  • This time we went spearfishing during the night, only using polespears! The darkness adds a level of challenge, but we catch some delicious fish and have an unforgettable encounter with a friendly squid.
    A dive so fun, it was even worth changing in -15°C!
    As always, the Norwegian waters keeps on giving:)

    You are so lucky, in your country you can get mussels, crabs,... and night dive,.... we have bigger restictions here, from May to September we can dive all the days ( from sunrise to sunset only) and from September to May we can go only during weekends ( from sunrise to sunset and weather permit....) . We can get 5kg fish per person/day,( or two pieces where only one piece can be more than 5 kg), no shell at all and only two pieces octopuss (includes in the 5kg limit).. and a lot of areas are resticted to "profesional fishers only"..... seems I have to change my country.......

      Sounds like you have a heavily fished area, where do you live? In Norway we’re lucky to have some very healthy fish stocks, which allows us to have that much freedome! Of course there’s some local restrictions, minimum sizes, and closed seasons on certain species, but never feel like we’re being limited:)

      Too bad. Hopefully in time there will be enough fish for some more spearing!

    Bruker du 9mm drakt når du dykker på vinteren?

    • @AkselOrstavik
      @AkselOrstavik  ปีที่แล้ว

      Har brukt 7mm året rundt! 7mm sokker og 5mm hansker:) på de kaldeste dagene holder det i ca 2 timer

      Er det stor forskjell på 9mm og 7mm når de kommer til varme og comfort?

    Awesome videos! What mm suit are you wearing in -15c?

      Thanks! Water is luckily around 6 degrees, so we use 7mm suits:)

    I’ve been spear fishing when it was snowing before but that’s ridiculous I drove home with my wet suit on

    • @AkselOrstavik
      @AkselOrstavik  ปีที่แล้ว

      Where do you dive? It was veeery tempting, but with a 2 hour drive it would be a bit too long. And by the end, our suits were freezing themselves, so we sort of had to get them off😅

      Possible Alaska but for now I’ll have to stay around here was hoping to get time to go south along Oregon coast and look for some lingcod I can do that on a weekend. Between work and family it’s hard to get away for long

      Lingcod’s looks really cool, would love to hunt them sometime. Just gotta make the most of those time you get out in the water!:)
