    You are building a nice and useful tool tote. I, too, use my totes and boxes for shop storage, primarily. If I need a specific collection of tools for an off-site job, then I just put what I need into a plastic laundry basket and put that into the back of my truck. Good to go. 👍👍

      Yep, storage and sorting mostly. Fun to make and useful to have. Thanks Jerry.

    Great tip on using wooden parallel clamps to function as a Moron Vise. Very useful to woodworkers with small shops. A Regular Moxon Vise takes up quite a bit of space. Thank you, Ken.

    I am in much the same position as you with inexperience with the spokeshave.
    One thing I learned is that it is easy to lessen or lengthen the exposed blade with the two adjustors. There is some backlash, much like the adjustment wheel on a plane.
    The other thing is to grip it more lightly. And you can always skew the sole on the wood to get a better cut if it's fighting you.
    Well done video and project start. Thanks, and good to see you again.

      Yes, definitely a learning curve, but I'm getting the hang of it. Thanks for the visit.

      @@treebangham Yes, Ken, and I can only agree that the wooden clamps are amazing. I have two (a big and a smallish) but could certainly use a couple more! Great thinking using them like a Moxon. I intend to make a Moxon at some point, but you gave me pause there for a second. However, I want it to be the front of a small, squarish workbench to put on top of my proper workbench. I just need to finished my proper workbench first 😄 (By the way, great to see a new video from you!)

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Thomas. You'll find many uses for those clamps, I have three pairs in different sizes and use them all the time. Good luck with your workbench.

    Good to see you both contributing to the TH-cam library once again!
    Ken, what will the weight of the tote be when it’s finished? My similar sized (ugly plastic) box weighs very little on its own but soon gets very heavy when I load it up with tools for a job, not sure if I’d be able to easily carry a solid wooden one…but am tempted to try!

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael. The parts for my cherry tray weight in at about 4 pounds. My pine and chestnut trays are a few ounces less. If I need to carry more tools, I use my larger Japanese tool boxes. Ha! This coming from a guy that does almost all of his woodworking in his workshop and rarely needs to transport his tools. Regards.

    Really enjoying this series. Very clever curve trick! Would you mind providing a link to the rasps you're using?

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jason. The first file is a replacement blade for a Shinto Planer Saw Rasp. It doesn’t have a handle, I just clamp it with a small pair of vise grips. It has a coarse side and a medium side.
      The other file is an Iwasaki 200mm Half-Round Fine Cut File. It’s sharp, cuts fast and doesn’t clog much. Thanks for the visit.

    Looking good. Out of curiosity, what software do you use to edit your videos? My wife encouraged me to film my current project just to see if I like filming it. I've just been using an iPhone with 30 FPS in 4K. Not sure how complicated it is to edit a video. Many thanks.

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe. I use Corel VideoStudio 2019, but there are lots for free programs you can try. My videos are low-tech…just cuts, dissolves and a simple title. I also speed up some of the footage when if gets repetitious. Even the simplest software has these functions. Give it a try and have some fun.

    • @joeleonetti8976
      @joeleonetti8976 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@treebangham Thanks. I am planning on keeping my low tech. Could you please mention a few names of the free software? I am completely clueless on this part. I will do voice over work similar to what Bourbon Moth on TH-cam does and the look will likely be closer to Frank's Workbench TH-cam videos. After this first "live action" video, I will likely do some slide presentation format videos. I take pictures and write a blog (Joe's Woodworking Journey). I don't mind taking photos. The video is a bit intrusive. Will have to see how things go. All good problems I suppose. Been keeping really busy in the workshop which is good. On my blog I created in upper right a "portfolio" of what I've made if you're curious. Sincerely, Joe.

      Hi Joe, I view your blog! Didn’t know you were “that” Joe. You do I nice job and I enjoy watching your progress on your projects. Keep them coming. As for free software, just google “free video editing software youtube reviews” and you’ll see lots of info. I can’t recommend any as they change from year to year and I’ve been using Corel all this time. Stay in touch.

    doesn't it feel more natural to pull on the spokeshave?

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good question. When I first began using a spokeshave, I pulled mostly. Now, I do both...whichever way feels right at the time. I honestly don't know why though.
