Cobb -Webb attack was brutal on any team charged with trying to stop them.

I was at the Cotton Bowl...sitting in the end zone and told my buddy they need to give it to Webb on the left side..i no sooner got it outta my mouth and Webb took it around left end and scored the 80+ yard TD! 🧡🍊
That's a heck of memory to have! Webb was so special and wow in that game he was took it to another level!

It’s crazy to think that Travis Henry, Jamaal Lewis, and Travis Stephens were all in the running back’s room at the same time.
And add Shawn Bryson as fullback…LOADED!
Trust me, I remember because I'm a Gator. We remember that nightmare, LOL

I agree with your list. I was afraid that Garner would be overlooked but y'all nailed it.
Kinda under appreciated by some but he was a stud! He would be amazing in this offense imo!

@@spencerwarren9219 to me after Lewis and Webb it gets tough loved Cobb and Stewart he was under appreciated by many, had a heck of pro career and one of the best at the goaline.
Jalen Hurd has to be on my list. Im too young to remember a lot of these guys, but Hurd played for a terrible coach and left a year early and was still only a couple games away from breaking the rushing record. He would have shattered it by the end of his 4th year.
Hurd was a great athlete that imo was under appreciated. Would have loved to see him in a more traditional offense/better coach. Also wonder if he could have made it big at wr or Te..
@The_Vol4Life_Podcast ditto. Imo his mindset was to be the battering-ram.. the dog in him is why he was a true tail-back. Couldn't agree more that he is/was under appreciated and Alvin Kamara is the main reason! AK was also worthy of a top 4 TN RB!
I love this list! Just subbed. The only one I would change is Chuck Webb because I didn't get to watch him play. I started watching around Andy Kelly's last year, the Heath Shuler era.

Thanks for the sub, we definitely appreciate that. Stephens had such a great year but i think Little Man in particular just doesn't get the credit he deserves. Was underrated coming out of Motown West, underrated coming out of UT and i feel a lot of people don't realize how successful he was in the NFL.

@Chatsworth1979 that's fair. I've heard others mention Watson but he was before my time. It's a shame games back then aren't around so much today to go back and watch
I think Webb and Lewis are pretty clearly the top 2 of the modern era…. Probably could make an argument for Garner, Henry, Cobb, or several others… Majors and Fulmer had several great backs
We had a decade or so of incredible riches! To think of some of the third stringers on those teams or guys like Shawn Bryson getting moved to fullback showed just how great that position group was during that time frame

Richmond Flowers from the 1960's was one of our first after the single wing I think. But he was not a great shifty runner. He was also only a running back for one year and not all that year. He was just speed and ended up being defensive back in the pros.
The Cobb and Webb combination was amazing. '
My favorite all around player of all times was Bobby Majors..
We had an unbelievable run of great backs for a decade or better starting with the CobbWebb 😊

Amen on Chuck Webb! Johnny Majors said it was like he was full of electricity and he shocked them!!! I was in the stands when Jamal went down at Auburn with his knee. He tried to come back in during the second half but couldn’t go!!! Love your picks 👏👏👏

Definitely do! Had to put a couple of his classic Bama runs in the latter part of the video…. Listening to John Ward describe his runs were a highlight of my youth!

