Well... I tried. The quality of notes here isn’t great. Nobody really sings a C#1. There will probably be some mispitches. Accidentally forgot to mark the note in Joe’s clip. Bucketload of soz
@@jaybass2232 Sounds weird, but work on your higher register . It will help improve your range and also gives strength to you lower register . When singing low ,relax and sing , dont force out the notes. Try with scales going up and down.
Reuben Thomas Ight thanks I understand the relaxing part I’m great at that I don’t force notes out I’ve just practiced for years but thanks I will admit I’ve tried my higher register and will have to keep working on that more solid sound thanks btw🙂🙂
@@matthewdockray9745I kind of realised that Steve was using fry , when I heard his Bb1 in Amazing Grace. His tone was way too weak for some one to have modal low first octave notes. That bring said, Steve's got a beautiful fry.( Never thought I would say a sentence like this). You have any idea on his lowest modal note?
Reuben Thomas as I said in another comment, Thou Yang theorised he uses a very relaxed fry with lots of air, coupled with good studio mixing and bass boost. It’s hard to tell what his modal range is, but his full range showcased with rescue is Bb0-Eb4 I believe. Almost all of his notes are in backings, so we can’t really get a sense of his voice. I’ve heard him speak and he sounds like an average baritone. He’s only ever sung with rescue (he had two spells with them) and doesn’t sing at all outside of the group as far as I can tell. Here’s a clip of him singing live in studio down to G1 which is probably the best indicator of his natural bass sound is instagram.com/p/z2eMmkRXSh/?igshid=xmp5q4zf79xu
Always find it interesting, that so many low, low bass singers (including myself), C#1 is their lowest controlled note. But, Zlatopolsky is the only one who could it acoustically. That is mind blowing to think about. I am right at the cusp of being a true Oktavist (with an acoustic A1)... then there are people like Zlatopolsky and a few others, who can do it below F1.
fry. same as Steve Cross, Tim storms, Paul David Kennamer etc and all those low frying smooth basses at this pitch, but notably Cross and Adams. helped a lot with good mixing and bass boost etc etc
0:55 definitely not a profundo. I saw Thou Yang talk about him a bit. @@matthewdockray9745 Thanks. (I edited my comment, I don't know if you notice). Also, what's the song Buddy Liles is singing? What type of subharmonics is Joe using?
@Steven Criscione I meant in terms of the context of it being in a choir/choral setting. I'd say technique in that instance isn't as important as you're more often creating a texture to add to the piece, rather than singing a note to be heard. just going around with a camera a foot in front of your voice frying Z#-12s isn't really that interesting or impressive in terms of sound, or performance context

Yeah innit. I’m fairly certain they don’t lip sync. There’s a few inconsistencies in sound and quality compared to the studio version

Mason Watson it’s not. He performs all the live stuff the same as studio. Down to Bb0
