It's amazing how much of a compelling character Inno is despite never having any actual appearances, and she only communicates through snippets of song. It really goes to show how much skill went into curating Voidmall as an experience. All this to say that occasionally I'll load up the map again and just hang out in the mall for while. I don't want Inno to feel alone
This song is her experience, in the same sound, she sings to the player, she sings to "Sun" and even to herself, now the player just needs to know how to interpret it. and thanks for the comment, it means a lot to me 💕
I like to think Inno started singing in happiness because someone arrived, but as time goes on, she realizes you’re trying to leave, but is trying to get you to stay anyways. But, she either can’t get you to, or can’t bring herself to keep you here. So, Inno finally leaves the keys on the bathroom sink. Her last verse is sad, disappointed that you’re leaving her. Leave me alone makes it sound like this is always the outcome and you aren’t the first visitor and she’s sad because you’re just like the others.
@@mrscruffles801 Are you sure you’d starve? It sounds like this might not be our reality. Who knows how time and all that works in the Nowhere Mall. What likely happened is that the player stepped through a door that didn’t exist before and they basically ended up in the backrooms.
If I were actually in the void mall, I'd sit down by one of her cutouts and listen to the silence. She's alive and self aware but all she has is cripling lonelyness.

I have always been very honest, both in my life, with my friendships, etc... with my work it would be no different I agree with you, AI content is controversial, due to its potential to "replace artists' work" I agree with this phrase, but I think differently, AI does not have the potential to create, only to replicate what we create... She can manipulate the mall and make objects appear I'm pretty sure she can materialize food. But I'd honestly prefer to have her as my personal void space exploration buddy rather than be confined in the mall.
Played though voidplaces and the mall and WOW I did NOT expect the creativity of the puzzles! I was also quite surprised to see a sentient character that isn't "Jimmy". (which is what I nicknamed the carboard cutout in voidplaces) It's a shame we have to dig deeper into downcorridors (or pink place depending on the route you take) so we are forced to leave her behind. (all the while she gets understandably pissed that we are leaving as the first contact in a long time) All in all I can't wait to see what lies in pink place or downcorridors!
(Spoilers for the map) Things we can infer about inno from the map: Inno clearly has a flair for the dramatic. She literally makes a concert hall with stage lights so she can have big dramantic goodbye scene for everyone passing through. Inno clearly understands human architecture to some degree. If she made the malls layout and style. Though her knowlege is only surface level. Like she knows people like pools, she knows people like malls, she knows peiple like grass and the blue sky. So she emulates it without knowong why we like those things. She also knows people dont like dark areas, which is why the undervelly of the mall is so unwelcoming. As she wants to deter people from the exit and from leaving. The moment during the map where you find her cardboard cutout Infront of the locked doors to the couch room. I think shes just playful challenging you to find a way to open the door for her. I think she is either locked out of that room or is pretending to be locked out as once you unlock the doors to the couch room she will appear on the portrait in the room with a rather happy expression. I think the couch room was her attempt to give you a "bedroom" in the mall. As the whole scenario gives me a "tada surprise! this is my gift to you!" Kinda vibe. So in summary we got a mischievous mall gremlin diva who has a flair for the dramatic with a heart of gold. Who also has abandonment issues that ks extenely desperate to keep someone around yet is trying to come off as confident and in control of the situation.

