“Veronica was, self-centered, grandiose, arrogant, condescending, impulsive, irresponsible, cold, callous, vindictive, petty, manipulative, deceptive, cynical, sensation seeking, materialistic, hedonistic, insensitive, opportunistic, shallow, greedy, and sadistic” I believe we just witnessed Dr. Grande “going off” 😂👍🏻
And in this case, I really see no way in which it could have been prevented - no early warning signs disregarded, no safety mechanism neglected - it happened more or less out of the blue. Truly horrible. I hope she has nightmares of her daughters every single night!
True! I feel it’s not good for us… what if it was your family member, would you like $$$k people watching for entertainment and money being made off of it?
Just imagining all that Sharon had been thru, before her mom met her step dad… and then to finally find stability, a father figure and a little sister, just wow. This poor girl.
Boy. He really put up with a LOT of bull. Way too much. Veronica was unquestionably deeply damaged but there’s no excuse for killing children, especially your own. What a mess!
Honestly I lowkey also hold him accountable for not protecting his children. She’s CLEARLY unstable and it seems he was more interested in having a “hot” wife than care about how she would be as a parent. I saw this a lot when I worked at a high end daycare. These men will procreate with women for their looks and they don’t care at ALL about how they parent their children. It’s all about their ego and having arm candy 🤦🏽♀️
@@berkslaw Psychopathy in women is different than men. Men will generally target their victims directly with overt aggression. Psychopathic women are more likely to attack you indirectly. Notice how Veronica bought the Glock pistol & rather than just use it against Ron directly, that she made very clear that she hated, she instead used relational aggression by harming their daughters to get at him. Psychopathic women have little to no empathy or remorse, that's why she could commit those horrific acts & still claim that she is a good mother. Female psychopaths are also masters at playing the victim card. Veronica accused her husband of abuse & financially neglecting her & their daughters but it was always proven with evidence that he was never guilty of either to those things.
This happened right across the street from me. It was a horrible day, and i will never forget it. Poor girls. They deserved so much better. The cops snagged her in record time.
Hi! Someone with actual C-PTSD here. My diagnosis came from the fact that unlike with PTSD, my trauma is repeated and drawn out, mine being for over a decade. While it is classified as the more "intense" form of PTSD, it will never justify someone commiting murder, and for someone to try and say so is not only idiotic but harmful.
Thank you! I also have been formally diagnosed with C-PTSD. I appreciate you expressing that the condition is real and we’re not being dramatic. We don’t have PTSD, but that takes nothing away from the trauma endured by people who do. It’s just more complicated - I liken it to a tangled ball of string. You can only pull on an end (and deal with the emotions) for a short time before you run into a knot. Then you have to deal with that (or add it to an ever growing list). And you are 100% right - nothing justifies murdering your children. I wish you well on your journey of recovery.
I just commented the same as I know it's a new definition, but it has valid diagnostics that help therapists know how to treat you. It's not about a misery Olympics but having multiple sources of trauma across an extended timeframe, sometimes with multiple people, is going to have a different treatment plan than one incident in a lifetime. Both can result in PTSD (also acute and chronic), but they're different diagnostics. And neither should be used to justify murder. This mom just sucks.
@@lauren9667 Agree. Just like doctors use different distinctions to treat you, therapists do as well. It's a bit silly as someone with say pneumonia wouldn't call someone with double pneumonia dramatic. 😂 It's literally just treatment criteria to know how to help you. Good luck on your journey. ♥️
@@christinetaylor6110 that episode was brutal. I couldn't watch the whole thing. Oddly enough, the papers and evening news, kept the coverage to a bare minimum. What a pointless person. What was she seeking revenge for? What did her husband even do to her? She was the one who wronged him. Her actions made zero sense.
Yeah, the husband even said he never really understood why she was so angry with him and that she never really explained herself. I can only imagine a part of her hated herself whenever she faced down the fact that she screwed him over so many times. She probably just redirecting her anger, which is complete bulls***. She's a destructive monster with no remorse.
She was obviously mentally ill; that's why her actions appear to make no sense. Impulsive behavior without regard to consequences, including compulsive se%ual misbehavior, can be a symptom of serious mental illness. Not an excuse, but it does explain some of her seemingly incomprehensible actions. Crazy people do crazy things.

