    Follow up: One year later, with multiple top rack dishwasher cleanings each week, on the heat setting my mug looks like it did the first day I made it. I used the oracal 651 permanent vinyl. Thank you for this video.

    This video is great! I have never used Cricut vinyl products (I have a Silhouette Cameo 4) because I generally use Siser or Thermoflex. I am intrigued/obsessed by the mini heat press usage on the mug + baking technique! I have had reservations on making a mug because I am a practical mom who needs the dishwasher and I would hate the peel or fade factor to occur
    In your experience, is there a Siser equivalent to Cricut Everyday Iron On vinyl? Is it truly the Siser Easyweed HTV? I would worry about the baking in the oven technique with Siser Easyweed HTV, but may be willing to try since I have an abundance of that brand vinyl in my stock pile. I would appreciate your thoughts and/or experiences on that!

    Used Mod Podge to seal Cricut Permanent vinyl on Cricut brand mugs after watching several videos. It soon turned yellow and began to peel. I pulled everything off and switched to infusible ink with silicone wrap in oven which I like much better. Those who received the vinyl decal mugs swear they're holding up fine. I do microwave my 'cool' coffee sometimes for like 7-10 seconds. That may have been the reason the Mod Podge yellowed. Just know I would not use it again.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I do not recommend using Mod Podge over vinyl. People wanted a tutorial on it but I think the permanent vinyl holds up great all by itself.

    Which technique do you recommend takes the least time, but the effect is good and the inscription is not affected by normal dishwasher operation.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Overall, for permanent vinyl, the Oracal 651 and HTVRONT were the best all-around. They cut and weeded well, and were easily applied to the mug. All of the mugs held up well in the wash test.
      The Everyday Iron-On is a more challenging technique but the results, especially with the added bake time, produced a solid result.
      While all the mugs held up in the top rack of the dishwasher, hand washing is recommended for the longest lasting result.
      Do not microwave mugs with vinyl designs. There are more details on the blog post. jennifermaker.com/best-cricut-vinyl-for-coffee-mugs/

    hi ms. Jennifer is there specific type of mug that can be used for vinyl printing? or any ceramic mug will do?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When it comes to choosing a mug for vinyl printing, not all ceramic mugs are created equal but you can use just regular mugs from Dollar Tree. The easiest type of mug to work with is one that has straight sides, as it allows the vinyl to adhere smoothly without creases. If you're just starting out, I recommend using a mug with straight sides. Mugs with gentle curves can also work, but they require a bit more skill to apply the vinyl without creases.

However, if you are looking for a more permanent and potentially more durable option, laser engraving might be a better choice, although this is not explicitly covered in the provided context.

      That would be a challenge to use Infusible Ink on a mug with the mini press to get everything even.

    can you use the mug press on iron-on vinyl instead of putting the mugs in the overn?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, that is not recommended. It is not necessary to bake the iron-on.

  • @queendomzbowtique

    I am fairly new to all this but when you baked it does that give the coffee mug a feel as if the image is sublimated in or can you still feel the vinyl just wondering.. And, the others you can feel the vinyl right?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope, you can't feel anything once it's sublimated 🥰

    Hello, I recently got a scanncut and I'm doing my first vinyl application tests. I have always read in the various craft fb groups (Italian groups, I'm in Italy) that vinyl should be avoided for mugs because it is toxic and not being for food use it should not come into contact with the lips. Personalised mugs can be used for decorative use at most. I don't remember which vinyl brand was contacted asking for this specific thing and they confirmed. Since then I have always been terrified of making this type of mugs. Could you help me understand more and tell me if this is true or not? Thank you very much in advance

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      True, vinyl should not be put where your lips would touch it. That wouldn't be comfortable either. Do not put them in the microwave as the fumes is what is claimed to be toxic to breathe when heated and hand wash only.

    • @saral2067
      @saral2067 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for confirming! I think I will avoid doing this type of project. I've never heard anyone talk about this problem on youtube, and many people aren't aware of it.

      The Cricut Mug Press was designed for Infusible Ink sheets and not recommended with heat transfer vinyl although I have seen some hacks online.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tiny lettering is complicated. If Washington at more pressure does dot work you could go in and change it to two passes. Always do a test cut first to save vinyl.

I typed in what I wanted my project to say it design space and then I clicked make and it is set on joy and then I have a warning light that says " not supported by joy print then cut" I have no idea how that got put on there. Can you tell me how to turn off the print then cut there is no printer showing on the right hand side at all to click off. I just don't know what to do

      Design Space won't allow you to select Print then Cut on machines that don't have the feature. You can print the sublimation design outside of Design Space using Google Docs. jennifermaker.com/print-sublimation-designs-from-google-docs/