@@PnkBl4ck I can see it. Both are Lonely bubblegum gals. Though another character inno reminds me off is toriel from undertale. Not so much for physical similarities but for how there roles in there respective narratives are quite similar to one another. Both inno and toriel try to make safe places for humans in hostile environments. While toriel is the guardian of the ruins that keep humans from entering the underground. Inno acts in a similar way. Trying to guide people to her mall from the voidplaces map. Inno's mall whether or not intentionally acts as a sort of safe tutorial to exploring and navigating the other areas of void spaces Inno and toriel both have the intention to shield you from the outside world and to take care of you to some degree. But both of them eventually relent and let the human go. Letting the human go forward to find there own ways home. That's probably another reason why the community likes inno as she is the only entity so far to interact so directly with the player in a benevolent manner. She at the very least is more welcoming than that fnaf endoskeleton looking guy from pink place. Lol Thanks for commenting though. I love this song so much because it just adds to the mall in so many ways. At first it's just background noise, but soon, when you start realizing Inno is an actual person, you hear the words, and actually start to make sense of them, and then it's like an 'OOOOHHHH' moment. Absolutely amazing design. This is an instance that I feel that ai was used in a good way. And, since it was made with ai, it really fits the liminal theme, because it feels vaguely nonsensical. Honestly, I think you're up there in my "Favorite artist/inspirations" list. Was Inno's design ai generated as well, or did you make her on her own? She has a really good design imo. Inno was made by me, it was part of another project I was creating! like I needed a "mascot" or something. I reused her sprite. and it really worked. They really liked her character, that makes me very happy
I saw a couple videos from The Librarian of your work and God. Something just makes me adore the three entities in those two maps. Honestly? Voidplaces and Voidmall might just convince me to finally buy GMod. Ive seen good maps, but these two? Theyre just. Something else. I want to experience them for myself. Most maps are cool, but thats it - once you watch someone play it, youve got the experience. But no, your maps...theres some sort of yearning to explore the endless halls of Voidplaces and the neon corridors of Voidmall. I cant get it out of my head. And really, seeing your maps yesterday was the best possible way to spend my day. I had to force myself to not take my adhd meds, which meant id be gloomy and just. Irreparably bored. I ever since I became familiar with the concept of genius loci or the *soul* of a place that allows for that place to have a mind on its own way despite lacking the usual element we would asssosiate with sapience(such as a organic physical body) and can be many things for example towers, houses, hotels, mansions, etc) cities, and at their most powerful, can range to an entire planet due to them not possesses any size limits that are usually associated with organic life as we know it I believe the genus loci of the nowhere mall is inno, and due to her nature as a very liked mascot the genus locrum ended up taking much of her personality and mannerisms wile it was gaining its own individuality with the og inno as a template,It may have awoken its sapience when the pink sun started to shine upon it or when it was an regular mall in its home dimension it slowly started to develop her one sense of self and this process continues wile the mall is in a black void being illuminated by a pink *thing* Inno is a relatively young genius loci and due to this she has some difficulty’s in interacting with other beings she may want to have as company Such as being able to produce actual proper food due to not having the necessary knowledge to create the components that makes up food, the simpler innorganic items inside the mall are more easily to manipulate for inno because she has had since her construction such as walls the furnitures inside the mall pipes,glass,simple electrics systems such as the lights,signs, the vending machines, the tv computers and psa system/sound system are the more complex elements that inno had to deal with for her to communicate with the visitors to the nowhere mall such as this song that represents her feelings of meeting the player and being exited but as the player progresses trough the map she slowly comes to realize the player isn’t there to stay and is seeking a exit to this void they found themselves in and she gives the player the keys to the player so that they can leave when they wish to do so. Finally i can hear a more clear version of the song and understand the lyrics much better. and i'm not gonna lie, its actually quite catchy. I'm also quite impressed with the map itself(both detail and story-wise). it barely felt like i was playing Gmod anymore, and felt like a whole new game of its own. i'm looking forward to see what else you make in the future.

When I finally made the levelchange in gm_voidplaces work, I was absolutely STUNNED by the build-up to entering the mall and then Inno's presence all throughout the mall. I havent seen any maps with level changes in years, let alone this quality. Good job, pink black.
Most great horror maps and games have a segment that will stick with you for a long time. Somthing you will think back too even when it over. Never in my life did I think it would be a neon pink anime girl mascot for a shoping mall with banger tunes
Voidmall is my all time favourite Garry’s Mod map, the story, the vibes and the scenery are top notch. Inno speaking through music is absolutely awesome, the mall itself is beautiful. I revisit the map all the time, the care and effort put into it is evident. Keep up the awesome work man!

banger for an atmospheric map even its made by an AI, hopefully I get to know everything about Pink void ngl when I heard this for the first time and I thought its just some random music like the rest until I realized it feels like it communicates you whenever you go💀
It turned out pretty cool, right? I really wanted the music to be generic, like some pop or something that plays in shopping malls I'm not a music artist! and I was already dealing with the creation of assets and the map itself, learning something else to incorporate would be overwhelming. So, knowing this AI, I thought about exploring my weak point. and Inno, came at a good time, the songs would just be ambient. until I had the idea of her communicating in some way with the player and as it was an artificial intelligence, sometimes it really sounds "not human" (because it really isn't) which is perfect So I embraced the flaws, and let Inno exist

This series of maps is exactly what I was looking for. I love maps with the sole purpose of having you exploring AND giving you a goal with this exploration. On top of that, it has a story to give. I can’t wait to see what other named characters we’ll meet in the future!
I absolutely fell in love with Void Mall after watching The Librarian’s video on it. Towards the end with the revelation that Inno was reaching out to us through the song was such an inspiring and epic moment. I’m currently developing a game of my own and I’m wanting to add an area similar to some liminal space concepts. Would it be okay with you for me to use Inno and her story/emotion/concept as inspiration for this section? The story of the game is heavily inspired by lucid dreams and many of the sections are created through my own experiences with them. Void Mall and Inno fit perfectly in how one of these dreams would play out.