@@wmdkitty No. You're wrong. When a parent kills the kids in order to hurt the other parent, it's usually women who do it. My own mother used to threaten to murder me & my sister so that my dad wouldn't get custody of us.
I do not have words to express how sick I am of women being given lenient sentences for murdering their own children. "Compassion" and "empathy" and excuses for these selfish, violent women is not compassion at all. This "compassion" is actually brutality and callousness and indifference to the child victims--utter contempt for their lives and contempt for justice.
That was sooo heartbreaking, I'm a mother and grandmother, cases involving children are specially hard for me. Evil to the core. Always grateful for your analysis, Dr. Grande!
Nasty, spiteful, and selfish woman. She wanted to hurt her husband and she succeeded. It boggles my mind that she used her babies who loved and trusted her in order to do so. Makes me doubt as to whether she actually had any capacity for genuine love. I can’t help but think that the answer to that is no.
So I have been diagnosed with CPTSD from a psychiatrist after my disclosure of severe childhood trauma to my therapist. I was told that complex PTSD is different than PTSD as PTSD is typically a singular event or singular episode such as a plane crash or serving in the military, whereas complex PTSD often comes from childhood abuse, resulting in trauma that has Shaped the child in a way that they don’t know their authentic self because they always had to be on guard for incoming abuse. There may not be a diagnosis in the DSM 5 for CPTSD currently but I’m positive it will only be a matter of time until it is included as its own diagnosis.
Totally agree. We are still learning so much about trauma and the nervous system. Just because it isn’t in the DSM yet doesn’t mean it isn’t legitimate. It’s completely logical to consider that a single traumatic event (a plane crash, for example) is going to affect someone with PTSD differently than someone that, say, has been in 10 plane crashes. Same for an adult that undergoes trauma as an adult vs a child that undergoes trauma as a child. Low level chronic trauma interspersed with high level traumatic events throughout childhood is definitely going to manifest differently in the nervous system than a single serious traumatic event in childhood. There’s so much more to learn so we can help people heal. Sometimes Dr Grande shows that intellectual elitist attitude that he harbors just a little too much of, even though I like the guy a lot, it’s definitely a flaw he has.
@@lostandfound5145 He definitely has his blind spots. There's this funny thing going on where he consistently uses the word "titled" instead of the correct "entitled" (as in "an essay entitled") and pronouncing "laundromat" as "laundry-mat"
Some people are just pure evil and they derive pleasure from hurting others. There is no mental illness or complex explanation for what they do. It's just who they are. She is one of those people.
Ronald was a saint for putting up with her. She sounds awful. He must have really loved her. Poor little children and father 😢 Edit: ugh! I looked the case up. Her oldest daughter called the police after she was shot. Horrifically she knew it was her own mother that was killing her. It didn’t sound super quick “They weren’t the most important thing to me, they were my life. They were all I cared about. She took that from me and I’ll never get them back.” Ronald Youngblood. He stated that he didn’t put it past her to harm him, but never thought she would harm the children.😢
Can't forget even in this story the court would believe the wife's story, but at least this one when the man had overwhelming evidence to the contrary they took the husband's side.
I counted 22 undesirable personality characteristics. Pretty much a full house in toxic personality poker. I don't think Ronald knew what he was dealing with.
I am a new mommy and don’t know how anyone could do this. It is infuriating and heartbreaking! Thank you for your analysis and bringing awareness to these issues involving innocent lives, Dr. G. 💔
i appreciate the tone Dr. Grande has with each of the cases he covers. i had two friends pass away at the hands of their father in 2020, one of the girls had just graduated 8 days before with me. unfortunately i don’t think anyone has picked up the case to review or talk about at all and its been 4 years now. i know Dr. Grande would give my friends the respect and attention they deserve.
I agree with you Dr. Grande - I feel so sad and sorry for the girls, and for Ronald, her husband. When we choose someone as a spouse - it is one of, if not the very most important choices we make in our life. Sadly, it seems in our current culture - people don't seem to take it seriously and many times live to be sorry for that. I pray wherever Ronald is - he finds peace, healing, and true love.
Anyone finding themselves anywhere near a person like Veronica should run for the hills. I loved your list of adjectives, Dr Grande. I couldn't agree more with your assessment of this person

