If memory serves me, Menuhin played that during the 1965 Casals Festival held at the University Theater in San Juan, Puerto Rico and conducted by Don Pablo. I was there as a young University student, and unbelievably, it was customary to sell a limited amount “standing” tickets for a dollar. Yes. A dollar! So students bought them and during the intermission, we looked for the unnocuppied seats of those who didn’t return from the break and had a great seats! Unforgettable.

As a Collector and Admirer of the late Yehudi Menuhin and this Recording Reminds me of the Performances I've got in My own Record Collection of Yehudi Menuhin Playing with the Bath Festival Orchestra,but the Most famous Recording I've got is the one Made in 1932 of the Elgar Violin Concerto with Sir Edward Elgar Conducting the London Symphony Orchestra and a 16 Year old Yehudi Menuhin and the Recording was Made on Thursday and Friday July 14th and 15th 1932 and I've got it in three formats on a Pre-War 78rpm Record set DB-1751 DB-1756 the first LP Transfer on ALP-1456 Red and Gold and the HMV Treasury Serious HLM-7107 as well as having a Mint first Pressing Stereo of Yehudi Menuhin's later 1966 Recording Record Number ASD-2259 and I've been Collecting his Records for over forty years both on Pre War 78rpm and LP Vinyl
If I hadn't listened to David Oistrakh, I would also think this is best - Oistrakh has got something special about his sound and temper, which is amiss in every other great violinist -Yehudi Menuhin (a Oistrakh's close friend) has said that, in his opinion, David Oistrakh is the very greatest, and further, would it have been possible, he would have wanted to study for Oistrakh. However, I think that Mozart suits Menuhin very well, and also his performance is beautiful. Even more I like him playing Bach double violin concerto with David Oistrakh...

I still get goosebumps when he enters with the orchestra. Something special happens with Mozart, something magical.
