Thank you for this content, but for the sake of objectivity, if you going to title your post "African Spirituality vs Christianity', it would be good to hear from both sides. Hopefully we get to hear a response that presents more than a colonial representation of christianity.
@@joshuamadalitsochiundiza8638 Maybe you have a point. But I am wondering which representation of Christianity is not colonial in Afrika? Except for Ethiopia, where Christianity is also not indigenous, by the way: Acts 8: 26 - 40. It is an externally infused ideology. Tell me of an Afrikan community that was christian in 10 BCE? In 476 at the fall of the Roman Empire? Or of an Afrikan community where France, Britain, Portugal, Italy, and Spain, did not infuse Christianity into the colonial philosophy. Are you up for an interview, to educate us on the Non-Colonial Christianity, to bring the balance? It would be interesting to learn.
@@DrKhanyiLitchfieldTshabalala Siyabonga Mama Tshabalala for your response. I am in agreement to some extent on your point of external infusion of Christianity, but my point dwells ultimately on the African response to Christianity, the philosophical benchmark being African realism, where Africa has always had a response to external infusions, whether forced or of our free will. Christianity is recent in the context of African history, but its adoption and adaption locates that premise of African realism that is the crux of Africa's response to Christianity. This is manifested by individuals like Emperor Ezana, Prophetess Kimpa Vita, Simon Kimbangu, St Augustine of Hippo, Johanne Marange etc. Or the unspoken Abba Mikael who had a brief but great influence on reformer Martin luther. I wouldnt mind an interview, I am keen to learn. Asante sana for your response, I am also your student, with many questions.

Been doing and still doing research on the origins of Christianity and Africa…I left the religion recently for so many reasons because of most of what she is saying. People are afraid to do research and people are still afraid to be wrong.

Absolutely love uMa Khanyile. As a holder of a Masters Theological degree, I truly love how uDr Khanyile is trying to stretch the mind of Africans. The religion of Christianity in Africa is certainly Eurocentric & even the concept of Easter is problematic. We need to decolonize Education & Culture & love ourselves as Africans. Siyabonga Ma.
Is the room for consideration of the fact that Christianity was in Africa (Ethiopian Orthodox) before it existed in Europe. Then again, one can argue is the Christianity that is predominant is the one introduced by Europeans
We need woke academicians. We need woke PhD holders; we need woke Profs. But most of all, we need woke students. Some people's unconscious incompetence (they do not know that they do not know) is so deep that the truth makes them attack the truth bearer. They confront the truth with such ferocious anger, that it flies above their heads.
We need more sisters and brothers like her to talk more about the Africa Spirituality so as to reeducate us on it. We did lose many of our beliefs due to colonization. Thank God for social media we are getting better and more informed about the situation. We know today that the earlier colonizers were killers and liars. They distorted the narrative to potray their thoughts and actions. Our Tongues may differ across Africa but the Spirituality across the continent is the same. The Europeans copied and whitewashed our beliefs to be theirs. Thank God for the new awakening.
@@angelscakes4678 hi, you typed "thank God..." what god are you referring to? Because I am assuming you support the Dr.' Perspective. You should've said "thank the ancestors"
@@Charl__tee I think you are missing the point. God is the creator, I do not recall Dr Khanyisile saying there is no God. If God does not exist, who created all the things you are seeing today? Respect all the way.
I want to share this video with everyone I know. As a Canadian born Jamaican, I struggle to know myself. My "Jamaican" culture is a mix of African slavery and British colonization. Jamaica’s national dish (ackee and salt fish) comes from West Africa (ackee) and Britain (salted cod). I struggle to connect with my family because I am awake and question everything about our culture. Jamaicans, especially my family are so lost in Christianity they don’t understand what I see and know. They need something to believe in without understanding their power is within. I needed the reminder that spirituality comes from within not a "high priestess" or other head. Thank you for sharing this!
How will your spirit transition from here to heaven without the power of holy spirit. Logical God is the one i will meet not a familiar spirit. I want to know why does it matter of jesus was black or white will that change my fate. Will i not have to accept my fate ? If i decide to reject God follow after another spirit. If I decide not to accept jc as my savior will learning my heritage, which exempt me from God wrath. I am .... Great i Am .... we our in trouble. Thank God for who he is because he knew sent us our lord savior. Just asking question nothing more because I have accepted, will not follow a stranger voice.
@@tee6690 Well as far as I know Christianity was forced to us. Those who rejected it were killed so that whoever rejects it would be scared that they will also be killed. Ask yourself why other reading material were not allowed but only the bible was consented. You wouldn't read anything unless you will be punished badly. The gods we know didn't make any threats to people but the white god is so full of threats. Promises to burn
I agree. My mom is very religious - constantly saying things like “God is good” and “The Bible says”. My dad is a decon at the church we go to here in Australia. This year alone, I tried to get rid of everything that has had to with Christianity. I even went so far as to take a small biblical book I received as a gift for joining the church my family and I joined after moving to Australia two years ago and leave it there without anyone in my family noticing. Sadly, one of the musicians there found it and asked if it was mine, now it’s in our house again. Except this time, it now belongs to my holier-than-thou mom. What makes me ashamed of my family is that they hate everything about colonization, except Christianity - which came through colonization. They learned about colonization and slavery in school, but I don’t think they ever learned about the level of damage colonization did to our cultures and minds. And for my mom, she became religious because of all the trauma and abuse she experienced, which I’m sure also came with colonization. She thought that by being religious, God would somehow heal her pain…So I think she’s still traumatized. And I agree with Mama Khanyisile here - that religion is actually a lot like drugs which every affects the way you judge people. And that’s exactly what’s happened to my mom: she is on a drug because of her trauma trying to heal, and that drug is religion. Love Mama Khanyisile’s spirit. ❤️❤️👍👍

