Here's the video of the "bomb cyclone" blizzard we had several years ago. It didn't have as much snow as this storm, but the winds were NUTS: th-cam.com/video/YFIEznyX8Gk/w-d-xo.html

About five years ago we got a once in 30 year snow in Boise! It was so bad people couldn’t get to work. Even the weatherman had to hitch a ride. Folks were getting stuck in our road all day long. We’d hear tires spinning and all the neighbors would come out with shovels sand and good old muscle power.

We had a bomb cyclone here last October. Started with rain, wind, then hail. Then a massive thunder storm and snow at the same time. We very rarely see lightning here so to have bolt lightning while it's snowing was so weird.

Was thinking of y'all and my cousin who moved from Wisconsin to Laramie last month. He was supposed to start his new job this week, but he now has to go and clear snow where he is supposed to work.
The most in my lifetime (I'm 17) was there other year where we got between 14 and 18 inches depending on where you measured. This is southwestern Piedmont Va I'm talking about, and not somewhere this is normal. We were out of school a week a week before exams. Only the people who were failing or had dual enrollment classes had to take the exams the last week of that semester.

Yea the instruction manuals don't often have a lot to do with real life. I've lived in the country all my life and would never have an electric stove. Still have a wood stove also even in my 60's, as much work as it can be still gives me a lot of independence. So glad you got a good wet snow, will make for a great spring. God bless

Even Wednesday after that storm, there are still challenges. I tried to deliver a load of frozen food to the Walmart Distribution Center on the west side of Cheyenne. They don't have enough room on their lot. They were turning trucks away. The road to the dc. Is solid ice.

Horse blanket would be nice in nasty weather even if they never had them before. We put horse blankets on when it gets 20 degrees and we also have horses that are bred for cold weather they have to be to live in Alaska. Chickens were happy, so good to get the Heifers in before a major storm they looked great, goats looked happy😊👍

We are in Torrington and had areas that the wind blew clean. Unfortunately, it appears all that snow blew to the most annoying places. Like around the chicken coop and up against my garage door. We did lose power for a few hours but since it wasn’t very cold we didn’t even start a fire. Yay for warmer weather and melting snow. We surely needed it!

Love it! Simply beautiful!! Growing up in the prairies of MT, this is nothing, but lord you take it far better than my parents did. In their defense, snowstorms meant we were actually snowed in. Like literally snow drifts that reached the roof of our one story house. Windows & doors completely blocked by snow. My Dad would be pissed, Mom would be scared the windows would blow in from the pressure & weight of the snow. Which is an actual think where we lives. I'd like to think you & your hubby would stay calm & just get to work, though. 😉😊

Making some great memories with you’re family. Glad to see young people embracing the rural lifestyle. Thanks for making these videos. May I ask what camera you use and editing software as the videos are all so clear and focused and the sound is just right. God bless from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦

Thanks Richard! I use a Cannon m50 camera with a Rode mic attached to the top. I use iMovie to edit.

@@theprairiehomestead Thanks for the prompt reply Jill. My age and health won’t allow me to do what you young guns are doing, but mixed in with my envy is solid support for people like yourselves. I pray that the children when older, stick around and help mum and dad continue this work. Wishing all the very best life can offer you all. 👍❤️

@@anitaholmes6824 Hello Anita, we’re just over an hour north of you in Leduc. Considering moving to Ponoka county close to Gull Lake. We both love that Ponoka/Lacombe area. So rich in agriculture and the smaller town feel of Bentley and Rimbey etc.

@@richardshort4587 We love it here as well, retired from Calgary. We actually also own a house on the North West side of Gull Lake ! Small world eh!

Feel sorry for yall back in 77 our family spent a week transporting food fuel and even police and emt's it was rough days with little sleep but like yours our power stayed on and we had 500 gallon underground fuel tank to supply all the snowmobiles. It took the county almost 2 weeks before we saw the first snowplow but alls well that ends well

We had a whole house generator put in ,cause with all the hurricanes here in Fla.its a blessing to be able to have one ,but we are also preparing for some off grid things as well, and we have a wood burning fireplace..wish it were a wood stove but it's something..,we also have a good size generator to run all our fridges and freezers and lights ,coffee maker, and TV so it's a back up but still have to have gas ,that's where we are lacking..as we live in a forest..
