Actually, I would say this scene is a reinterpretation of Griffith's talk with the Idea of Evil. There is a lot of imagery such as the birthing representing Griffith's manipulated lineage, the violence representing the suffering that mankind created the Idea to justify, and the cosmos being the greater designs that God Hand enacts upon the world.

to be totally honest, as a fan of the anime and manga I actually think this scene is way better made in the movie than in both

this scene, towards the end, makes me feel a sadness. it feels like i died and my soul went to space. it's hard to explain but it it feels so real.

Miura Kentaro removed that scene from the manga after initial publication because he thought it gave away too much too early. The movie is consistent with Miura-san's intentions.

My Theory is that Griffith will in fact save humanity. He caused the most evil thing to his own group of "friends", but allready accomplished better things for the greater good.
However, he is still a sociopath who will sacrefice/kill Everything for his goals, but real warlords like oda nobunaga, who united japan, beheaded women & children of conquered villages too. I think Miura wanted to represent that in many cases such ruthless & disgusting Indivudals who aim for a goal that benefits a greater good for humanity, might be the ones who reach such goals. That Reality is not black & white, but controverse. The Reason why I say this is Because Griffith sees all that suffering, war, and despiar, that he may come to realization that the world needs a Peace, and to reach something like greater Peace, something Almost impossible, you need to become something way "greater" than a human. "Why remain Human?"
If this is true, and miura wanted to go this deep, Griffith Nevertheless needs to meet his Justice, for the natural flow of things. Reincarnation & souls are a thing in Berserk, and if you inform a bit abou the law of the Universe & spiritually, it's said that Karma deebts will be carried in the next Life. Basically, if you don't face justice in this Life, you will face it in the next one.
Also, a very true quote "My thoughts are my Reality". This is basically one of most fundamental things of the "law of assumption". Neville goddard is one of the teachers for that, and it seems miura was one of the few Writer Indivudals who knew about that OR had an indriect Connection to divine Messages.

the trilogy was amazing art style wise as that scene shows but they failed to add depth and connections between characters Griffith, Guts Casca and the gang: it made the sacrifice less dramatic as most of the ppl who died were random background characters to viewers who didn't watch the previous manga/anime.

was amazing, i think a lot fans of the manga would agree would have been an extra bonus if it showed griffith meet the evil in end and how the speak to each other, but they must have been under time constraint, hope the 4th movie is soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The translation in his last line sounds wrong, he says, "I see, that's why", not "when I can be a god".
