As an Aussie mum of 4 young kids and a husband. I was going to cook red curry chicken for tonight’s dinner BUT my 1 year old has been glued to me (as we are nearing the end of the 1st week of school holidays in Adelaide), all kids are home, but my 1 year old just glued so cooking dinner was going to be a challenge. I cooked up 2 packets of “family” sized Continental four cheese pasta, chucked some frozen bean into the mix once it was almost cooked and then serve. Cheap, quick and easy. I have absolutely no regrets at all. Leftovers are always the best tasting the next day. So if we have any left, it’s lunch the next day. I only just found this channel today. So I was quiet impressed. I did subscribe and will continue to follow along. Even as a family of 6.
Hi Emmy thank you for the challenge, I’m interested to see what you cook, I live alone in my seventies on a pension plus I’m Coeliac, as you stated no oats and the cost of our bread is challenge. I eat a lot of rice/corn cakes. My budget is a $100 fortnight, and that includes everything. I seem to manage quite well and enjoy the challenge of keeping to my budget.
Hi Emmy, So great to see an Aussie food hall, recipes and pricing for just one person. So many today live on their own and most budget friendly videos I have come across are either other countries and/or for a couple or family (which are great to watch but not so relevant to me). Well done!! We have a $150 max a week budget for the 6 of us, so it can easily be done, just have to think outside the box. My only suggestions would have been maybe add a tin of chick peas, to add to salads and fritters too, also can be roastedand maybe if you'd dropped the taco seasoning (you have the base spices in your spice rack!!), a can of kidney beans/black beans for addition to taco meat/bowls etc. Otherwise I think you did really well, and have a great meal plan and I'll definitely be following along, hopefully with regular updates this week 😊 oh and good luck with the cottage cheese lol, not my cup of tea, but looking forward to seeing what you create with it. It might change my mind😊

Too many food snobs around nowadays that don't know how to live cheap. People are obsessed with having to have meat and 3 veg every day. It's not going to kill the kids to have cheap food night like a tin of soup to use stale bread for toast etc. Simple meals. I even know people that turn their nose up at leftovers. Eww, I'm not reheating it" and throw stuff in the bin 😢..
@@tezzaskayakfishing if you watch what I ended up cooking (in the next video) I mixed it up quite a bit and also rarely had the same thing 2 days in a row. 😊

I feel like one serving of meat per day per person is fine and easily doable
That’s not being a food snob, it’s being healthy and is a simple meal.
Variety she says. Eggs nearly everyday for breakfast and 2x tuna salad for lunch and 2x “salad”. Wow. Full of variety, dear🙄
