Awesome little prm radio these and for the cost of them they are well worth the money I have the hi power version but only use on low power. Great video best I've seen on these radio's 👍 from south wales 🏴
They are good, aren't they! I'm glad you're pleased with yours. I think you're very sensible running yours on low power; I doubt you would get much more range out of 1 Watt but you would use up the batteries quicker and the radio would get hotter. If I were going to break the rules by running too much power then I'd go the whole hog and use a much bigger external antenna as well :-)
The Floureon FC200 is quite impressive. I seem to have missed the boat getting hold of a pair of these radios as they seem to have disappeared from Amazon and Ebay.
Thanks Mike. Hope you and yours are getting on all right. I'm safely back home now and taking a short break from radio... I rather overdosed during my holiday :-) I'm sure I'll hear you on the air before too long. Keep on keepin' on mate, take care. 73.
Very good Ed. I was listening to you on 2m via Hack Green through the week and it sounded like you had a great time up on the hills, safe trip home and great to see you’re enjoying all aspects of radio. 73 M0EUK
Thanks Graeme. Yes I made upwards of 50 contacts on 2 meters FM just using handhelds, sometimes from high ground but also from the house where I was staying via GB3DC. Also tried (and failed) to make some QSOs via the repeater on the ISS and AO91 & AO92. I think the problem was simply that I always chose busy times! 73.
Excellent contacts ed enjoyed the post immensely I also use the same radio outstanding for the low price range I bought mine just over a year ago and I have also had some long distance contacts on it I just found out it is actually 1watt high power but fc200 recent models have apparently now been restricted to 500mw I also opted to disconnect my flashlight as it kept switching on in my pocket and draining the battery but all in all a cracking radio enjoy you're holiday in derbyshire.👍.
The one in the video is a more recent model with just the 500mW enabled. To be honest, if I were going to run higher power then I would want to be putting it into a bigger and more efficient antenna anyway! Had a great holiday in Derby and safely back home now. 73.
Bonjour la France :-) et merci pour vos mots d'encouragement. La majorite de gens de ce video etaient sur une colline ou sur un point haut. Il n'y avait pas de propag tropospherique, a ma connaissance. 73.

Hi Ed just come across your channel I have put a pmr radio on my list to add to my collection 26TG064
Nice, that spot is popular for radio DX. I’m near Nottingham and speak to a few of those guys in the video every now and then 🙂

I have 4 of those handhelds, same colour too. I've turned off the Roger beeps though by holding up when turning the radio on. Great rigs