Yes, Inno's songs were generated with Suno Ai. The reason why this version is decent is because out of several versions, I separated the best ones and put them together into a whole song. taking into account what Inno is, and what her personality is

hey dude! your maps are awesome, it's genuinely one of the best gmod experiences i've had in a while. at the end of my exploration of pinkplace i was noclipping around and found a room that played audio from different youtubers playing the maps - including my favorite one, The Librarian! so cool to hear his voice put into the actual map. also i keep wondering what "now and heremore" means, it seems to be referring to a place? "at now and heremore" also would you be okay with sharing the audio file of the screechy announcement sound effect? i really like it and want to use it for a project. tysm for reading ❤

i have a question about Voidmall if you want to answer or give hints. my friend and I were snooping around and found a texture of Inno named "start2" that we could not figure out how to trigger. i wanted to know if it was like a scrapped texture or something in the map that we haven't found? (also my friend is Seven :P)
when I create things! I do it in a way that gives me several possibilities of use when I created Inno! it was a very simple concept actually, it was just to be a mascot for an event that took place a long time ago at this mall. As if she were a poster girl! So I created several "skins" with different expressions to test my events Time passed, I used an AI to make the Shopping song, and because the vocals were female, my friends associated it with her, so I made it cannon in a way Maybe in the future, I will use these different expressions, but nothing confirmed yet

I'd fund a non-AI revision. I understand *why* the use of generative AI was used, and I understand that most of the entertainment of this map comes mostly from the way it is made- the actual map itself is a wonderful little thing and had me curious and inquisitive of EVERYTHING the entire way through- grabbing my attention in a way it had not done before. I was a little disheartened to learn that this song wasn't actually made by anyone except AI. And I guess I get it. Making a song would take time, effort and maybe even skills the mapper doesn't have. So you'd need to kind of 'cut corners' where you could, to represent the idea you have in your head. But I'd probably chuck money towards their Patreon for a bit if they change it up, allowing actual talent- be it commissioned by some random person on fiverr or made by someone just as passionate about the map. I think it'd be worth it. Who knows- voidplaces could have it's own team, music and all. Though that boils down to the creator's choice.

oldspaces and voidspaces take place in the same universe. perhaps at a time when the anomaly was not so present. but in fact, it was beginning. in the trailer for gm_voidspaces, before the fast music starts, you can notice a hint of the new sun

Certainly, Inno's songs were an experiment that worked. I believe in inspiration and human works. For me, AI serves to support the creative mind (construction of ideas, etc...) being a normal guy, whose only skills are level design, and creating textures... learning more skills is somewhat complicated. Not impossible, but complicated. I really admire solo devs who can do a little bit of everything. Inno was a happy accident, in my view! I really thought people wouldn't like the idea, especially seeing that the songs are made by an AI... no matter how much I write them, the biggest work (in the songs) still comes from the AI. @@lukmort well it was after I entered a set of doors not accessible through voidmall normally located in the pool area. If you no clip around you'll see white hallways that lead to poolrooms. Don't go in but instead follow them to a tubular corridor and even further back and then walk through it normally.
In fact, there is a connection! oldspaces and voidspaces, it's basically a few days before the anomalies start to get stronger... if you watch the voidspaces trailer, there's a part where a pink light starts to take over the scene... it's the beginning

I like to think Inno started singing in happiness because someone arrived, but as time goes on, she realizes you’re trying to leave, but is trying to get you to stay anyways. But, she either can’t get you to, or can’t bring herself to keep you here. So, Inno finally leaves the keys on the bathroom sink. Her last verse is sad, disappointed that you’re leaving her. Leave me alone makes it sound like this is always the outcome and you aren’t the first visitor and she’s sad because you’re just like the others.

