There's something wrong with this Squier Strat-o-Sonic...

- Of all the Squier Paranormal guitars released this year, I was most excited for the Strat-o-Sonic. But there was something...wrong with the one I got to play. Does it get resolved by the end of the video? Only one way to find out.

Glad you figured it out. I have one in the yellow color. It's sassy! I haven't noticed a rattle on mine, but now I have to go check, lol.
Sounds great on the higher gain! My Marshall and it would get along nicely!
Had to pause the video to check that rattle on mine, and didn’t have that issue. Glad you were able to figure it out though.
In case you didn’t know, you can get some extra tones via push/pull on the knobs. This guitar has a pretty wide variety of tones.
I was so distracted by the rattle that I totally forgot about the push/pull TBH. Glad you don't have that issue-I'm sure you would have noticed that. Personally, if this was mine, I'd take of the guard and file it back just a bit to keep it from happening again. It's just placed too close .
oh snap. I completely missed the push pull pots on mine. It's like I have a whole new guitar again.
I just bought one. Love the neck, stays in tune, and sounds pretty good although I may upgrade the pups. No rattle on mine
Similar issue with mine with the b string. Found the wire wraps from the ball were on the compensated bridge. Pushed them down and gone.
Thanks for the honest review. Sad the rattle put you off covering other aspects. Good reason to do it again (providing you like the guitar). Agree, if I owned it, I'll get the file to it.
I love my mustang micro. It's a fantastic little thing. And thanks for leaving in all the bits other TH-camrs might edit out. I'm really interested to try this guitar out now. Sounds gnarly.

I had a rattle on my Squier Offset Tele, turns out it was a slightly loose part in one of the cheap tuners - I switched them out for American Professional tuners. Not quite a drop in replacement but it fixed the issue and it plays even better now
Upgraded tuning machines is almost always a good call

In your defense, the Epiphones you mentioned were, in fact, their take on the Les Paul Junior and Special.
I pre-ordered the Strat-o-Sonic from Sweetwater and it was delivered two weeks ago. The string tree popped off the first day. The screw broke off in the headstock. But the bigger issue is that the bridge P-90 was stripped out on arrival and no sound comes from that pup. So much for that 55 point inspection... Anyway Ill fix it myself. I ordered a Tonerider P90 to replace the faulty stock pup. I like the look but super shitty QC for a $450 guitar.
Ooof that's rough. I thought they did that inspection on all guitars over $400 but maybe they've changed that. Personally, I'd return it with those issues.

Love the look, and am tempted but think it’s is probably too much like my epiphone Wilshire which is the most fun guitar to play
My first offset a couple of months ago was a 2012 Fender Blacktop Jaguar 90 and is my first p90 guitar too and can 100% recommend one Not the newest model but mine's in great shape and plays like a dream .24 in scale but soon adjust to it .
Fret issue possibly. Take a fret rocker across the frets and see which one is buzzing out. It will need to be filed down and re dressed. I can hear it as you play

If it was a plain maple neck I’d probably get one.

I have one and I love it. I can’t hear the rattle.
There's only one or two parts you'd be able to hear it, but since my lav mic is the only one in the room, it didn't really pick it up
Those pickups sound better thru a tube amp btw, without a lot of distortion added.

I just received my new Stratosonic In translucent BLUE. It is a limited edition ordered direct from the fender website. It was 20% off and arrived in 4 days. It is a beautiful instrument and has the best fit and finish I have ever seen on a Squier that did not come from Japan.

It's a great guitar - mine is fantastic. Have 28 guitars - Gibson, Fenders, PRs, Gretsch. Much to compare to. The StratoSonic is great . Gotta be fair about this! Tuner rattle is no big deal. Switch them out.

THOSE GUITAR HAS RATTLING IN THE TUNERS!!
I thought I was a having a stroke when I saw this. I have the Fender version from the American Special Series. It's a great guitar. I hope the squire's can live up. The tail-piece on mine is undeniably good. It adds a little something to the guitar. Every time I pick it up I'm surprised by how much the neck vibrates in my hand. It's really resonant and sustains forever. I don't know if the chambered body is a factor as well but I really feel like that tailpiece has a lot to do with it. A squire Jagmaster knocked my Strat-O-Sonic from #1 to #2. If you look under the pickup there will be foam and springs if it's set up the same. You could probably nudge it around a bit to keep it from shifting over against the pick guard again.
Also, I think your fly is unzipped. Happens to the best of us.

Yeah, I ducked my mic while the guitar is playing in MOST of the demo (no one wants to hear the pick slap the strings or my breathing) but there are a few parts where I do the opposite. It's not as obvious, I think because the mic is pointing up towards me, but in the room it was AWFUL.

We've learnt two additional things from your video:
Recording and mic techniques can be used to improve the sound of an instrument and that "repairs" to an instrument needn't be huge problem sent off to a luthier, sometimes we can try the basic obvious things first😉
Oh yeah 100% check anything you're sure you could fix yourself before paying someone. And direct recording guitars pretty much eliminates any in-room sounds that aren't transmitted through the pickups. It's wild how loud it was in the room vs. quiet in the video, but Jo and I both heard it.

The guitar needs fret work. The buzz is coming from high frets. Frets need to be leveled, crowned, and dressed.
It was not coming from the frets
Just returned mine. Could not get what I wanted out of it. Those are NOT true P90's. The neck feels good, the design is pretty, the knob options are interesting, but the price is way too high for what this thing does. It is tonally weak. Went with an Epiphone Wilshire P90.
