The choreography really is wonderful. The whole ballet is good with some outstanding movements.I think that young people would really enjoy this production and could relate easily to the way the characters and situations are presented.

This clip is a small segment of the Youri Vamos production of Romeo & Juliet. The whole ballet consists of his unique choreographic vision and I really loved it - especially this wonderful Tango.

The whole ballet is very nicely done and has a relevance to young dancers today that older versions do not, IMO.

WOW! talk about a visionary re-working of the ballet! WOW! the choreography captures the violence and passion of the music in a way that other choreographies that i have seen do not. this is amazing!

I love this version for so many reasons. I wish you could all see the full production. The choreography is refreshing and appropriate and the story seems more alive and meaningful - especially to young people.

You are very lucky! I wish someone in the US would do this version. I've seen many versions, including Pacific Northwest Ballet's new "modern" version, and Vamos' version is still my favorit "new" version (while Macmillan's is my favorite "classical" version).

I have always disliked ballroom dancing, at least the artificial, stilted style encouraged by ballroom competition, but that artificiality is here made into a virtue, conveying the rigidity of the violence-based culture that created these knights and their ladies. I must look more into Youri Vàmos.

So, does WA Ballet own the rights to this version (ie no other companies can perform Mr. Vamos' choreography? including the company featured in this video?) I always thought that when a choreographer mounted his work on a company, that the company had the right to continue performing the work if they desired!

I have no idea if the video is available or if it is being danced anywhere. I saw this in Slovenia and loved the production. You might try contacting the company. www.visitljubljana.com/en/visitors/things-to-do/art-and-culture/slovenian-national-opera-and-ballet-theatre-of-ljubljana/

I agree, kamatis78! That's why I posted this. The whole production is wonderful in a new way. I think that if this production could come to the US, that it would really capture young audiences who are bored by staid, story ballets.