I identify with all that this SeeStar says. I too always asked questions a lot in church got me into trouble a lot, eventually I left & yes it was like going through a messy divorce took 2yrs before I stopped saying I was 7 day Adventist & 3yrs to stop saying I was christian. The brainwashing was very deep & embracing African Spirituality is what helped me remain liberated. I have a much stronger & closer relationship with my Ancestors & my guides they help me a lot. I am aware of their presence every waking hour.
This is one of the most profound conversations I’ve ever heard in my life. This video should absolutely trend. A lot of us need such information so that we know where you come from and we know where we are going.
Here in Tobago everything the mzungu gave us thru slavery was bad for us. Everything. But many of us still hold on to their religion and is prepared to die defending it.
It is not just Tobago. It is both the diaspora and the continent herself. It is almost like we have been bewitched. We even kill each other about Islam or Christianity. Now we have a faction that is breeching Christianity and Judaism. My analysis has always come to the same conclusion = decolonisation or the need for a cultural revolution. Europe went through it in Rennaissance, India has had one, China, Malysia, America, Japan.... But no, we want to berate our spirituality, culture, and languages, and hope to rise.
@@SPICEMAN-473 I wish all my people can come to that kairos moment. We are largely initiated into religion without our permission. I mean I was born into a Catholic family, thus baptised as a baby, names after Catholic Italian people, encouraged to respect Latin, etc. But that was my parents! Not me! Through my journey in life, I had to develop into me.... I ditched my colonial religious names, and I gave myself the name, Khanyisile. A past perfect tense meaning, the one who has lighted, or brought light. It fits in with my ancestral gift of knowledge.
Really enjoying this. I practiced Christianity for many years until God provided me with an awakening. I now pay attention to the synchronicities that exist. God will always make Himself and His message clear to those whose spirits are awake. I’ve learned that there are many truths in many spiritual practices and it’s ok for me to adopt what resonates with my journey.
Indeed the doc is right...the kingdom of God is within you....a church/religion is like a fish in a pond thinking that's life not knowing there is a fish In the ocean
I am a mix of Jamaican and American Indian, and have been spiritual ever since my awakening two years ago (🍄🟫). The divine is within all of us, it’s no separate person. Praying to the divine is praying to your higher self. I agree with most of what you said, except for the part about race. There are not three races, there is only one, and that’s the human race. Melanated skin and coily/curly hair is suited more for a hot and sunny environment, lighter skin and less curly or straight hair is suited more for a cooler cloudy environment. We’re all still human. The sooner we stop dividing ourselves and realize that we’re all the same, the sooner we can become united and strong like we’re suppose to be. Divide and conquer is a strategy of the colonizers.
I truly admire listening to this sister speak; her words are filled with knowledge, wisdom, and clarity. Afrocentric thought and African spiritual oneness is the key to true liberation for those of us of African heritage. We must recognize that we are both the source and the solution to our challenges. On my own, i am just a Catholic-raised and terrorised woman whose crucible was more Latin, Italian and English. I cannot thank my ancestors enough for finding me.
I am luo from Kenya.... I really liked that part of us not being a tribe...but a state, a nation.... Wow
I m spiritually awakened and humble about it
Religion. The greatest tool ever used on poor humans psyche.
First time watching Dr. Khanyisile Tshabalala but am really impressed by her wisdom and Afro-centrism. Much love and respect🥁🪘👏🏾.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Dr. Khanyisile Tshabalala is truly inspiring.
Been doing and still doing research on the origins of Christianity and Africa…I left the religion recently for so many reasons because of most of what she is saying. People are afraid to do research and people are still afraid to be wrong.
There's an article that might aid your research entitled: "Here's What No One Told You About Africa's Ancient Christian History" by Laura M. Quainoo
Oh my goodness, how can i like this video a thousand times? Somebody show me...🙏🏿
Thank you so much for your enthusiasm! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

