What a nice example of one of these! The spindle sounds amazing! I thought the A180 and A260 had soft seektests, but this one is somehow even more quiet. I found an MD2060 on eBay for like $30 a while back, but it was Britain and untested. After seeing this, I’m starting to regret not snatching it up. It looks the same as this one.
Yeah this thing is really quiet! I'm amazed I was able to find one working, it's a shame they're so impossibly hard to find. Best of luck with hunting for one, hopefully one will pop up for a good price! They're really quite beautiful drives!
i feel like premium hard drives these days need to bring back a gold finish cover surely with that much money spent they could give you something that looks *that* cool
Agreed! The gold on this one is really lovely, makes it look like they really put a lot of care into it. The logo being embossed on the cover is also a really nice touch, it's a shame how bog-standard modern drives are with that sort of thing.
100%! Was extremely lucky to come across this drive for under €10. It was untested, but it was clearly a worthy gamble (not that looking inside wouldn't have been interesting). It's such a lovely looking drive, but as you say it's a real shame how hard they are to find.
I wonder if the cover is highly polished brass, certainly looks the part like gold without the comparatively huge expense of actually gold plating the top cover 🤣
@@MyComputerStudios_ Yeah, I completely agree with you. The menu is pretty complicated, but I'll try to do that for the next one. Thanks for the feedback!

This is a very cool drive, it's a shame they're so rare / expensive! Beautiful design.

It's certainly a very flashy thing! Can't say I've seen any other gold 2.5" drive, so it's really a stunner!
If only it truly was pure gold hahaha
Wait you got a VGA capture card, or did the computer have an S-Video port?
@@MyComputerStudios_ Yes! Picked up a Kramer VP-435 scaler a while back but the package was missing for a while. Only direct recordings from now on!
@@bigbluebananabread try disabling the "Auto-adjust" thingy, it just adds clutter to the recording

sounds pretty nice ngl, but i don't hear the seektest... might be a me problem though.
@@notsoseagatey Yeah, it's honestly barely audible. Just a soft single click!