What likely happened is that the player stepped through a door that didn’t exist before and they basically ended up in the backrooms.

Can't believe voidmall came out 7 months ago, it is such a great map.
If I were actually in the void mall, I'd sit down by one of her cutouts and listen to the silence. She's alive and self aware but all she has is cripling lonelyness.

I heard this song in The Librarians video on the voidmall and I HAD to find it. It's also fitting how nostalgic this song makes me feel. Reminds me of chilling in TF2 Trade Lobbies making friends and finding hidden secrets on the map.

Played though voidplaces and the mall and WOW I did NOT expect the creativity of the puzzles! I was also quite surprised to see a sentient character that isn't "Jimmy". (which is what I nicknamed the carboard cutout in voidplaces) It's a shame we have to dig deeper into downcorridors (or pink place depending on the route you take) so we are forced to leave her behind. (all the while she gets understandably pissed that we are leaving as the first contact in a long time) All in all I can't wait to see what lies in pink place or downcorridors!

Things we can infer about inno from the map:
Inno clearly has a flair for the dramatic.
She literally makes a concert hall with stage lights so she can have big dramantic goodbye scene for everyone passing through.
Inno clearly understands human architecture to some degree. If she made the malls layout and style. Though her knowlege is only surface level. Like she knows people like pools, she knows people like malls, she knows peiple like grass and the blue sky. So she emulates it without knowong why we like those things. She also knows people dont like dark areas, which is why the undervelly of the mall is so unwelcoming. As she wants to deter people from the exit and from leaving.
The moment during the map where you find her cardboard cutout Infront of the locked doors to the couch room. I think shes just playful challenging you to find a way to open the door for her. I think she is either locked out of that room or is pretending to be locked out as once you unlock the doors to the couch room she will appear on the portrait in the room with a rather happy expression. I think the couch room was her attempt to give you a "bedroom" in the mall. As the whole scenario gives me a "tada surprise! this is my gift to you!" Kinda vibe.
So in summary we got a mischievous mall gremlin diva who has a flair for the dramatic with a heart of gold. Who also has abandonment issues that ks extenely desperate to keep someone around yet is trying to come off as confident and in control of the situation.

Though another character inno reminds me off is toriel from undertale. Not so much for physical similarities but for how there roles in there respective narratives are quite similar to one another.
Both inno and toriel try to make safe places for humans in hostile environments. While toriel is the guardian of the ruins that keep humans from entering the underground.
Inno acts in a similar way. Trying to guide people to her mall from the voidplaces map.
Inno's mall whether or not intentionally acts as a sort of safe tutorial to exploring and navigating the other areas of void spaces
Inno and toriel both have the intention to shield you from the outside world and to take care of you to some degree.
But both of them eventually relent and let the human go. Letting the human go forward to find there own ways home.
That's probably another reason why the community likes inno as she is the only entity so far to interact so directly with the player in a benevolent manner.
She at the very least is more welcoming than that fnaf endoskeleton looking guy from pink place. Lol

I love this song so much because it just adds to the mall in so many ways.
At first it's just background noise, but soon, when you start realizing Inno is an actual person, you hear the words, and actually start to make sense of them, and then it's like an 'OOOOHHHH' moment. Absolutely amazing design.

Inno was made by me, it was part of another project I was creating! like I needed a "mascot" or something. I reused her sprite. and it really worked. They really liked her character, that makes me very happy

I saw a couple videos from The Librarian of your work and God. Something just makes me adore the three entities in those two maps. Honestly? Voidplaces and Voidmall might just convince me to finally buy GMod. Ive seen good maps, but these two? Theyre just. Something else. I want to experience them for myself. Most maps are cool, but thats it - once you watch someone play it, youve got the experience. But no, your maps...theres some sort of yearning to explore the endless halls of Voidplaces and the neon corridors of Voidmall. I cant get it out of my head.
And really, seeing your maps yesterday was the best possible way to spend my day. I had to force myself to not take my adhd meds, which meant id be gloomy and just. Irreparably bored. But then i found those videos, and then this song/channel!! And suddenly everything was okay again!! Im just. I just wanna say thank you for creating these cool maps. I believe the genus loci of the nowhere mall is inno, and due to her nature as a very liked mascot the genus locrum ended up taking much of her personality and mannerisms
wile it was gaining its own individuality with the og inno as a template,It may have awoken its sapience when the pink sun started to shine upon it or when it was an regular mall in its home dimension it slowly started to develop her one sense of self and this process continues wile the mall is in a black void being illuminated by a pink *thing*

Finally i can hear a more clear version of the song and understand the lyrics much better. and i'm not gonna lie, its actually quite catchy.
I'm also quite impressed with the map itself(both detail and story-wise). it barely felt like i was playing Gmod anymore, and felt like a whole new game of its own. i'm looking forward to see what else you make in the future.

