My mother also just got diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer and is going through radiation for brain mets. I just wanted to say thank you for putting these vlogs out there, and keep up the fight!
Don't mean to say anything negative about your partner's advice, but I was told by my oncologist at a big research hospital to absolutely avoid any form of extra antioxidants (while on chemo and radiation this last summer), because chemo and radiation puts your cancer cells under oxidative stress to kill them off, and antioxidants basically counters the effect. Numerous studies show this too. I am sure both fruits and vegetables are okay in moderation, but no extra supplements. I was also told to eat whatever I want/crave and to add more fats and butter into my diet, to prevent losing any weight while on chemo. They want you stable in weight and to keep you strong enough for the treatments. Wishing you the very best of luck!
That's interesting. Supporting the body vs. letting treatments kill...is a balance. Don't want more cancer cell growth though from crappy carb-heavy diet w/ lots of sugar though...cancer cells uptake sugar 12x the rate of non cancerous cells. Hence the PET scan radioactive glucose tracer test. Hello, Great news to hear your cancer is treatable. Can you join the ACA health care which will accept you even with pre-existing condition?
No he can’t. January 15, 2024 was the last day of 2024 open enrollment for the ACA. There are a few situations that allow you to be eligible to sign up after January 15, but getting a medical diagnosis is not one of them. The reason is that if people can buy insurance just when they get sick, only sick people will buy insurance and the insurance companies will not make enough money in premiums to cover what they have to pay out.
@@DallasNatureLover Thanks. I forgot.
@@janendungu8429 I only know because I had to use the ACA during this open enrollment period to get medical insurance for myself!
You should listen to her more, eat healthier and I hope you beat cancer
Well well! I would love to know how they can "switch off" the cancer, that's quite unheard of.
Crowdfunding healthcare is the new normal.

Why exactly will the state Medicaid system not cover this?
It's not that they won't cover treatments; it's that they won't cover him as an individual. The state has determined that he doesn't qualify for Medicaid.
