    Awesome video to start out my morning. Deb, the way you breakdown the skiing process is simply amazing. I am so glad I found your channel. Thanks😀

    I love the explanation between the toes and ankle flexion. This is important for turning as much as a solution to get out of the backseat 🎿

    I have been watching several videos that cover this topic. Deb has done and outstanding job on this one. I like her including the concept of shortening the inside led and the lifting of the toes when tipping the feet to increase edge angles. Love the that Deb explains everything in simple terms without using technical terms that some viewers may not understand. The visuals were great along with PJ’s and cat in the background. Please keep the presentations going. Great stuff!

    Another great video. My understanding is that the position Deb demonstrates with the coffee table (one leg up on it) is referred to as "vertical separation" (of the feet), which if then tipped over onto the snow *looks* like a "wide" stance but really isn't.

    I’ve watched countless ski videos, so I can get better. After I’d seen a few of your videos, I knew immediately that you’re the teacher for me. Your communication skills are priceless because your explanations compliment your skiing videos: something I didn’t get from the other you tube instructors. This is before I’ve discovered that you’re an Olympic GS champion.

    This was great. I learned about skiing with my feet and tipping from Harold Harb years ago, but this analysis is fantastic, clear, and concise. Thanks Deb. You have a new subscriber.

    I love this "family style" videos. By the way: the woman in the picture when talking about extreme angles is Daniela Ceccarelli.

    I have found your videos really helpful even though I'm a telemark skier. How would you adjust this particular advice specifically for telemark turns? Thanks!

    Brilliant! How much weight should be on the downhill ski versus the uphill ski? I'm assuming it differs depending on the conditions? So on hard, icy snow you want all your weight on the downhill ski? On powder you want 60%? On packed powder 80%? In moguls 90%? If you are racing on ice 100%? I have never raced so I have no idea how these amazing athletes are so magical.

      You are correct. It varies. On groomers the weight is primarily on the outside ski but the activity/movements of the inside leg is important.

    tiping movement i understand but the dorsi plantar flex movement are not clear, some teacher say to push down big toe during the apex for feel the tip of the ski, others say push up big toe for close ankle and feel the heel pressure during turn

    Hello Deb, I am now primarily interested in the inside ankle position as you develop really high edge angle. As you explain at min 1:20, the inside arch is splashing up the hill, this is how you start the edging process. Will this position of the ankle still be valid, as you progress into the turn and develop really high edge angle (short leg/long leg) and are about to touch the snow with the hip at the apex of the turn?

    • @DebArmstrongSkiStrong
      @DebArmstrongSkiStrong  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I understand, the point you describe in the turn requires massive power. Small articulation of the ankle wouldn't come into play as much as alignment through the outside leg and shortening the inside leg. Just my initial impression and thought.
