      I live ten miles East of Devil's Tower...This storm was absolutely nothing in comparison to the 1984 blizzard we had....You could WALK onto your rooftop in the snow drifts that amassed in that storm...was insane....I did have some 5 foot drifts in this one, I have two nine year old German Shepherd babies, and we went out into this storm all day and played...it was a little cold at first, wind was pretty wicked, but all in all, not to bad...the snow was really weird though....kind of had a consistency of a fine flour and sand combination...made it very difficult to break trail in...but I have to admit....I am originally from Alaska, and I LOVE the snow storms...It does pain my heart to see what this storm did East and South of here though...I just read that over 1 million calves were lost just in Nebraska alone...I know a large portion of South Dakota was hit pretty hard too....

    You'll never need to worry about cutting the wrong size, spin in circles or waste time trying to figure out what goes where... With ryan's detailed shed plans th-cam.com/users/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu , it makes building sheds a breeze - just like putting lego bricks together! You'll be able to create the kind of shed, your neighbors and other woodworkers will secretly envy (while mumbling nice job under their breath).

    I was born in Jackson almost seven decades ago. I have definitely experienced what you're going through right now. We had a blizzard in 78 and I went into labor I couldn't get to the hospital and the doctor couldn't get to me. That was the most awesome delivery I've ever had made me choose to have home birth forevermore after that. I have warm and fond memories of the 78 blizzard...living in north Texas now and I sure do miss the snow.

    I was just checking out youtube & saw this one. It's good to know that those cows were ok, I'm an animal love. When I first saw that part with the cows covered in snow I sort of panic but what you said that just proved how well their protected from the cold. I've always worried about the cows & horses when there are these type of storms. But they still look so cold, poor babies...

    This is so surreal to me, as someone who lives in North Carolina. We had some snow in like January? It was like an inch or two and turned to ice pretty much overnight and that cancelled schools and closed stores and everything. I'm looking at this, and I think there is more snow on the ground than if you add all the snow I've seen in my life.
    I'm glad you survived and all your animals are just fine! Stay safe and warm!!

    You should have been there back in '49. Now there was a blizzard and a half! Our place east of Cheyenne had drifts over the porch and it was so bad that the cars couldn't make it through and the folks had to hike to the nearest ranch house to survive. Ranchers rose to the occasion and opened their homes and hearts to all comers. Good luck digging out, y'all!

    Wow. That's amazing! I've seen lots of snow, but never like this before. Growing up on a cattle ranch in the '60's, we would light bonfires in the pastures to keep the cattle warm. Our herd was about 150 head. I've learned/seen, once a cow goes down, they rarely get back up, due to hypothermia, pneumonia, etc. This was especially true if the temperature fell below 26 degrees. Killed the orange crops, too. We are in Florida and raised Santa Gertrudis, Brahamn and the Longhorn, (courtesy of Spain) but no snow gardens. Great photography!

    Well done vid of what it's like to be coping with a blizzard, right down to showing the changing snow drifts on the porch, & how, when out walking, the wind can create areas where the snow may be only a few inches deep, but in the next step, may be just over your knees, which makes it hard to walk in.
    The little drift that blew in due to a small crack under the door , feet away showed how strong the wind was. I put old towels to fill the gap under my back storm door. The strip at the bottom was cheaply made & broke in the cold weather one year. After the inner door is closed, there's a large, thin but dense towel I arrange at the bottom of that door.
    It makes a huge difference.

    It was a few weeks ago for our blizzard, here in Western Montana, but it was similar. 27” in 24 hours, more than any storm in the last 20 years. And it has lasted for weeks! We are melting now during the days, so we are about to transition from ice & snow to mud & muck. We don’t have cows, but our neighbor does & he’s been on constant patrol all winter. The calves are pretty cool to watch! Good luck with your storm recovery!

      That quantity of snow isn't uncommon here, but the way it came in was pretty unusual-- one report I saw said that this storm had level 1 hurricane force winds, so when you combine that with snow, it's pretty intense.

    1991 in Duluth MN we had a Halloween blizzard. 38 inches the first day. Unseasonably cold early in the season so the snow stayed until March. Fortunately I rented as I had just moved back to Duluth so snow removal was done by landlord. Not this year, however. I think we had over 4 feet of snow in February alone. It wa a treat on those few days it didn't snow. My heart goes out to you. You and your animals are safe, most important. I love Wyoming.

    Im sorry. You're handling it with a fantastic attitude. This winter has been just been crazy across much of the US. Epic flooding in the Midwest. Bomb snowstorms in the west. We in the Pacific Northwest had a storm that dropped the heaviest (not most snow, but weighed an outrageous amount) snow in a two day period that we've had in 30+ years. We lost power for a week. Glad you faired better.

    • @allmyothersubscriptions
      @allmyothersubscriptions 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why do you feel guilty??? These people choose to live in areas, with brutally cold winters. No one forces them to live there!!! They have CHOSEN to live in these areas; presumably because the cost of living is low, due the undesirable, hideous climate. As they say: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Coastal central and southern California, is extremely expensive, because it has by far the best climates in the contiguous United States (from the Bay Area to SoCal). The combination of low humidity, dry sunny summers and wet, mild and in the case of SoCal warm winters and vast topographical diversity of the state (the highest mountains in the US) makes it unbeatable climate wise. I DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR THESE PEOPLE; I LAUGH AT THEM AND THEIR STUPIDITY!!!!
