Just had to do this job again for the 2nd time in 12 years lol. Your tip on leaving the waterpump cover loose to facilitate the pushing up of the thermostat bypass pipe is a good 'un 👍

Isn't the 'hole', mentioned at 14:51, routed to outside the block just below the pump body and is there as a 'tell-tale' to show when coolant is leaking through the mechanical seal, i.e. time to replace the seal?

Hi Andy, I'll be doing this job on my Z1300 soon as i found small traces oil coolant in the oil.. Few people told me that failure of the mechanical seal and the oil seal behind it can cause coolant to make it's way to the oil pan. I'm new to Z1300 as i just recently bought it and wonder if you would be inclined to agree with what people tell me? If i could also ask you about that oil seal which you pulled out in pieces using pliers. Is that seal made of rubber only? or is there a metal ring inside it? I'm asking as i want to figure out what's the best way to get it out. If it has metal structure inside it then i'd rather use two screws to puncture the seal and pull the screws to drive the seal out. Thing is that after watching your vid it seemed to me that the oil seal is just rubber without metal plate inside so 2 screws method would probably not work. Would appreciate some info. Cheers

Nice upload, seems like a good easy fix to make your own o ring anyway. Didn't think to get the materials and do it myself. I assume you can get a mixed kit of the stuff for a variety of applications. In that there doesn't seem any sense in hunting down OEM parts.

G'day Richard, most bearing and seal type outlets sell o-ring section. I would not recommend it in a lot of applications, and it is yet to be proven here. They are better suited to low pressure static applications. Thanks for watching, Andy

Hi Andy, a nice job there. Thumbs up.
Honestly speaking, this is the first time I've seen repair being done by gluing an o ring cord/section to make an o ring.
Is it just normal super glue you used? Will it hold considering the coolant pressure there? Is it necessary to use RTV with the glued o ring?

barry9838 hi Barry, yes it’s normal superglue. I have used that process in industry many times. I didn’t use any sealant and it has not let go yet, but of course you can use it as added security. Thanks for watching, Andy

Andy mate the z1300 was/is called the ZG1300 here in the UK. The 'o' ring can't get anymore is this one - 92055-1032? Cradley here in the UK (spares dealer for Kawasaki have 5 in stock and they $7.76 US. These are OEM parts and I use them all the time - its where the ER5 bits come from. Some of them are GPZ500 parts and the labels tell the story. If you need anything give me a shout and I'll see what they have - matt

1986, ZG1300, ZN1300, KZ1300, Z1300 and Voyager. Yes I will grab one of those o-rings. I will have a look at their website, assuming they have one.

Bugger, that part number is for the 67mm 0-ring from the main impeller housing, not the one I need :/ I checked their parts list and the one I need is not available. Thanks anyway Matt.
