Is it truly the Siser Easyweed HTV? I would worry about the baking in the oven technique with Siser Easyweed HTV, but may be willing to try since I have an abundance of that brand vinyl in my stock pile. I would appreciate your thoughts and/or experiences on that!

Used Mod Podge to seal Cricut Permanent vinyl on Cricut brand mugs after watching several videos. It soon turned yellow and began to peel. I pulled everything off and switched to infusible ink with silicone wrap in oven which I like much better. Those who received the vinyl decal mugs swear they're holding up fine. I do microwave my 'cool' coffee sometimes for like 7-10 seconds. That may have been the reason the Mod Podge yellowed. Just know I would not use it again.
Thank you for the great info in this video! I have wondered what vinyl is best and I purchased Oracal 651 last to do a project on a truck window. This is a new adventure for me. Thanks again for the wonderful video and info!
Wonderful, wonderful! Your instructions are so clear, that I feel I can be successful on the first one I try. Sadly, no one in my family or among my close friends drink coffee. Could you add the words TEA and COCOA to the download? I can't wait to get started. Thanlk you!

for the iron-on vinyl, could i simply use the tumbler heat press? if so, what about time and temp? also, could i use printable vinyl so as to add a picture to a mug?
You can find more details on the blog post but we did not test a tumbler press. Only the Cricut mini press. jennifermaker.com/best-cricut-vinyl-for-coffee-mugs/
Glad to hear that! People can have the water temperature set real high and and drying temperature can also vary. Hand washing will extend the life of the glass.
Overall, for permanent vinyl, the Oracal 651 and HTVRONT were the best all-around. They cut and weeded well, and were easily applied to the mug. All of the mugs held up well in the wash test. The Everyday Iron-On is a more challenging technique but the results, especially with the added bake time, produced a solid result. While all the mugs held up in the top rack of the dishwasher, hand washing is recommended for the longest lasting result. Do not microwave mugs with vinyl designs. There are more details on the blog post. jennifermaker.com/best-cricut-vinyl-for-coffee-mugs/
My granddaughter is starting preschool. Is it possible to use the permanent vinyl on her plastic water bottles? I know the heat method will melt the plastic but will the non heat method work? Thanks for your invaluable videos. 😁
When it comes to choosing a mug for vinyl printing, not all ceramic mugs are created equal but you can use just regular mugs from Dollar Tree. The easiest type of mug to work with is one that has straight sides, as it allows the vinyl to adhere smoothly without creases. If you're just starting out, I recommend using a mug with straight sides. Mugs with gentle curves can also work, but they require a bit more skill to apply the vinyl without creases.
Thank you for this video, I bought the Cricut Joy, did the demonstration then scratched my head and put it away. The iron on transfer, I don’t have the small heat iron, would it work using a small travel iron at all?

@@JenniferMaker Gotcha! I always do, so I am sure that is a setting I would have to change. I will be honest, I have always handwashed my vinyl items, and that was actually the main reason I moved on to sublimation and etching. But again, really appreciate you testing this so we all don't have to!
Thank you for this video. Your videos are always SO inspiring! I do have the Cricut mug press and have used infusible ink to make mugs. I’m wondering if you can use the mug press to adhere the iron on vinyl?
Hello thank you for sharing this wonderful video. Question for you. Since the iron on vinyl set better with the oven, does that mean you can use your mug in the microwave to heat up water n such?? Is iron on vinyl microwave safe?
It is NOT recommended as vinyl can create fumes when heated. If you want a microwave-safe mug, use Infusible Ink/sublimation with the Cricut Mug Press or other mug press brand.

Hello, I recently got a scanncut and I'm doing my first vinyl application tests. I have always read in the various craft fb groups (Italian groups, I'm in Italy) that vinyl should be avoided for mugs because it is toxic and not being for food use it should not come into contact with the lips. Personalised mugs can be used for decorative use at most. I don't remember which vinyl brand was contacted asking for this specific thing and they confirmed. Since then I have always been terrified of making this type of mugs. Could you help me understand more and tell me if this is true or not? Thank you very much in advance
True, vinyl should not be put where your lips would touch it. That wouldn't be comfortable either. Do not put them in the microwave as the fumes is what is claimed to be toxic to breathe when heated and hand wash only.
Thank you for confirming! I think I will avoid doing this type of project. I've never heard anyone talk about this problem on youtube, and many people aren't aware of it.
Great video! What vinyl and setting would you recommend for small thin tiny lettering? I tried the washi tape setting and reverse weeding but still not able to get the letters weeded 😢. Thank you!
Tiny lettering is complicated. If Washington at more pressure does dot work you could go in and change it to two passes. Always do a test cut first to save vinyl.

Hello thank you for this video, very useful. Just a little question why is there a mug press if you don't need one?
The mug press is used for Infusible ink transfers or Sublimation. ❤️
I noticed you didn't use a mug press with the iron on. Is it because this is a much older video than indicated or that a mug press is not recommended?
The mug press is for sublimation and Cricut Infusible Ink, which is sublimation.
Is the permanent vinyl on a mug microwave safe, like if you wanted to warm up some coffee or something?
It is not recommended to use in the microwave and hand wash only for it to last longer.
Re-watching many of your tutorials. Did you try the mug press with the iron on vinyl on a mug?
No, iron-on vinyl does not go in a mug press.
Hello thank you for sharing this wonderful video. Question for you. Since the iron on vinyl set better with the oven, does that mean you can use your mug in the microwave to heat up water n such?? Is iron on vinyl microwave safe?
Items with vinyl should also not really be put in a microwave. Vinyl is PVC and when heated excessively can give off poisonous fumes.
Thank you so much for your time on answering my question. This really helps. ❤
Thank you so much. Always a pleasure to watch your demos. Question? Any of them goes in the microwave to warm up our coffee ?

Thank you for watching! 💗
Any experience with how vinyl holds up on a mug in the microwave?
I do not recommend putting vinyl in the microwave.
HI CAN I DO MOD PODGE ON A CLEAR GLASS MUG
You can but I really don't recommend it. You can just use permanent vinyl by itself and hand wash it.
Can these be put in a heat press?
That depends on which vinyl you are referring to. Here is the blog post for more details. jennifermaker.com/best-cricut-vinyl-for-coffee-mugs/
Can you use any mug or just the Cricut mug?
Any mug should work!🥰
@@JenniferMaker thank you
Could I use my hat press on the mug?
You could do that.