I have no problem with your top 4 but I'll always take Travis Henry over Jamal Lewis simply because Travis outworked Jamal day in day out. Jamal was the physical specimen with all the intangibles but yet in the end both at Tennessee and in the pro's, Travis out shined him, and I believe it was all about work ethic. Travis wasn't going to be out worked and Jamal didn't think he had to work that hard. I've also always heard that Travis Cozart was maybe the best athlete we ever had over there not named Dale Carter. Then you mentioned Carl Pickens being the best dB over there while he was at Tennessee. I was told by someone who was there everyday with those guys, that Dale Carter and Carl Pickens went head to head everyday in practice and Carl never once got the better of Dale Carter. I was also told that their competition level was so high that they fist fought daily in practice.
@greggmcmahan972 interesting. Travis Cozart was recruited by many big schools as a DB as well as TB.. obviously he is/was a very gifted athlete. Made poor choices as a young man, but today is a good man. Stinks thinking about what might have been... I'm from Lenoir City. From what I'm told as a true freshman TC outshined Jay Graham in the Orange and White game.. supposedly would have taken the upperclassmen's job
Of the backs I've seen, I'll say...1 Jamal Lewis 2 Charlie Garner 3 Chuck Webb 4 Reggie Cobb 5 Jalen Hurd....Charlie Garner would be first if he didn't split carries with Little Man and Hayden.
@BigRW not a bad list at all. Garner was special! When you see his highlights and look at his stats, it's like wow this guy was on another level than Little man and little man was pretty dang good!

In that short time frame, we had some of the best guys we’ve ever had on the Hill. We did one video on the 4 best WR’s and of course Pickens is on that one and just did a Safety video that obviously had Carter. Those were fun times
We have had many greats here at UT like the reveran Randy White, Eric Berry snd we where know as wide receiver U line backer U Lol but real good ones will come along like they always do.

You Vols people just don't get it. You guys have had so many great RBs that it honestly boggles my mind. As a Gator fan, I can just about tell you guys, the experts, about your RBs. Tennessee gets no credit for the products of players they have turned out over the last 30 to 35 years. Its unreal. Tennessee has been a place for RBs, Receivers, Defensive Ends, Olinemen, TEs, and DBs.
Eventhough Im a lifelong Florida born Gator for life, Im 50 now, so it had become more of an appreciation.
And Butch Jones, if you are reading this, you would still have your job at UT and you could have been one of the greatest coaches in UT history, but you didnt listen to me. You have barnone the best player in all of college ball and you didn't give him the ball. Who? Some you might ask, and if you are asking, then, this is exactly why UT has struggled, yet having some of the most talented teams. Its ridiculous. Freaking Alvin Kamara would have broken so many records, its ridiculous. If Fulmer or Johnny Major would have had Kamara. Oh, my goodness, help us all.
Sorry about rambling guys, but although I am Florida Boy that's a Gator to the bone, Tennessee is where I now lay my head and it is the place I am proud to call home.
I tell you one thing thats not up for debate. Who has the best and most beautiful women? That there is Tennessee. If you don't have a Tennessee Wife, then I don't know what to tell you. Great channel, great show. Thank you and God Bless. GO Gators

Jones not playing Kamara was a head scratcher for sue, had the keys to a Ferrari and kept it locked up in the garage.

Travis Henry, that fourth quarter against Arkansas was superhuman, he kept the championship hopes alive. 4:21 kept the national championship

@@The_Vol4Life_Podcast few years back he came to a game and hung out at our tailgate …super nice man and he stay with talking football late after the game was over . We watched other games and all that but we also got to hear stories about his playing days

The greatest that I ever personally saw play😂 back in 1933 was our only Heisman Trophy winner, Beattie Feathers. Well, he's the consensus pick for who would have won if they had the award in 1933. 😂

UT’s greatest, all-time RB was the late Andy Kozar.
Very accomplished man after football as well. Wish we had better film of some of the legendary vol players like him and so many others.

They absolutely did! The amount of talent in the backfield on some of teams were unreal. If the portal was around back then it would be hard to keep these guys around

@The_Vol4Life_Podcast I thought JM played at Pitt. And was 2nd in the Heisman award behind the winner -Steve Spurriur.. SS is a Tennessee native.. Science Hill?
@@AustinVARNER-w6o JM played at UT and was 2nd in heisman to Paul Horning. JM coached at Pitt and won a championship before coming to UT

Ok. I have my opinions on QBs and RBs, but what makes me reply here is the absolute Inability of Butch Jones to recognize and promote talent. Absolutely unbelievable how bad he was at UT. He makes the top for worst head coach ever imo.
Butch has mismanaged some talent in his career for sure lol, just ask J J WATT
