Whisky.com tastes the Glen Breton 10 years. This is the special release that has been matured in ice wine casks. Ice wine is a very sweet wine that is being produced in a very special way.
The Glen Breton distillery has been established by people speaking the Gaelic language, probably Scottish.
    The nose:
Vanilla, a mixture of apple, pear and peaches. You also smell the grapes from the wine.
    The taste:
Some spiciness appearing, also some nuttiness. A lot more intense than the nose.
    The finish:
Long with oakiness of the cask.

The old world connection to Scotland is huge in cape breton whether it be the Gaelic dialect, cape breton fiddle music, dance, etc...no other place has the old world connection to Scotland outside of Scotland itself...

The biggest problem with Glen Breton is the price. It's good whiskey, but it's not better than many of the Scotch whiskeys you can get for half the price (even in Canada; you'd think a Canadian whiskey would be cheaper in Canada, but no).
I know they're a small distillery making small batches, so the price needs to be higher for them to earn money, but ... I don't know. For me, I would always buy something else I knew was good at a lower price point.

Always enjoy your review. Canadian whisky has a lot of potential - hopefully smaller distilleries like Glenora managed to build upon it.
