They set the standard in southern gospel ... plain and simple. No group has ever quite replicated their harmonic perfection. I believe their lives matched the message. Great group!

I woud like to coment to that in this record, in my vision, I see a wonderful performance of George (what a bass on first song...) and Danny in some tracks.
Some people today talks about Tim Riley, Mike Holcomb, Richard Sterban.....but no one in anyway is like George Younce! He is the man, king os the basses, JD Sumner can hit the most low notes, but George is more musical, has a great tone, wonderful pitch and a amazing chest voice!
All very true! There are loads of great bass singers, but none are better than George Younce!

I’ve got this album sitting in my closet alongside all my other Cats albums.
Sadly, none of my children are really interested in SoGo music so they will probably end up at the Goodwill when I die.

I think I have all of them in my collection now, but I have a long way to go before they are posted on here. And to answer your question, I believe Legacy Five is pretty close to the Cathedrals in today's time. It was founded by Scott Fowler and Roger Bennett, two former Cathedrals members.
The Cathedral Quartet Fans I would love have a personal colection of The Cathedrals, you certainly is blessed friend. I hope someday that I can achieve this, but I know the hard work that it involves (search the original lp's, discs, etc...). About Legacy Five, I think exactly the same friend! If you see Ernie and Signature Sound, for me, there are kind of lose identify, some tenor solos version, sometimes I miss original quartet music...
It is hard work, but if you want something to go by look up Cathedral Quartet discography. The websites SG History and Southern Gospel Journal both have great lists of the records, but Southern Gospel Journal has a list of their videos also.
I read somewhere that the Cathedrals recorded around 850 songs over the years.

The first song is better in live versions ive heard, the inner parts are a bit muddy😮
Always considered Glen to be the actual baritone and Mark or Scott to be the actual lead/2nd tenor singers…
Glen was definitely more in that range, and Scott and Mark most often sang harmony above him. But I feel like his designation as “lead” singer in this case is not so much to do with vocal part. Because he still carried the melody of a song quite frequently, and the harmonies were just built around him. He had a prominent voice that was great for singing melody.

Originally, they were from the Cathedral of Tomorrow in Ohio. Rex Humbard was the pastor.
@@brandenblackwell9116 yes, but I want to know the name of their church, the name of their church, if they are Adventist, or Baptist, or Assemblies, which church do they belong to?
@@Leonardocarvalhooficial I am honestly not sure what denominations each individual member belongs to. But, I am not too concerned as long as the message is Biblical, and that’s what I’ve always heard from the Cathedrals.
