The Cathedrals - Some Glorious Day (Live 1987)
Here's something that you don't see every day, the Cathedrals performing as a trio without George. This was in 1987 while George was recovering after a heart attack.
A friend of mine posted the complete concert to his channel and graciously allowed me to share some clips here. Do yourself a favor and check out the entire performance! I will post a link to it in the comments of this video.
Members here are:
Baritone/Bassist - Mark Trammell
Lead - Glen Payne
Tenor - Danny Funderburk
Pianist - Gerald Wolfe

Here is a legendary album by the Cathedral Quartet, and considered by many in the Southern Gospel field to be one of the all time great quartet albums. I had not seen a good version of this on TH-cam, and I figured it was about time it was shared here! Track listing: 1. Hand in Hand 2. The Man in the Sky 3. Something Within 4. Here's a special treat for everyone today! Go back in time and reminisce on what it was like to sit in concert with the prestigious Cathedral Quartet. This is a mostly complete set from Watermelon Park in 1982. One song was removed as half was cut out, and the rest had very poor tape quality. Other than that, this is a complete set from the Cathedrals that I hope you all will enjoy! Members: Ba...

The Cathedrals - The Unclouded Day (Live 1968)

Hope ya'll enjoy this rare audio clip of the Cathedrals in 1968! Bobby Clark was on the original recording of Unclouded Day, but left soon after, thus it became a concert staple for Mack Taunton. Taunton's rendition of Unclouded Day years later at the Cathedrals Reunion was a highlight of the night! It's neat to hear how it sounded in concert back in '68. Here is a rare video that I'm excited to share with you. The Cathedrals performing their "Go Out to the Program" routine where they impersonate several well known groups and personalities in gospel music. The Oak Ridge Boys originated this routine in the 1960's and for many years it was a staple of their concerts. I hope ya'll get a kick out of this like I did! Remember, all this was in good fu...

Sorry it's been a while since my last post, but I have a real treat for everyone! This is a recording that I didn't know existed for a long time, until I was fortunate enough to get in touch with Rick Busby who kindly shared it with me and allowed me to post it here. When Danny Funderburk had to miss a concert in 1986, Roger Bennett knew just the man to call. Rick Busby did a fantastic job with...

Here is an incredible piece of history! Glen Payne was in attendance at a Greater Vision concert, and they called him up to sing a couple songs. Well folks, here is an interesting one. To my knowledge, the Cathedrals only recorded and released this song as a trio. Therefore, this may be the only existing recording of the Cathedral Quartet performing this song! A huge thanks to Cliff Cerce who had the foresight to take his tape recorder to this concert, and has allowed me to share it all these years later. Members here are: Bass - George...

Very heartfelt message. It goes to show you how much these guys cared for one another.
I love the Cathral Quartet.
it's lovely to see these fellows singing together... bittersweet; they done good!
Such a great old record. I wore this out as a young kid. Nobody could do it like George. Heaven is full of great singers and ai k ow George is shouting “well glory!”
Awesome X 10
Outstanding!!
The best of the best right there.
Just like on the album and song Sunshine And Roses they hired women studio voices as back ups only and not be part of the group
Mais alguém assistindo em novembro de 2024?
My all time favorites. In my book they’re the best there is…..especially George Younce!
Lol
Who's watching in 2024
Great Music!
Well, it was George Amon Webster playing piano.
I'm looking forward to that glorious day, which is coming very soon. I will get to see the one that's been walking with me for the last sixty five years.
what other songs are on this album?
Listen these guys since the late 60,S AND THEY ARE BEST ,PERIOD TOTALLY AWESOME ,,!
Miss Glenn
I like the later version they did with the echo affect on the last chorus.
What happened to Rock of Ages?
Miss Glenn
❤
They are all great in my book, and God bless everyone and their families !!!!❤
Thanks for loving me Jesus
Is that The Price is Right set?
If so, the actual retail price of this showcase is... about 10 cents!
Lord, please mold me and make me. I’ve messed up so much in my past that it makes me sick, but I know our merciful savior has forgiven me. I just want him to remold me into a vessel of honor. He’s so good. As Solomon said in Song of Solomon 5:16, “he is altogether lovely”. I’m so unworthy of his love, mercy and grace. Song of Solomon 6:3, ‘I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine’. Song of Solomon 7:10, ‘I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me’.
The way they could end a song is still unmatched!
One of the most beautiful hyms
I love the random tambourine that came in on the side of the screen lol
Any one know if you can get this on cd
It was available on CD for a short time, but are pretty hard to find these days. May be worth keeping an eye out on eBay
This is the only version of Homeland with Ernie and Scott that I can find
HOLY AND TOTALLY AWESOME!
the baritone is my favorite tenor.I know Mac have recorded with him.
L called Haskell Cooley the other day his wife told me he could not remember any thing so sad He was an old friend of many years I will miss him.
Tysm for sharing this. Sure do miss all them. But so happy their with Jesus. No more sickness or pain
Was John Malone with the Cathedrals? He was a friend of my dad. And I remember when I was a kid, he sang this song and How Great Thou Art ! And when he did, the windows of the church rattled !
Love to hear memories like that! But I don’t believe there was ever a John Malone with the Cathedrals
What a beautiful voice! Powerful!
Com Mark Tramen fica melhor...embora Scott tem voz mais potente e clara...amo Cathedrals...fiz uma linda versão que canto em portuguese...
Still, after all this time, nobody can. match that sound ... rich full bass, flawless lead, baritone that blended so well, and a razor sharp tenor.
Wish I could've experienced them live
Best there ever was …
Just love them. Sometimes I wish I could sing like Vestal Goodman ❤
Which church is the quartet or musical group from? Which church are they from? Someone help me please, which church are they from?
Originally, they were from the Cathedral of Tomorrow in Ohio. Rex Humbard was the pastor.
@@brandenblackwell9116 yes, but I want to know the name of their church, the name of their church, if they are Adventist, or Baptist, or Assemblies, which church do they belong to?
@@Leonardocarvalhoofc97 I am honestly not sure what denominations each individual member belongs to. But, I am not too concerned as long as the message is Biblical, and that’s what I’ve always heard from the Cathedrals.
@@brandenblackwell9116 I'm not saying if you're worried, I'm asking because I researched and not even Google knows, so you understand.
@@Leonardocarvalhoofc97 sorry for the misunderstanding, unfortunately I don’t have the answer.

what a beautiful song !!!
Christian music like this from this era, always a blessing and very helpful when I am writing poetry. I aim to compile 100 poems into a book. I on Poem 81. And with music like this soothing my thoughts, that will help me reach 100. All of them are my way of praising the Lord, with a pen in hand.
