    That line about the mural actually made my stomach drop a little. I can't even say how nice it is to listen to a creepypasta and NOT be distracted the whole time by bad writing, bad or total lack of pacing, simple grammar mistakes....the list could go on.
    Good job to the author, and I'm not even halfway through.

    • @land3021
      @land3021 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      And also, that part with the mural, definitely felt quite unique - even if it may or may not have been a reference to a previous creepypasta which I simply can't remember the name of - which was a lot shorter and was about some person who thought he saw a painting but then later realizes it was a window, much in the same manner that this guy does.

    Ahhhhhh what a confusing ending! I suppose it COULD be the father since he knew all of the memories, and as to why the son wasn't there: the monsters were still trying to get to him even though the safehouse was 'safe'. But they actively fled the old man. This, combined with the evidence that he knew everything of the early memories of the narrator's life makes a good case for the narrator thinking he would be safer with him.
    And as for the ending... that creature at the door HAD said, "Have it your way." It tried to trick him once before. However, it didn't know the answers to his questions then, about the guide. So why would it know anything about his father?

    • @sadek__4952
      @sadek__4952 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I wanna believe it is the father, because these monsters seem to pretty much never be able to replicate humans or animals perfectly… but why did the son leave like that ? Why did he leave his belongings if he went with the father ?
      There is still a chance that those creatures got very smart and somehow did a whole scene of them fleeing a “human” just to be convincing but i dont want to believe it

      The blobby face did a purposefully bad job to be a red herring. Then "dad" walks over and acts like the savior. Doesn't even pressure him to open. It was sus! If it was his dad he wouldn't have told him to open the door. It would have waited for help with his son and it would have explained why he went missing.

    Truly great narrators transport you, they create pictures of the story in the listeners mind and make you forget where you really are and bring you into the author’s creation to lose yourself within. There’s hardly a narrator out there who doesn’t miss a word or mess up a word occasionally and who’s to say without seeing the text that it’s even the narrator’s fault. That being said, when they’re good enough, they don’t miss a beat and most listeners don’t either. In all the stories this particular channel has done I can count on one hand those mistakes which, given the upload consistency and quality, can easily be ignored.

    ***SPOILERS***
    Synopsis/My Thoughts.
    It seems the popular opinion is that the kid got tricked and the dad was just a monster impersonating him. Based off the story though some of the creatures specifically the ones whom take on human form sound a lot like Skinwalkers. They only replicate sounds and phrases they've heard and attempt to mimic them. Imitating the voice or sound repeatedly. Some of the creatures seem more complex possibly more advanced/adept.
    For example the Elk in the Yellowstone kept making it's bugle like call up until it "got" Owen and then it repeated the only two words I suspect it heard which was "Help, Help me". Yet it kept the form of the Elk and did not morph into Owen. Possibly this creature wasn't capable of having the capacity of repeating more phrases nor the ability to shift into a human form. Maybe it just takes a certain amount of time or it needed to consume Owen or study him further to take his form. Considering the monsters at Mammoth Cave had taken human forms and were able to say multiple sentences making them a lot more convincing. So the Elk could have been a different monster entirely or perhaps more likely just younger and less experienced.
    Taking all that into consideration I find it hard to believe that the dad was a creature and not himself. Unless... one of them stalked him for a considerable amount of time in order to collect all that information more than likely being an elder/older monster. So what's the capacity of knowledge it can retain and how many forms can it take on..?
    Kinda a stretch to me that one would be able remember all those things and impersonate them flawlessly. So my conclusion is that it was either his dad... or hear me out.
    His dad actually turned into one from being bitten during the Mammoth Cave incident and I suppose the dad's memories could've been preserved. Also they somewhat appeared to have a hive mind thing going on so that might explain as well. Now I'm just rambling, but that's my take on it. I honestly hope the MC and dad are actually keeping the peace out there in the National Parks and we will hear some future installments of them hunting together.
    Lighthouse beautiful voice acting such distinct different voices makes the immersion fluid.

      Yes, i first heard the Missing 411 investigation guy on Coast2Coast AM years ago and those stories which i first thought were going to be typical missing persons stories, but after he began telling how bizarre and seemingly impossible some of the circumstances were in which people vanished away practically right in front of family and friends and other stories where the dead missing persons were found ridiculously far away from where they last were seen and their belongings taken from them and folded or placed neatly on inaccessible cliffs and such.
      I think those were the most scary and creepy stories id ever heard, even more disturbing than any fiction horror story id read or seen. I guess because they were real supernatural disappearances that had real witnesses and related family and many professional law enforcement, rescue and rangers who could attest and swear that these things happened.
      Those stories actually made me second guess going out to big parks and natural wildlife areas alone as i lived around and have been to several of the places that are on the list of places where the most people have vanished under strange circumstances mostly to never be seen again unless they were dead and in a bizarre way they were found, like after several searches already combed an area and nothing was there, but then the body would just appear.

    Really liked this one! The story sounded original and just the right amount of crazy :) (second time around, just as entertaining as the first time)

    I liked the first one the best. I like stories where preventable bad things happened bc the mc didn't follow instructions or such. Anyway I just really appreciate, grateful beyond words, the free audiobooks this channel provides

    I usually listen to scary stories to help me fall asleep, but now it's 4am and I'm still awake😭😭

    Very fine oration ! I was pleasantly surprised to hear that your story was not only interesting but your delivery was of the kind that makes me want to hear more of it. This doesn't really occur for me on TH-cam. Considering how many monotone or ill equipped voices permeate the story telling sector of YT, I don't expect much anymore. Thanks for doing this not only well, but with style as well.

    From beginning to end, this was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! What I especially love is that I was able to see these stories as if videos were playing in my mind. You're very talented and seem to have a special gift for this. Thank you for such solid entertainment.

    Excellent! The fact that the stories are separate, yet sequential, makes it even more interesting.
    It really keeps you wanting to hear the next line. And what an ending! Perhaps it's true: There are
    some Nature Forces which we can't comprehend. Perhaps we truly are crossing over some kind
    of invisible "Boundary". They don't want us there. I think most hikers etc. are respectful to the
    great beauty and heritage in this gift, but there are those who litter and behave intrusively, cause
    damage....well, maybe it causes resentment in someone/thing.

    Yup. This solidified me as your fan. Only been listening to you for a few days, a couple stories. This was amazingly narrated. I love the longer stories.