I feel Dr. Grande showered and scrubbed himself at least 3x after posting this video. His disgust for the female shines through- the first case I've ever watched him reacting this way. The absolute evilness of this floors me. Thank you, Dr. Grande.
She's right up there with Chris Watts, Chris Coleman and all the other family annihilators. It's hard to comprehend that level of evil exists and walks among us.
I look forward to these analysis and appreciate your originality in them. I've just viewed the case of Cody's death by his father and now these sisters who were killed by their mother. These crimes against children sicken me no matter how tastefully they are addressed in the media. I sure hope that Hell is even worse than we all imagine for these sick parents.
I have "complex ptsd" and it is very similar symptoms to borderline personality disorder, but you can pinpoint the cause to usually an abusive household. I just have to say that just because someone says they have cptsd doesn't mean they are trying to sound like their ptsd is more traumatic or special. It actually is a lot different than regular ptsd as it shapes your entire personality, view of others, and view of yourself. Just had to chime in. This mom is obviously in the wrong and evil
When I first started my mental health journey after accepting that I was in a DV situation and coming to terms with my DV upbringing I remember Dr Google making me worry that I had BPD, too! I finally got into proper therapy and learned that I had cPTSD and started healing. I’ve never seen anyone say it’s similar to BPD before, but I just wanted to comment that I also had this thought about myself and what I was experiencing.
@lostandfound5145 I was confused about which one I had as well and my therapist told me it doesn't really matter which one you say because they're the same symptoms and to focus on getting better rather than "which one is it" because I obsessed over it for like 6 months

I've been diagnosed with this exact disorder, not because I wanted to be more dramatic, but because a licensed psychiatrist diagnosed me with it. But as per usual, if it doesn't exist in America, it doesn't exist at all, apparently. Don't devalue people's illnesses and diagnosis. 10:54 Umm, Complex PTSD is actually more than people “trying to sound more dramatic and disruptive”. I’m not saying Veronica has cPTSD or that it would explain her actions or really that it has anything to do with this case, but I just needed to point out that Complex PTSD is a REAL mental health condition. While the DSM-5 does not distinguish between PTSD and complex-PTSD, cPTSD is a recognised diagnosis in the ICD-11 which is released by the WHO. My understanding is that the mental illness section of the ICD is widely used in many European countries as the basically the equivalent of how the DSM is used in the United States. DISCLAIMER: I am not a mental health professional. I’m just a regular person suffering from cPTSD and everything from this point on is just my own limited understanding my condition from my own limited research and lived experience. Complex PTSD is used to describe PTSD like symptoms resulting from chronic/long term exposure to trauma( e.g. prolonged DV, child abuse/neglect, long term military deployment etc.) whereas PTSD is used to describe the result of a more singular event (e.g. a car crash/traumatic injury, SA, a mass shooting, a house invasion etc.). While PTSD survivors often have a specific instance they can point to as the cause of their symptoms, with cPTSD the “traumatic event” is actually multiple traumatic events of varying severity over a long period of time that tend blend together in one’s recollection. This results in differences in how symptoms present. For example, with cPTSD, the person may often experience Emotional Flashbacks. These are flashbacks that lack the sensory component in regular PTSD flashbacks. During a regular PTSD flashback, the person may experience physical sensations from the time of the traumatic event along with the emotional and physiological response, for example car accident survivor may hear the sound of glass shattering or see the other car, or feel the force of the impact. With cPTSD, flashbacks often lack this sensory component because there is no singular event the body is remembering - rather the body is drawing from multiple traumatic experiences that happened at different times, for different reasons, in different environments etc. C-PTSD triggers may also be more subtle (e.g. a specific tone of voice, a set of circumstances or a specific order of events that spell danger to the subconscious mind) than regular PTSD (e.g. environmental triggers that remind the person of the singular traumatic experience such as time of day, lighting, sounds, imagery, etc.). C-PTSD also often comes with challenges with emotional and bodily self-regulation, a deep sense of shame and self loathing, lack of self confidence, detrimental thought patterns that are based in a long list of past experiences rather than current reality, attachment issues and difficulties in recognising and forming new healthy relationships - symptoms that may not necessarily apply to, say, a survivor of a traumatic injury. This is just a list of things I remember off the top of my head. If you’re interested in the specifics of the condition you’re probably better off doing your own research.

