Bernie Sanders (I-VT) angrily blasts the Republican and Democrat parties for lacking the political vision and will to restructure legislation and funding priorities that address serious domestic problems rather than continuing to fund defense programs at Cold War levels that deplete available revenue.

“You don’t have an enemy and I know that hurts your feelings...”
Defense spending leads to innovation, which spills into the private sector, such as communications equipment, microwave ovens, infrared technology, plane engines etc etc. The sector also emplys a lot of smart people and contributes a lot to 401k’s. Also, it is a major deterrent against countries that would be tempted to challenge the us, such as iran, china, korea etc. Russia cannot simply capture Greenland for instance, like they did with Crimea, because the us military would be up their ass. The purpose is to save lives, not to have wars.
All good points there, and yet the massive amount of money spent on military is out of proportion. Especially in the context of questions regarding health care or education.

But with that said, I'm glad that I was able to vote for Joe Biden for the 2020 presidential election and I believe we will lead our country into the right direction for the next four years

Yes, he was arrested for supporting black people during the civil rights movement, he defended homosexuals in 1995, when it wasn't "cool" or "trendy" to defend them. Besides the fact this specific year was very unique regarding military spending (USSR had just collapsed, USA emmerged superpower), and many other countries' military spending has increased a lot by now - even the next largest, China's, with 170$ billion still kind of pales in comparison to US' 700$ billion (especially when taken as a meassure of population).
Also the fact that sooooo many wellfare-legislations, and just general benefits to the US public, could be achieved through reducing the funding to the military and funneling it to other venues, without increasing the taxes whatsoever.

Where are my tax dollars going if the 700 billion can't even keep up with a country spending less. 500 billion of that 700 billion should be going to infrastructure, education, healthcare, and affordable housing. Instead the rich get tax cuts, the middle class gets another bill, and the corporation stash the cash overseas along with Epstein-types.

I just couldn't get over the fact that he is a self proclaimed socialist. Liberalism and socialism are completely different, and that isn't something that could just be shrugged of by the Democratic party, hence why they didn't pick him in the primaries.

It's bizarre to see someone so consistent in Washington D.C. I'm sure he has made his share of mistakes in the past that I'm not aware of, but nine times out of ten it feels like he's had the American public's best interests at heart, whether you agree with his stance or not.

Bernie voted against the Iraq war in '91 and he voted against the Iraq war in '02 & '03. He did see it coming.

Well, under his plan you would actually have a choice to go to whatever doctor you want, not to mention that unless you’re in the 1% you would actually be paying less even if you pay more in taxes. As for “free” universities, why shouldn’t taxes fund public universities like they do public schools? We need to shed this individualistic mentality that has been ingrained to us and start working together for the betterment of everyone. The truth is that everybody benefits from Bernie’s policies and not just a select group of people.

I don't vote in primaries anymore--I don't want to go all out for someone I like in the spring, only to face the dark prospect of choosing someone I can't stand in the fall. Bernie is one of the only Dems in this race I could support in November, but I'm still afraid the Establishment will out-maneuver him again before this is all over. I wish him luck though.

Plus you need to consider that Hillary Clinton had pretty much won the primary vote in 2008 but was out-maneuvered by Obama in the caucus states. She appeared to learn her lesson well enough to steal the election from Sanders in '16. My point should be fairly clear. (Biden also lost out in '08.)
