Hii America, usijaribu kuviolate rights za watu maana utakiona cha mtema kuni! I also went to the DC restaurant and was shocked at the prices to the point where sikuacha tip. My bill came to around $55 dollars na wameshainclude gratuity! I only had 1 chapo, goat meat, sukuma, na chai masala. The flavor of the food was not what I expected; very little flavor, but the chai was really tasty.
One thing I’ve realized with most African restaurants & stores is their prices tend to be higher than the others (American, Mexicans, etc)

Even in kansas city that's happen to me. I was working as a CNA and at that moment I was pregnant, so you can imagine I worked at the end of the month I went to office to get my money and my employee say come next week on Monday ,I went there on Monday and again she said comeby tomorrow, I went to work and went home , next morning I pass by the office and she said come next week I'm like don't even see my situation and she said please next week .I said, "Okay, and she never paid.She said wait I will pay you with next month's payment, and I continue working and it was my time to deliver, went deliver my baby after 3 days being discharge I texted her I will comeby office to get my money and she say okay .went there and she wasn't in the office incase so frustrated can't imagine my fellow kenyan doing that very disgusting.

This is a very common thing back in Kenya, because there is no law. People get misused so badly. Someone getting denied their salary is a non-issue because there is nowhere to go. These guys are bringing that shit here! No, it just will not work!

On our recent summer vacation visit to DC this restaurant was among our must see / visit places on our list .
We had made early dinner reservations because we had little ones with us and wanted to be in and out fed done and gone before the night hawks got there especially on a Saturday night ! Unfortunately our experience was below our expectations from the food to the service .
Service was very slow food not that great and a bit pricey but that would have been okay if we had at least enjoyed the food and our experience was pleasant.
I requested for kenyan tea the waitress told me they didn’t serve Kenyan tea 🫢I was shocked I asked are you serious you don’t serve Kenyan tea ? You don’t even promote our tea ?
she thought about it and then she answered we only have the kind that you have to boil “No tea bags !! I told her it’s okay never mind.
Needless to say it was our first time to go there ! and yes definitely our last time .
Our experience was clearly nothing to write home about .
God has vindicated them lessons learnt

I spoke to Kevin a few years back about his prices. He candidly said he his target is not Kenyan clientele... he is targeting west Africans, whites and the rest. He said that if he depended on Kenyans his business would never thrive because we can as well cook our own ugali and nyama and Samosa... so we'll keep complaining about the prices as I was doing at the time. He said hao ma westy and others are who have made him who he is today.... just to respond to your Samo comment.
