00:21 was talking about a mage though, and the novel clearly mentions that they are using magic to assist breathing and not get too cold when going too high. Although those mages were not high enough to need any of that. The com device is actually assisted by magic as well so it's not necessary visible outside of the gear they're wearing. The no helmet is a mystery though, although at the beginning of WW1, several armies, including the French side, had no helmets either. Besides, there's the fact that mages mostly protect themselves from bullet with magical shields that we see regularly. And that bullets /shells powerful enough to go through that would probably not get stopped by a mere helmet. I think they wear helmet in the novel despite that, but I can see why some would just ignore that protection.

But when your magic shield can t stop the bullet it might be slowed so the helmet might help. but for the anime they seem to have changed thing probably to be more ... idk mass compatible, show faces characters and such?! screw up Vishas look completly because they can ...

Not quite. This takes place on an alternate Earth in the 1920's where alternate versions of WW1's players fight in a more brutal version of WW1 with more advanced technology and have magical powers that they use in battle and for civilian purposes. The Empire that Tanya /the main character/ is a part of for example is a fusion of Imperial Germany and Austria-Hungary unified in a single superstate that Europe's other nations fear and have attacked to destroy it. The Empire isn't evil and it's shown repeatedly that they try to follow the rules of war as best they can. They DO counterinvade enemy nations but only as a means to end the war and plan to pull out of the nations that they beat once the war ends and after securing peace treaties with their beaten foes that gets the Empire concessions like colonies, some territory in Europe, wealth and resources, etc.
The type of planes you see in this video are based on real planes that were first deployed by France around 1925-1926 IIRC. in this alternate universe it's 1924 and they're deployed already, so some technology are not exactly happening at the same time. It's still technology from 1914->1930 with the addition of magical technology discovered not that long ago. They are fighting their own WW1 though, since in that alternate universe, WW1 didn't occur in 1914, but started around 1923 instead.
