It might not be asked for, but that might be an opportunity to find out why they might be being problematic in your class. Compare notes. If you just want to complain about your students to bond with other teachers... I mean you can but it's not going to help. If you see your kids as problems, you may be the problem. Or it could be the subject. Or it could be who they are with. Or it could be a bunch of other things. You will never know because you are too interested in complaining about them.

Especially when it's a male teacher with troublesome male students. They don't seem to have any concept of how differently boys behave when they have a male role-model in the room.

I have gotten that response from fellow teachers when I am not complaining, but rather reaching out for advice on a particularly troublesome student. When another teacher makes that comment to you, they are typically just trying to belittle you and make themselves feel like a superior teacher (and in most cases, they probably aren't, hence why they make the snide remarks). If they want to be helpful, they will share advice not just say, "Oh, he's not a problem for me" and dismiss your concerns.
@@cherub2918 Same thing applies to female students and female teachers. I have seen so many female students be a huge challenge for male teachers while the female teachers claim, "Oh she's so sweet and helpful."
Yeah I’m reading the comments and I know it wasn’t the intention of this video to create a male versus female teacher skit but that’s how it comes across. Truth?… No Tea no Shade…no sexist raid… as a guy teacher I see the students do respond and treat me differently than my female colleagues. The girls try to sweet talk and get what they want and the boys try to get that high five yo bro/man/dude what’s good vibe. Meanwhile with my female colleagues I hear that the boys talk down and act silly more to them and the girls act very catty towards them. It’s like they are exploring the gender roles that they think they should fit into based on what their parents teach at home. But when you bring it to the parents attention … oh no not my kid … yeah right!
No I think it was exactly the intention of the creators. They know what they are doing. Worst is, it's all true. I've had just about every one of these interactions. 🙄 Sounds like you have, too.
Too true one of my HS students told me she was late to class because “a friend got her period and she was bleeding all over”. My coworker and I thought, but did not say wait until you give birth. My response was, it took three of you to handle that and marked her tardy.
@@vampirina-vp7op Rude. Helping a friend (making sure she has feminine products, is able to find clean pants etc) is more important than getting to class on time.
This happens at home too. Mom vs Dad. Dad usually gets the calmer kid. Mom gets the crazy kid. And before you go off, no mom didn't do anything to make that happen. It's the big, deep voice and the stronger presence that kids respond to. Mom has been nurturing, soft and cuddly, while Dad will pick you up and throw you like a rocket just to see how high he can throw you. Dad will walk off and leave you behind in the store if you aren't paying attention, while Mom will watch you closely and freak out if she doesn't see you for a few seconds. Kids know what's up. You can't relax with Dad. You gotta keep one eye on him at all times. 😂
Some students don’t even ask to use the bathroom anymore. They just get up and walk right out of the classroom without saying a word. And then they’re shell shocked when they get called out by their teacher for simply not asking to use the bathroom first!
I used to work in am education-adjacent field. My interviews were often held during prep periods or after school when they were having to make copies and do their decorations. Teachers are already criminally underpaid for just the instructional work they do. No one mentions how criminally underpaid they are for the atmospheric stuff they do.
$500 is crazy except she said she spent it on TPT so as that's all digital resources hopefully that is a one off expense to set up your first classroom that you can just reprint if the ones you printed this time get damaged. On the other hand if you spent $100 on supplies from the cheap shop they will last 6 months before needing to be replaced.
Longer comment about alternative school teachers: The best part about going to an Alternative highschool was the fact that all the teachers were kick ass, understanding, and the male and female teachers both got the same level of respect for ONE key thing: They all treated their students with respect and like real people. Most alternative school kids are usually already going through it, and being treated like a human being by an adult/teacher is so unusual and unreal that most kids CHOOSE to respect and listen to them because they feel like those teachers aren't out to get them or truly understand and want to help. I wish teachers in traditional schools (like the female teacher here) could understand and get to experience what it is like to teach an alternative school class. Their kindness and patience would never go unseen, because most of those kids were never given that to begin with. "Dominating" teachers like the guy would be the ones getting more disrespect because alternative students hate being looked down on or seen as less than equal. No matter your teaching style, there is always a place for you to help kids succeed. Some kids need structure and rules while others need understanding and trust, some might need a mix, but if your intentions are to help your students and not control them, then there will always be a place where you can help students succeed and learn. This could ofc just have been my experience, but I wanna see more alternative graduates or students talk about their school experience because too few actually do. Genuinely, thank you to all the teachers out here doing their best.
