That is the assumption (not that exact quote but what Gojo said in JJK 0 to Yuta), but it wasn't explicitly confirmed as that.

He tried not to curse Geto so he said "We'll meet again" but he accidentally cursed Geto, they will meet again in Shibya, in a horrible way.
They also met at the airport

He said it instead of "I love you" because he believed it would curse Geto (he had seen Rika, who made by Yuta, who is Gojo’s relative; meaning there was a risk of Gojo making Geto into a curse like Riko)... Yet the words he chose, still cursed Geto.

tatsuya kitani did not write the song for JJK specifically, the song instead talks about his own experience with losing friends, grief, regret, and wanting to go back to simpler, happier times
The anime production team asked for specific tones in the song that the artist said were difficult to accommodate. The director also made notes about some of the first versions.

I'm not disagreeing that the song is written with those themes in mind. But it was for the anime.

What I meant is that the song was meant to be used in JJK, but Tatsuya Kitani wrote it as a very personal song, based on his own life and experiences. That's why I don't consider the song to be made specifically for JJK, as it exists within its own context if that makes sense.

The way I see it; the artist was such a fan of the manga that it's linked enough. He used his own life experiences to fuel the feelings to make them accurate/believable.

I have a feeling he said, “You were strong.” Which would not only be a very high compliment to Geto considering their rivalry as students, but it would also be a unique parallel between Gojo and Sukuna. The strongest sorcerers giving compliments to someone weaker than them at their moment of death.
But Sukuna says that because the only thing he cares about in a person is their strength and how much they can sate his appetite, no?

Their whole past was Gojo playing them off as “the strongest”, but the basketball scene showed that Gojo felt superior to Geto in both his morals and his strength. Geto realizes this too, especially after Amanai’s death and Gojo’s “enlightenment.” So I feel like Gojo saying that isn’t sadistic, but rather meant to be his form of compassion. To me it’s more fitting than him saying “I love you”.

If you’re saying him calling someone strong is out of character, you gotta remember that’s his former best friend from school. No amount of sorcerer craziness or superiority complex is gonna change that.
I think what Gojo said was something along the lines of “Shinyuu da yo” (you’re my best friend). He did say it to Yuta , that his best friend was the one who found it. But also it connects with what Geto said in Mimiko and Nanako’s flashback when they asked who Gojo Satoru was. Geto said “Shinyuu dattan da” (he was my best friend) Geto at that point had thought that he and Gojo were not friends anymore (from how he had explained it to the twins).
Narratively, it only makes sense that Gojo would correct that assumption Geto had (that they had stopped being friends that day.) Gojo say “you are my best friend” would have let Geto know that after everything Gojo hand never stopped thinking of him as his friend.

Its revealed in the opening of season 2. Ah man i love the op and ed. Opening is supposed to be gojo talking to geto and ed is geto talking to gojo.
I sadly don't really think the OP for hidden inventory was meant to be hard confirmation, more just Tatsuya Kitani giving his own personal interpretation

Remember all the art where gege draws gojo with one eye closed? Im the op / ed you can see this with gojo. There is absolutely no reason for the director or the anime staff to do that if gege didn't ask 💀 cuz they ain't writing the manga

The words were 100% “I love you” (romantically or platonically) because everything else wouldn’t have been necessary to mute out. You can’t convince me otherwise.
As always I appreciate your balanced analysis. I like how you present each bit of potential evidence and what's more or less speculative. I also like the note at the start about no toxicity and loving your friends. If I were Gojo talking to my one and only my friend at the end I would definitely say 'I love you'. Difficult to be sure what he actually said as you present some other compelling options. The issue with shonen is that it's stunted with regard to romance anywhere along the kinsey scale, yet our societies tend to privilege romantic love as being the highest form of love (I don't think it has to be), so I tend to find these weird dissonances in the story and especially the fan reaction with regard to the different relationships because nothing is ever clear and complete either way (aside from say Yuta). I found the same with stories like Naruto. While I think it's valid to have either interpretation, I personally value this relationship as intense but platonic and incredibly tragic.
I think "We'll meet again" works really well. In Shibuya when Kenjaku greets Gojo it twists those last words into something more akin to an actual curse. Geto literally became "cursed" with a literally curse taking over his body. This idea feeds back into Gojo's statement in JJK 0 that love was the most twisted curse of all.
“You’re still my one & only friend.” Has been fan canon for a while and the one I’m a huge fan of.
I genuinely believe that gojo's and geto's friendship is one of the best portrayals of friendship ever shown in an anime/manga

We’ll if we look at context, Yuta and Gojo are talking and Gojo gives Yuta’s ID and Yuta asked how he found it and Gojo said “Not me, my one and only best friend”
So it had to be something like that

I think the most likely headcannon for Gojo and Geto was they did have feelings for one another but couldn’t express that with words due to how words can curse one another and how Gojo was insecure and how Geto was duty first and all.
If you don’t think that, that’s cool but as folk for the LGBTQ community we got little to know representation in media so it’s nice to have characters we can see ourselves in.
I think it's pretty obvious that it was not romantic feelings. After gojo's death, both were having a talk at th airport and you can really see that the chats was pure bromance and really no tension in the air, all of the other people there chilling. And honestly after the hidden inventory arc, you can see how they both went for different missions and gojo wasn't really fazed with that, he had very minimal interactions with each other, but gojo was fine, and geto would've been too but sadly his views changed.
Knowing how easy-going gojo can be with critical information, i think he said " rest easy,bestie "

I think I love you fits especially with the theme of zero is love. Weather it was romantic or not it doesnt mater they had a close bond that those words would be fiting (also love/ like has alot of different words in Japanese so another reason it could fit.)

It was 100% calling him his one and only best friend. Geto called him his in the flashback to the two girls he saved talking with him at their cult compound.
In my head I feel like he said something like “I’ve missed you” or “I missed you”
I’d say it was “I love you”, since as far as I remember “I’ll miss you” and “Will we meet again” were never said in Jjk0, but Yuta had said “I love you” to rika, and considering Jjk0 was written originally as a stand alone story, Gojo’s and Geto’s roles very clearly are meant to be parallels to Yuta and Rika, Yuta is even revealed to be Gojo’s relative so it’s very clear we are supposed to compare the two, both were also isolated due to their strength/curse. And there’s the whole idea of love becoming a curse, with Yuta and Rika, and Gojo’s line referring to love as the most twisted curse, which could only be a reference to Geto since Gojo had no other prominent relations to any of the other characters in what was a stand alone story when it came out and was written.
So to me Yuta being the one who said the words that Gojo would say make the most sense.
Also when you read the song it says that the words “Will we meet again” are suck in the back of his throat and are words that would curse him, it’s literally saying that Gojo hadn’t said these words and it’s made clearer by saying they’d be a curse and Geto’s reaction was telling Gojo to curse him, so it shouldn’t be “Will we meet again” also the phrase doesn’t fit with three words in English

I think he says, "i miss you". Cause it's very sentimental and refers to both their past and their present circumstances. It also plays into Gojo's loneliness. However, I'm not sure if this phrase was said earlier in the film.
