metal, but they have a pretty good range. Break the wall, set the world on fire, and Thunder Vengeance are all more thrashy (especially break the wall). All are great and with checking out. Great band.

Another fan of Lovebites in the making. Now you see why they won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. Someday their two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, will be considered among the greatest guitar duos ever. You have just scratched the surface of their amazing talent. Lovebites toured with DragonForce in 2019 and have been strongly influenced by them, and yet, for me, their music is much better and more appealing. Where do you think she got that idea from? Also, have you noticed that all the songs on Glory, Glory to the World EP (except for WoT), Nameless Warrior, and their audition track are more similar to something DragonForce would play than anything they wrote before that? How many interviews have you seen of them from 2020 to the present? I think Midori was influenced by them for sure.

You have no idea what you have stepped into. This is just a taste, just a little taste. Their talent is off the charts and their two lead guitarists, Midori and Miyako, are arguable the best guitar duo in the world. One of them is a world class classical concert pianist who shreds the piano and keyboards during some of their songs. Buckle your seat belt.
Kids. Always comparing Lovebites to Dragonforce. See... when I first seen this, it instantly reminded me of something off of Helloween "Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 2". I saw Haruna for the first time, and said to myself: "Who is that super cute chick on the drums, and why is she playing like Ingo Schwichtenberg?!?!?!" LoL!

the lovebites rabbit hole is deep and rewarding. not only are they obviously fantastic musicians. also are they amazing composers, especially "cool face" miyako. in their backcatalogue of around 50 songs is no bad or even mediocre one. check also "nemophila". they´ll blow your mind too.
Phenomenal band. Listen to Break the Wall if you want Slayer-esque thrash. Watch the music video for Winds of Transylvania if you want more Dragonforce. Of all the Japanese female metal bands I easily put Lovebites on the top of the list.
You never know about these bands because U.S.corporate radio doesn't play them. Just like Band-Maid, Baby Metal, Nemophilia (Japan), Nightwish, Epica, Therion, Heilung (Northern Europe), etc. And I won't even get into Indian metal bands and others. Thank the music gods for TH-cam.
Our culture is dying. Japan makes it easy for children with education and opportunity. Japan may be considered the West but they hang on to enough of their culture where they aren't fully diseased with the ideologues dominating and cursing the West. Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. Beacuse four of the members are under 5ft. and the tallest is 5ft 2ins they wear white so they stand out on stage. Choose any Lovebites track to react to, you can't go wrong. Yes, there has been an all-female metal scene in Japan since about 2005, it took off in 2011 with Aldious’ album Deep Exceed and has been morphing ever since - Band-Maid are an off shoot of this. You can’t really go wrong with LOVEBITES, New bands in the last couple of years that are of note would be Nemophila and Hanabie, many of the older bands are still making music or taking a break due to COVID messing up plans. It’s a big subject, a massive rabbit hole and the quality and fun are unsurpassed.

Another fan of Lovebites in the making. Now you see why they won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. Someday their two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, will be considered among the greatest guitar duos ever. You have just scratched the surface of their amazing talent. Lovebites toured with DragonForce in 2019 and have been strongly influenced by them, and yet, for me, their music is much better and more appealing. You see Lovebites doesn't only play power metal, they also do thrash metal like Slayer and progressive metal like Dream Theater, along with traditional heavy metal like Maiden or Priest. @@salsaucedo Whether they said it or not doesn't matter. They toured with them for a month or more. Ever since that tour Midori started using Herman Li's technique of sliding the pick on the strings. Where do you think she got that idea from? Also, have you noticed that all the songs on Glory, Glory to the World EP (except for WoT), Nameless Warrior, and their audition track are more similar to something DragonForce would play than anything they wrote before that? How many interviews have you seen of them from 2020 to the present? I think Midori was influenced by them for sure.
Wellcome bro to the world of awesome metal of Lovebites. These talented musicians, nasty but gorgeous ladies keep shocking us. Duo guitarist take turn to shredd and then harmonised in some songs, power vocalist, bassist and drummer beat in fast pace almost 2 hours of show, make even crazy.. huh. They call themselves the Lone Wolves of Metal (hence the fanbase name of Wolfpack) because they eschew the stereotypes of metal (they also wear white to standout on stage as they are all petite).

You have no idea what you have stepped into. This is just a taste, just a little taste. Their talent is off the charts and their two lead guitarists, Midori and Miyako, are arguable the best guitar duo in the world. One of them is a world class classical concert pianist who shreds the piano and keyboards during some of their songs. Buckle your seat belt.

Your quest for talent is over. There is nobody better than these ladies. This standard, no deviation, no weaknesses, no album fillers. Best band in existence.
the lovebites rabbit hole is deep and rewarding. not only are they obviously fantastic musicians. also are they amazing composers, especially "cool face" miyako. in their backcatalogue of around 50 songs is no bad or even mediocre one. check also "nemophila". they´ll blow your mind too.
Phenomenal band. Listen to Break the Wall if you want Slayer-esque thrash. Watch the music video for Winds of Transylvania if you want more Dragonforce. Of all the Japanese female metal bands I easily put Lovebites on the top of the list.
You never know about these bands because U.S.corporate radio doesn't play them. Just like Band-Maid, Baby Metal, Nemophilia (Japan), Nightwish, Epica, Therion, Heilung (Northern Europe), etc. And I won't even get into Indian metal bands and others. Thank the music gods for TH-cam.
Our culture is dying. Japan makes it easy for children with education and opportunity. Japan may be considered the West but they hang on to enough of their culture where they aren't fully diseased with the ideologues dominating and cursing the West. Lovebites is amazing, too bad their early rise was in the covid years or I think they would have more opportunities for awareness faster.

Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics.
They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.
This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. Members of LOvebites said that just because they play metl they did no see why they should give up their feminity. Beacuse four of the members are under 5ft. and the tallest is 5ft 2ins they wear white so they stand out on stage. Choose any Lovebites track to react to, you can't go wrong. Yes, there has been an all-female metal scene in Japan since about 2005, it took off in 2011 with Aldious’ album Deep Exceed and has been morphing ever since - Band-Maid are an off shoot of this. You can’t really go wrong with LOVEBITES, New bands in the last couple of years that are of note would be Nemophila and Hanabie, many of the older bands are still making music or taking a break due to COVID messing up plans. It’s a big subject, a massive rabbit hole and the quality and fun are unsurpassed.