This woman is a GENIUS!!!
I carry geniuses, it is the ancestors in me. On my own, I am the naive, Soweto-raised, western-educated, PhD holder who has been fed disinformation and misinformation like all other Afrikans. I battle cognitive dissonance like all my people.
Thank you for this great content. We must proudly go back to true Africanity.

I got my life back, too! Thank you so much, Doc. I love you so, so much!
Camagu! Thokoza!
Camagu! Thokoza!
This is words from above ashered by the ancestors through the mouth of Dr Tshabalala.
Can we all see what is going on. We as Africans are seeking truth, and identity for those who know nothing about their identity.❤
Imagine
@Charl__tee God is the creator of ancestors. No answer without God. It's a sin to play God.
@@Charl__tee I think you are missing the point. God is the creator, I do not recall Dr Khanyisile saying there is no God. If God does not exist, who created all the things you are seeing today? Christianity was imposed on people and it's a fact you cannot deny. Respecting other people's belief is a way to go, we cannot always find something negative to say about other people's belief. Respect all the way.
We really appreciate you mama. Imfundiso zakho helps us to find ourselves as we learning who we really are as African children. Thokoza
Thank you for sharing your personal journey. It's important to reflect on our roots and beliefs to find our true selves.
Jamaicans for starters many are a blend of West & East African take a closer look hat Uganda & Kenya. Do you ancestry DNA
Thank you Mama 🙏🏼

BEAUTIFUL.
Deconstructing from Christianity has been the hardest for me!! But I’m getting there!
Me too. Stay strong
This is one of the most profound conversations I’ve ever heard in my life. This video should absolutely trend. A lot of us need such information so that we know where you come from and we know where we are going.
Camagu! May it be so! May Afrikan ancestors keep the conversation alive
Ma’am you are 🔥 Spirituality is beyond the understanding of Abrahamic religions.
Here in Tobago everything the mzungu gave us thru slavery was bad for us. Everything. But many of us still hold on to their religion and is prepared to die defending it.
GRENADA 🇬🇩 HERE…I NEVER TRUSTED ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE…I LEFT RELIGION YEARS AGO AND EMBRACED SPIRITUALITY
It’s no different here in the USA. The majority of Black Americans are the same way. But alot of us are starting to wake up.
But Africans had slavery they had Christianity

And just like that a girl found her tribe. And everything I have always subconsciously known got affirmed. Thank You❤
Really enjoying this.
Stop saying ‘him’ and stop talking as if ‘god’ is some separate person. Spirit (the creator) is within all of us and doesn’t have a gender.
Mama, Re a leboga for the absolute truth you share ❤❤❤. Indeed, social media is the coloniser's downfall.

Please let's us know the teachers of Africa spirituality
She is an absolute genius ❤