Such a profoundly tragic story for the husband and the children. It's so sad that evil like this can be very difficult to recognize until its too late. Ronald only was able to see how truly awful this person was after they had already committed each other to marriage and children and living situation. Why must people adamantly object to the presence of mental disorders in these cases? A case that notes mental disorder is not done so to excuse the perpetrator, nor to vilify those with similar disorders but to understand all contributing factors to their motivations (however twisted) and thereby prevent future occurrences.
Complex PTSD is in the ICD 10. It exists aa much as any other "diagnosis" in the DSM and it's not more severe PTSD. It's a different manifestation of trauma thar results from chronic or developmental traumatic events. Dr Grande should know this.

All diagnostic requirements for PTSD are met. In addition, Complex PTSD is characterised by severe and persistent 1) problems in affect regulation; 2) beliefs about oneself as diminished, defeated or worthless, accompanied by feelings of shame, guilt or failure related to the traumatic event; and 3) difficulties in sustaining relationships and in feeling close to others. These symptoms cause significant impairment in personal, family, social, educational, occupational or other important areas of functioning.” I left out the lengthy diagnostic criteria, but since you now have the ICD number, you can Google the whole thing. There is no official CPTSD in the DSM5, but it is fairly accepted as a diagnosis involving ptsd occurring after chronic traumas. So, long-term exposure to traumatic events.
I’m sorry, I usually nod my head in agreement with you, Dr. Grande, but I can’t let this slide. I have been diagnosed complex PTSD by a licensed mental health provider with extensive training in treating trauma. I’m not trying to make it more dramatic. I’d do anything not to have it. For the other viewers, no one with CPTSD would ever call PTSD “simple”. It is not simple. It’s a horrible thing to go through and I wouldn’t trade CPTSD for PTSD. CPTSD has all the symptoms of PTSD along with emotional disregulation, problems maintaining relationships and a messed up sense of self. Maybe calling it complex PTSD is a mistake because it minimizes the trauma of both types of sufferers. Veronica Youngblood may well have CPTSD, I’m not a psychologist, so take this for what it’s worth: She never learned how to create healthy relationships. Being abandoned would definitely cause a messed up sense of self. She was a sex worker, so that reinforced the pattern of bad relationships and a negative sense of self. The affairs and the “on again off again” divorce are excellent examples of emotional disregulation. What never comes up in CPTSD discussions is violence. She may have CPTSD, but she’s also a cold blooded killer. The diagnosis does not give her a pass for all the horrible things she did to her husband and ultimately her children. There’s a reason the insanity plea rarely works and that’s because there are so few people with mental health disorders that are not conscious of right and wrong. May she rot in prison for what she did to those beautiful girls.
Thank you for your excellent explanation of C-PTSD and how it makes sense that Veronica would have acquired it. Agree, of course that suffering from PTSD in any form does not excuse cold-blooded premeditated murder.

CPTSD has a definition but is not in the mental health manuals usually. It is “continuous trauma experience for extended periods of time that cause great difficulty in living a safe/productive life”. After 56 years of abuse, I was diagnosed with it, although PTSD is how it is listed. It is more of a Chronic trauma than a Complex. People are more lost in the condition.

Did you witness abnormal behavior from the mother?

Thank you for that.
The diagnosis IS in the ICD, though.

It's disappointing and disingenuous to claim CPTSD is only used to "make PTSD sound more dramatic". It's unequivocally false. Because of claims such as the one you made here, people genuinely suffering and diagnosed with this disorder are going to be ignored and laughed at because people are going to think they're just "trying to be dramatic", when in reality they were legitimately diagnosed by someone with FAR more qualifications than yourself and your "PhD in counselling". As someone in a mental health related field, you should be dismantling the stigma around mental illnesses, not perpetuating it. It's honestly disgusting and yet another reason I'm close to leaving this channel for good. Be better going forward.
Note: Her using CPTSD as an excuse for murdering her own children in cold blood is beyond disgusting and fucked up. I'm definitely not giving her any leeway here for that.

Every photo of Veronica ,her eyes look manic.
She's crazy as a box of frogs.
So crazy yet so blank

There is no official CPTSD in the DSM5, but it is fairly accepted as a diagnosis involving ptsd occurring after chronic traumas. So, long-term exposure to traumatic events.
Awfull disturbed woman!!!! :(
I’m sorry, I usually nod my head in agreement with you, Dr.
