    I appreciate this video. One thing that maybe you did mention and I missed is that it doesn't seem like we can apply an auto-size feature to page-number text boxes. If you do that, it seems to really mess up the appearance of the page numbers when it jumps from single to double digits. Just make sure that you leave enough room in the size of the text box for the total amount of pages expected in the document.

    thank you for this very helpful tutorial !! i have a file layout exactly like your example (booklet) is there anyway when in the double spread view, only the right hand side page has a number and it counts up numerically (i.e skipping every second page). Essentially can you program the automatic numbering to miss every second page but still count up numerically ?!?! thank you !!

    I love the way you explain things, great teacher. Is it possible to number only on the left page of a spread (Day 1, Day 2) and not the right page. I want each spread numbered. I am putting a book together that has journal pages on every right side panel. Hoping so, it would make it alot easier to have this automatic. thanks!

    Week after watching and trying three other videos on this subject I got page numbering to work but I do not find this easy, I work in Prem Pro, Audition, Photoshop and illustrator and I used to be good at InDesign but have had to relearn. The problem is all look the same but are very different in tiny ways The way one clicks out of the Type tool is different. I am slightly dyslexic so it is even worse for me. Still this was the best. Bravo. I hate the Word numbering system too. It drives me crazy.

      When Adobe makes a tiny change in one program and not the others it makes it even worse, I feel your pain!

  • @BarbO729

    Have been anxiously awaiting new tutorials from you! Two questions come to mind on the page numbering video. First, wouldn’t you want page one to be on the right-hand page? Second, if so, how do you deal with page one’s facing page? Make that a no master page? Thanks!

    • @pixelandbracketindesign
      @pixelandbracketindesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Make it a different master and then make sure the numbering starts on the appropriate page. New tutorials certainly on their way, I’ve been building up the illustrator channel first :)

    Thanks for the super video, helped me a lot. 🙏🏻👍🏻
    In the document I am working on, I set up numbering with 01, 02, 03 ..., and wondered if it is possible to have different colors on the numbers in the numbering, so that 0 in black (first number), and 1 in blue (second number)?
    Or do I have to set up manual numbering for each individual page and not automatic numbering in the master page?

    • @pixelandbracketindesign
      @pixelandbracketindesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting question that I don’t know the answer too right away. It might be possible with something in GREP styles but kinda advanced haha. You’re right tho, you can’t really specify the characters individually like that, you can only overall change how that letter “A” looks on the master page. This will be something I look into sometime I think!

    Hi ! Thank you for your video, maybe you can help me... Do you think it's possible to make the page numbering start to a different number than 1? Let me explain, let's imagine that I have a document with 10 pages, but I want them to be numbered from 23 to 33 instead of 1 to 10, is it possible ?

    • @pixelandbracketindesign

    Hi, curious if you offer direct consulting? Not sure how you can let me know other than for me to check back here. Also trying to find how to hide a number (not interrupt the sequence) AND how to insert headers wherein the left page never changes, but the right page changes with each Section and/or Chapter--Independent of page sequencing. Hmm.

  • @osehietomi123
    @osehietomi123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Within my document I have a few pages that act as page breaks, how do i skip the number on those pages? If I create a new Master without the number and apply it to the page it still counts the number even if it doesn't show it. I want to skip those pages entirely in the page count

    • @pixelandbracketindesign
      @pixelandbracketindesign  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What you have to do is create a new section and in the numbering & section options, have “start section” checked. Then “start page numbering at” and put the page number you want to start that section at. tell that new section to start at a specific number every time you want to have page breaks.
      We do this at 3:20 to skip the cover page number, same process for any “unnumbered” pages in your document if you want to skip them