When I finally made the levelchange in gm_voidplaces work, I was absolutely STUNNED by the build-up to entering the mall and then Inno's presence all throughout the mall. I havent seen any maps with level changes in years, let alone this quality. Good job, pink black.

Voidmall is my all time favourite Garry’s Mod map, the story, the vibes and the scenery are top notch. Inno speaking through music is absolutely awesome, the mall itself is beautiful. I revisit the map all the time, the care and effort put into it is evident. Keep up the awesome work man!

I'm not a music artist! and I was already dealing with the creation of assets and the map itself, learning something else to incorporate would be overwhelming.
So, knowing this AI, I thought about exploring my weak point.
and Inno, came at a good time, the songs would just be ambient. until I had the idea of her communicating in some way with the player
and as it was an artificial intelligence, sometimes it really sounds "not human" (because it really isn't) which is perfect

This series of maps is exactly what I was looking for.
I love maps with the sole purpose of having you exploring AND giving you a goal with this exploration.
On top of that, it has a story to give.
I can’t wait to see what other named characters we’ll meet in the future!
I absolutely fell in love with Void Mall after watching The Librarian’s video on it. Towards the end with the revelation that Inno was reaching out to us through the song was such an inspiring and epic moment. I’m currently developing a game of my own and I’m wanting to add an area similar to some liminal space concepts. Would it be okay with you for me to use Inno and her story/emotion/concept as inspiration for this section? The story of the game is heavily inspired by lucid dreams and many of the sections are created through my own experiences with them. Void Mall and Inno fit perfectly in how one of these dreams would play out.

"at now and heremore"

i have a question about Voidmall if you want to answer or give hints. my friend and I were snooping around and found a texture of Inno named "start2" that we could not figure out how to trigger. i wanted to know if it was like a scrapped texture or something in the map that we haven't found? (also my friend is Seven :P)
when I create things! I do it in a way that gives me several possibilities of use
when I created Inno! it was a very simple concept actually, it was just to be a mascot for an event that took place a long time ago at this mall. As if she were a poster girl!
So I created several "skins" with different expressions to test my events
Time passed, I used an AI to make the Shopping song, and because the vocals were female, my friends associated it with her, so I made it cannon in a way
Maybe in the future, I will use these different expressions, but nothing confirmed yet

I understand *why* the use of generative AI was used, and I understand that most of the entertainment of this map comes mostly from the way it is made- the actual map itself is a wonderful little thing and had me curious and inquisitive of EVERYTHING the entire way through- grabbing my attention in a way it had not done before.
I was a little disheartened to learn that this song wasn't actually made by anyone except AI. And I guess I get it. Making a song would take time, effort and maybe even skills the mapper doesn't have. So you'd need to kind of 'cut corners' where you could, to represent the idea you have in your head.
But I'd probably chuck money towards their Patreon for a bit if they change it up, allowing actual talent- be it commissioned by some random person on fiverr or made by someone just as passionate about the map. I think it'd be worth it. Who knows- voidplaces could have it's own team, music and all. Though that boils down to the creator's choice.
Depending on P'nk's decision, it might be me redoing the song without AI. Which I'm down with 😊

Certainly, Inno's songs were an experiment that worked.
I believe in inspiration and human works. For me, AI serves to support the creative mind (construction of ideas, etc...)
being a normal guy, whose only skills are level design, and creating textures... learning more skills is somewhat complicated. Not impossible, but complicated.
I really admire solo devs who can do a little bit of everything.
Inno was a happy accident, in my view! I really thought people wouldn't like the idea, especially seeing that the songs are made by an AI... no matter how much I write them, the biggest work (in the songs) still comes from the AI.
And yes, eventually I would love to do the original version of these songs

@@lukmort well it was after I entered a set of doors not accessible through voidmall normally located in the pool area. If you no clip around you'll see white hallways that lead to poolrooms. Don't go in but instead follow them to a tubular corridor and even further back and then walk through it normally.
